Sweet Pup Lola Needs Surgery to Mend Her Jaw

We are Whiskers & Tails, an animal rescue focused on saving animals in West Texas. We had given Lola vaccinations to get her ready for adoption when the home she was staying at had an unknown accident that resulted in an open fracture broken jaw. We immediately found a medical foster for Lola where she is being taken are of the way she deserves. Lola has been diagnosed with an open fracture broken jaw. This means that her jawbone is protruding into her mouth, causing her a lot of pain and discomfort. The vets in our town do not have the equipment to treat this, so we took Lola to Big Spring Diagnostic Animal Hospital for treatment where they diagnosed her and created a treatment plan. With surgery, she has an excellent prognosis. Even though Lola has had a tough start at life, from being found on the street, to having trauma that caused a broken jaw, she still wags her tail whenever people come in the room. She is a sweet, strong, and resilient girl. We find it amazing that even though she is in so much pain, she still trusts people and has such a sweet spirit. If you know Lola, you know love. We are a newer 501(c)3 non-profit that started operations in April. We do not typically take on medical cases but we had to for Lola. We have raised some funds, but we will need to raise $2,634. Update 9/23/25 We’re so happy to share that Lola has successfully come through her surgery and is now on the road to recovery! Thanks to the incredible team at Big Spring Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital and your donations, Lola will now be able to enjoy the happy, healthy, normal life every puppy deserves. This surgery has already drastically improved her quality of life, giving her the chance to eat solid food, close her mouth, run, play, and simply be the joyful pup she was meant to be. We are beyond grateful for the expert care and compassion Lola received and we can't wait to see her continue to improve and thrive. Update 10/11/25 After a month of post-surgery check-ups and careful recovery, we’re thrilled to share that sweet Sienna has officially been given the all clear! Thanks to the incredible veterinary team at Big Spring Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital, Sienna received the lifesaving care she needed after her traumatic injuries — and she’s now on her way to living the happy, healthy life she deserves. We couldn’t have reached this moment without you. Every donation, share, and kind word helped give Sienna a second chance at life.
