Nicole
Be Apart of Nicole’s Next Chapter

Nearly two years ago, Nicole and her sister Dakota came into rescue in heartbreaking condition. The approximately 8-year-old Irish Wolfhound–Alaskan Malamute mixes had clearly been suffering for a long time. Their allergies were severe. They were missing patches of fur from constant itching. Painful lumps had formed along their backs from infected hair follicles. Even their teeth revealed both girls had been “corn cobbing” themselves in an attempt to soothe the relentless discomfort, resulting in significant dental damage. Nicole ultimately had to have several teeth removed. But once they were safe, everything changed. With antibiotics, dermatology care, and dedicated fosters who committed to weekly medicated baths, these girls began to heal. Their coats filled in. The infections resolved. Their personalities emerged. Nicole and Dakota finally knew comfort. Tragically, near the end of January, Dakota passed away unexpectedly. Nicole lost her lifelong companion, her sister, her comfort. And less than a week later, another blow: Nicole’s fosters discovered a lump near one of her nipples. Diagnostics confirmed a mammary tumor. The good news is that it appears to have been caught early. Nicole is scheduled for surgery to remove the mass, and her veterinarian is hopeful they will be able to achieve clean margins. We are all hoping for benign pathology results, but we won’t know more until surgery and biopsy are complete. Funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward: Surgical removal of the mammary tumor Anesthesia and perioperative care Biopsy and pathology Post-operative medications and follow-up visits Nicole deserved comfort after years of neglect. If you are able to donate, share, or send good thoughts her way, it truly makes a difference. We are cautiously optimistic. And we are committed to giving Nicole every opportunity for a healthy future. For Dakota’s memory. For Nicole’s tomorrow.

Abi
Help Abi Have a Second Chance at Comfort and Love

Meet Aberdeen—better known as Abi—a sweet girl who lost the only home she had ever known, but couldn't have asked for better caretakers at Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League. After spending most of her life in a house where she didn’t get along with the other dogs, her owners made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her. To make matters worse, just before going into their care, Abi was attacked by another dog, suffering an injury dangerously close to her eye. While the rescue was told there was no lasting damage, they never received her vet records, and it soon became clear that something wasn’t right. During her time in the shelter, Abi frequently experienced eye irritation. They did their best to keep her comfortable with medication, but the issue kept returning. So when she moved into her foster home, they took her to see a specialist that revealed the problem—the scar tissue had healed wrong and caused entropion, a painful condition where her eyelashes rubbed against her eye. Surgery was the only way to give Abi relief. Fortunately, the surgery went great, and she is recovering beautifully. Her foster family adores her, noting that even the veterinary staff fell in love with her. Now, this rescue needs your help to cover the costs of her surgery and ongoing care. Please consider donating to help Abi heal and also help her find the loving home she deserves.
