Mathilda

Mathilda is a 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Thornhill, ON, who needs $2,000 for Surgery.

Thornhill • www.teamcatrescue.ca

Mathilda was dropped off at a kill shelter with her hind leg dragging. She seemed in great pain as her leg appeared to be broken and she had some other injuries. She also appeared to have a blockage in her inner ear. She was dropped of by a stranger who knew that she could be euthanized and the shelter didn't even believe in her to give her a name. She was listed as "No Name". We are a volunteer only rescue and when we saw Mathlida (listed at the kill shelter as No Name), we knew we had to save her. She first came to one of our temp foster homes as our clinic wasn't open until the next morning. Even in pain, she was sweet to every person and animal she met in the foster home. She's a little angel. She is just a kitten that obviously when through some major trauma that included breaking her growth plate in her hind leg. And yet she is the sweetest girl. So loving and friendly. She is also very patient and calm. She loves to purr and play even with current limited mobility. She is a lover AND a fighter. After being xrayed at our vet clinic, Bayview Park Animal Hospital, it was found that she had a broken growth plate. We were recommended to amputate as the other option of stabilization was far more expensive and not guaranteed to resolve the issue. We deal with a lot of tripod cats and they wonderfully. Mathilda came to us from a kill shelter where they didn't even bother to give her a name. As a volunteer rescue with no government or corporate support, we are constantly limited on funds. Since COVID, vet prices have increased greatly making this surgery even more expensive as it requires a specialist. We know we can help her and find her an amazing home.

Hopper

Hopper is a 8-year-old in Thornhill, ON, who needs $1,200 for Amputation.

Thornhill • www.teamcatrescue.ca

Hopper is a kitten who was born with a missing foot. He is still playful and sweet but currently with a Texas rescue that cannot provide the surgery he needs. He is coming to Toronto to have his leg amputated and treated. While he doesn't seem to be in pain now, the bottom of his leg will eventually become damaged, infected and painful. We are told that Hopper is a fun playful and active boy. He likes to jump (hence the name Hopper) and play with other young cats. He has a big personality and will do well with all types of humans. We are eager to get him treated and find him a new home who will appreciate a tripod with high energy. Hopper is a special boy as he was born with this defect. But it doesn't get him down and he just keeps going. He tries to be like the other kittens and keeps up with the best of them. He has such an angelic face even though he can get up to devlish trouble. He deserves a chance to get the surgery he needs. Hopper is coming to us from another rescue in Texas. They are inundated with free roaming cats there and cannot afford expensive surgeries. Hopper needs his leg amputated or else his stump will blister and get infected and cause him pain. He will be assessed and treated at Bayview Park Animal Hospital. As a volunteer rescue, our adoption fees barely cover the basics (Neuter, vaxx, chip). Our rescue takes in a lot of medical cases regardless of the cost because every cat deserves a chance no matter the cost.

Marmalade

Marmalade is a 3-year-old in Thornhill, ON, who needs $1,200 for Urinary unblocking.

Thornhill • www.teamcatrescue.ca

Marmalade is a 3 year old sweet boy who was brought into a local emergency hospital with a urinary blockage. The owners could not pay for it and could only pay for euthanasia. The clinic called us on Saturday to see if we could save him. He is a sweet sad boy in need of emergency surgery. He is now with our clinic getting the help he needs. Even though Marmalade was in great pain and discomfort, he was still sweet and cuddly at the emergency hospital. He seems like he will do well with any loving family but will need a proper diet going forward. He seems like a true gem and a beautiful boy. The staff at the emergency hospital fell in love with him immediately. Marmalade has gone from one hospital to the other so he hasn't been in a foster home where his true personality would shine. However he seems to be very loving and trusting even in difficult conditions. He is very affectionate even while his owners were saying goodbye to him at the hospital. He was calm while in pain. Marmalade needed an urgent decompressive cysto to relieve his bladder while at the emergency hospital (Halton Region Emerg Clinic) and will need to be surgically unblocked at our clinic at Bayview Park Animal Hospital. He will also require special meds. He will require specialty food for the rest of his life and monitoring as blockages can be deadly. As a rescue, our financial resources are stretched thin and adoption fees don't cover these types of treatments. We take in a lot of medical cases that other rescues cannot. Marmalade deserves a new chance.
