This Golden Girl Needs Help

Strong Paws Rescue

Cinnamon Deserves a Second Chance at a Healthy, Happy Life At approximately 10 years old, Cinnamon has already endured more than her share of hardship. After spending months at the Montgomery County shelter, this sweet senior girl was finally saved by Strong Paws Rescue. But her road to recovery is far from over. Cinnamon is covered in lumps and masses, including a concerning growth on her paw. She has already undergone testing to determine the nature of the mass, and her rescuers are anxiously awaiting results to learn whether surgery will be necessary. As if that weren’t enough, Cinnamon has also tested positive for heartworms, a potentially life-threatening condition that requires treatment. After everything she’s endured, Cinnamon deserves so much more than another day of discomfort and uncertainty. She deserves the opportunity to heal, feel safe, and enjoy the happy, carefree retirement every senior dog should have. Strong Paws Rescue has already begun addressing her medical needs, but the costs are mounting. If surgery is recommended, they anticipate needing an additional $2,500 on top of the veterinary expenses already incurred. Cinnamon also needs heartworm treatment to give her the best possible chance at a healthy future. Cinnamon has waited long enough for her second chance. Now she needs our help to make it count. Your donation will help cover her veterinary care, potential surgery, and heartworm treatment. No gift is too small to make a difference for this deserving senior girl.

Tilly

A Tiny Warrior

Croton on Hudson, NY • Strong Paws Rescue

Strong Paws Rescue welcomed Tilly into their care after finding her at the Cleveland Flea, where she was extremely sick and being kept in a crate alongside other ill puppies. It was immediately clear that she hadn’t received the basic care a vulnerable young puppy desperately needs. At first, the rescue believed Tilly’s swollen belly and poor condition were the result of a severe parasite infestation. She was also diagnosed with a Grade 2 heart murmur, raising additional concerns about her health. But over the next several days, Tilly became increasingly lethargic and began refusing food. Then her condition took a frightening turn. Tilly became wobbly and weak and began vomiting—bringing up three piles of roundworms. Her medical foster immediately sprang into action, getting Tilly fluids and anti-nausea medication while emergency transportation was arranged. At the emergency hospital, the rescue received devastating news: Tilly tested positive for parvovirus. She was immediately given serum and placed on aggressive supportive care. Her initial emergency estimate is already $5,800, and that amount may continue to rise as doctors fight to stabilize her. The estimate also includes authorization for a blood transfusion should Tilly’s condition deteriorate and she need one. Despite everything her tiny body has endured, Tilly is still fighting. In an encouraging moment, she began eating and even tried to play with members of the emergency veterinary team. Those little glimpses of puppyhood are exactly what her rescuers are fighting to give her more of. Tilly’s story could have ended before she ever had the chance to truly begin her life. Instead, she now has an entire team fighting beside her—but they need help covering the enormous cost of saving her. Please donate to Tilly’s Waggle campaign and help Strong Paws Rescue give this little girl every chance to survive parvo and finally experience the safe, healthy life every puppy deserves.

Blue

Abandoned, Now Fighting Cancer

Strong Paws Rescue

Senior Blue was found wandering around an apartment complex, lost and confused. She was microchipped, but heartbreakingly, her owners never came for her or even responded when contacted. Thankfully, Strong Paws Rescue stepped in and made sure Blue would never be abandoned again. Once safe, rescuers discovered that Blue has cancerous masses along her mammary chain that need to be surgically removed. Because of her age and condition, the procedure is high-risk. If her veterinarian discovers extensive spread or necrotic tissue during surgery, they may be unable to safely continue, leaving hospice care as the next option. Everyone is hoping Blue gets the chance she deserves. Through it all, Blue remains a gentle, loving senior who spends her days happily napping at her foster dad’s house. After being left behind by the family she once knew, she finally has people committed to fighting for her. Her surgery is expected to cost approximately $1,500, and Strong Paws Rescue needs our help covering her care. Please donate to help give Blue more time—the chance for more naps, more love, and more days knowing she is finally home. Tagline Her family never came back. Now Blue needs us to show up for her.

Ave Maria Lost Her Puppies And Is Now Fighting For Her Life

Strong Paws Rescue

Ave Maria has already endured more heartbreak than any dog should have to experience. Now, after finally being given a second chance, she has found herself fighting for her life. This sweet 5-year-old mama arrived at a large county shelter in Houston with her newborn puppies, who were only a few days old. Tragically, one by one, all of Ave Maria’s babies passed away in the shelter. Newborn puppies have extremely vulnerable immune systems, leaving them especially susceptible to illness and infection. Sadly, this is a reality many young puppies face in large, overcrowded county shelters, where constant exposure to disease can be devastating for babies whose immune systems have barely had a chance to develop. Ave Maria was left without a single one of her babies. She was sad and withdrawn, barely moving and not even interested in treats. After losing her entire litter, Ave Maria faced yet another devastating blow: she was placed on the shelter’s euthanasia list. Thankfully, Strong Paws Rescue stepped in and saved her. Once she was out of the shelter, Ave Maria began showing everyone the dog hiding beneath all that sadness. She became happier and more energetic, revealing herself to be an incredibly gentle, affectionate girl. After everything she had endured, it finally seemed like the worst was behind her. Then, during what should have been a routine spay surgery, something went terribly wrong. Ave Maria experienced significantly more bleeding than expected. Later that evening, her condition deteriorated. She struggled to stand, her gums became pale, and she was rushed for emergency veterinary care. Her red blood cell levels continued to fall—from 34% to 28%, and then to just 23%. Veterinarians began considering a blood transfusion and emergency surgery to locate the source of the bleeding. There was a very real possibility that immediate intervention would be necessary to save her life. Thankfully, Ave Maria’s body began to fight back. She was able to form a clot, the bleeding appeared to stop, and the blood began to be reabsorbed. Once she was stable enough, she was transferred for continued overnight hospitalization and close monitoring. After losing every one of her newborn babies, surviving the euthanasia list, and now making it through a frightening medical crisis, Ave Maria is still here—and she is still fighting. Her emergency care has also created a significant and unexpected expense for Strong Paws Rescue. Her initial emergency treatment totaled approximately $2,000, with another $1,000 estimated for overnight hospitalization and monitoring. Strong Paws Rescue didn’t hesitate when Ave Maria needed them. Now, they need our help covering the lifesaving veterinary care that gave this deserving mama another chance. Ave Maria has already experienced enough loss for a lifetime. Now it’s her turn to experience safety, love, and the future she fought so hard to have.
