Boyd had been abandoned in the forest around our local area with 5 siblings and their Mom who was still nursing them. Other than parasites and fleas, they were healthy pups who quickly found adopters. Boyd won over his people with his sweet, calm demeanor and loving ways. They were devastated to discover that Boyd has hip dysplasia ( possibly both hips) and they could not afford to help him. Boyd is in foster care right now with the vet tech who works at Town and Country Animal Hospital. He is a 9 month old puppy and loves his toys, plays with the cat and enjoys the dogs in the household. He goes to work everyday with his foster so he is never alone and enjoys the special attention that he gets while there. The adopter could not afford the surgery for Boyd and was faced with a very difficult choice. The vet tech intervened and called us and we took him back. The cost of his surgery is steep for our rescue and he needs it on both sides. Boyd's radiographs show hip dysplasia on both sides that can be surgically corrected. The type of surgery needed is either an FHO or total hip replacement. The cost estimate is on the lower end. The upper end is $10K. Town and Country Veterinary Hospital in Ocala, FL is where his exam was done. The surgery will be done by Dr. Kelly Culbertson when he returns at the end of the month. Boyd is a lovable puppy who likes to chew forbidden items like his fluffy bed. He makes his foster Mom laugh with all of the weird positions he likes to sleep in. He is full of life, love and mischief as most puppies his age are. Ending his life for economic reasons is unthinkable. He is in pain, but he ignores it most days and just wants to be a goofy puppy.
