Cokey
Cokey is an 11-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix in Santa Fe, NM, who needs $700 for dental extraction surgery.

Cokeys' past caregiver and I shared an apartment together for 3 1/2 years. We were evicted because they wanted to upgrade the apartment building and we were month to month. Cokey could no longer live with his caregiver where he went to live and was going to give him to the pound. ABSOLUTELY NOT I said and took him with me. The place I went to did not want dogs either but as long as he stayed in my room they tolerated it. SO I took him everywhere with me jobs and all. He is so well behaved that he can go anywhere and stay with me. Where I moved to, grew tired of Cokey and we had to leave. For the past 4 months we have been without a home. I am trying to raise 1st, last and deposit money and the landscaping season is coming to an end and my transmission needs work. The car is our temporary home.
Baby
Baby is a 6-year-old Turkish Angora cat in Germantown, MD, who needs $1,650 for a CT scan and rhinoscopy.

Baby came into my life five years ago. While at PETCO, I saw one of the rescue cats looking at me. He never took his eyes off me. A beautiful cat, with one blue eye and one yellow eye. I had recently experienced the death, in my arms, of my 19 year old cat and wasn't looking to adopt another. My heart was still broken. A week later, I was at PEPCO, and there he seat staring at me again. Little did I know, he picked me and two days later I adopted him. Once home, I found out he was totally deaf. He became fast friend with my 14 year pit bull, who had cancer. They spent many month together befor she crossed over. Baby is friendly to everyone who visits. Loves to sit in the front window and watch the world go by. I taught him a few hand signs since he is deaf.
Gulliver
Gulliver is a 5-year-old Boxer/Mastiff mix in Moscow Mills, MO, who needs $725 for surgery to remove a mast cell tumor.

We have had Gulliver for one year (Nov. 2nd). He was adopted from a shelter by my Dad and Step-Mom. Whenever I would visit them I would always joke that I was going to take him back home with me. We had wanted a dog for a few years but were never able to have one because of where we lived. We finally moved back closer to my dad, and to a place that would allow us to have a dog, so I asked my Dad and Step-Mom if he could come live with us and see how it went. Gulliver has bad separation anxiety and we felt like maybe he could have more attention living with us too. It was one of the best choices we have made. He loves going for walks and especially going "bye-bye". He loves everyone! He will go up to every single person to say hi to them, and he is so well behaved. We take him to holiday dinners, our friends houses for bonfires, and of course to my dad's to visit.
Luke
Luke is a 4-month-old Maine Coon mix cat in Woodstock, GA, who needs $1,435 for an emergency blood transfusion.

Luke has been in foster care with MCR since being pulled from a Georgia shelter on 8/7/19 as a young kitten with his sibling. At the time we pulled him out of the shelter we were told his age to be approximately 8 weeks old. While in foster care he had frequent episodes of diarrhea, lack of appetite, congestion, and listlessness for which he was treated. During these frequent vet visits, in addition to the routine vet care of deworming, fecal tests and flea treatments. Luke also had on-going upper respiratory infections & congestion which is common for small cats that are in shelters. He's was treated with antibiotics multiple times, he would feel better, but it wouldn't last. Reoccurring bouts of diarrhea which would cause him to be dehydrated, he was taken to the vet for fluids numerous times. Luke still wasn’t gaining any weight and at less than 2 pounds a second test showed Luke had Toxemic - he was then given additional medication for 10 days along with medication for continued diarrhea. At this point, his vet bills came to $710.00. This past week we thought Luke had over-come all his issues so, he was given his first FVRCP vaccine. Luke quickly became sick again, began sliding fast so back again to the vet on 10/10/19. At this time the vet referred us to the emergency clinic. Once there, it was discovered he had acute anemia. His red blood cell count was at only 7%, which should be at least 35%. Luke is critical and requires an emergency blood transfusion to try and save his life. This procedure is estimated at $2664 and could double if a second transfusion is required. Maine Coon Rescue would greatly appreciate any help you could provide in the way of donations. No amount is too small. Every dollar counts!

Raisen was my first cat that I got from a coworker when I moved into my first apartment. She has been in my life for 10 years. I got her when she was just a kitten. She sleeps with me every night! I love her so much! She loves to chase strings and when she is happy, her purring sounds like a car starting!

Kitty was a four year old rescue from the humane society. We have had him four years before adopting a brother for him that is about the same age. His name is Rusty and he is 9. Kitty was very overweight and we were hoping a playmate might slim him up a bit. When he started to lose weight, we thought it was a good thing but today when we brought him to the vet we discovered that he had lost eight pounds. Scary to say the least. He has hyperthyroidism, has a heart murmur and anxiety over our move. We are beside ourselves with worry and pulled in every direction at once.

Flower is are first family cat we recused him and his brother from a hay stack field. He was about 4 weeks old with a broken tail at the tip, but fraught to stay alive. He came at a time in our life that was much needed for my daughter that has Cystic Fibrosis and was going through a hard time in life. He is now 7 years old and has are hearts.

After losing my childhood dog and best friend, Molly, about six months prior, I had not considered bringing another dog into my life. After seeing a photo of a sad-eyed three-month-old puppy that needed a new home, I decided to throw caution to the wind and go meet her. I immediately knew the void in my life could be filled by the bubbly personality of this puppy. While speaking to the owners, I was informed of their inability to appropriately care for her. Within minutes we bonded, and the small brown puppy happily climbed into my car, eager to see her new home. My life was forever changed for the better. Fast forward 3 years and I cannot imagine how I ever lived a day without her. We developed a relationship like no other. She is the most happy, loyal, devoted, and family-oriented dog I know. If I’m feeling down, she’ll come nudge at me and give me kisses - or bring me her favorite toy to cheer me up. If I’m celebrating, she will jump around and spin in circles with me. And if I’m relaxing, you can safely bet she is by my side snoring. Since the first day Hennessy and our family dog, Busta, met they have been inseparable. The two love to play, go on long walks, and always be near one another when relaxing. Busta is going on 11 and has taught Hennessy all he knows about being kind and gentle, but also playful and adventurous. Hennessy loves going to the dog park to meet new people and other pets. She loves when family comes to visit from other states and she gets to run around with children that have as much energy as she does. She is always ready for a ride in the car, as it is more exciting to her than the destination itself. Most of all, Hennessy LOVES spending time at her "grandparents" house where she is showered with love and attention and receives countless belly rubs. Since my mother has become disabled over the last year, Hennessy has demonstrated great empathy towards her "grandmother" and is extra careful near her. When my father suffered an accident and shattered his ankle, Hennessy lay by his side day in and day out during his recovery. Hennessy has the ability to touch the lives of everyone she comes in contact with. Her energy is radiant and her free spirit is captivating. My bond with Hennessy is the purest form of unconditional love and friendship.

Captain is a 6-month-old German Shepard. He is very playful and loving. He is also very smart. He learned how to sit, lay down, fetch, and gives his paw on command. Prior to his diagnosis, Captain was very active. He loved going on morning runs with me. He is a loyal companion and although he has only been in our lives for a few months, he is part of our family.
