Acorn

Acorn is a 1-year-old Labradoodle in Alhambra, CA, who needs $1,600 for Ilial Body Fracture and Stabilize Coxofemoral Joint.

Alhambra, CA

Acorn is a labradoodle that was bought from a breeder for my daughters by their Mom. After a year and a half of living with my daughters and their Mom she was unable to care for him at her apartment. I took Acorn in as I loved him wholeheartedly since I met him. Unfortunately, pet insurance was no longer active. He lives with me in a house, in a room with me, and desperately needs surgery. I currently walk Acorn several times a day and hire a dog walker when I go to work. I also bring him to see my daughters often. He is so loving, patient, kind, and healthy. He never barks and is very friendly with kids and loves to play with other dogs. Of course I love when Acorn cocks his head sideways and looks at me as if seeking an answer to things said. He runs so fast, I love to see him off the leash in an open field or desperate to catch a squirrel which he is always unable, thank God. He sleeps with me at night and is eager to get outside first thing in the morning. Three nights ago, crossing an intersection at a red light a car failed to yield, however i was out of the way but Acorn about 10 feet behind me on a leash was pinched by the right front tired of a car and fractured his pelvis in 2 places. I’ve been heartbroken since trying to figure out how to find a surgeon to help fix him at a reasonable cost. I’m confident based on the emergency care given and x rays taken he could run again if a plate was inserted on his pelvis to help the bones mate correctly. Truly all I want is to see him run again. I’ve cried for two days straight, my daughters are heartbroken. Pls help

Ushio

Ushio is a 9-year-old Dachshund in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $2,000 for IVDD CT/MRI.

Los Angeles, CA

Ushio came into my life 1.5 years ago when I met my boyfriend. She use to have a sister but she already passed. Ushio is the only pet in the household. Ushio's name means tide, salt water, opportunity. My boyfriend use to take her to the dog beach before be went to work in the mornings until she had a traumatic experience after getting bit by another dog. Ushio likes to walk on the strand by the beach and go for bike rides. She likes to sleep near my boyfriend and I on her couch next to our bed. She is our ESA and communicates by a little boop/lick when she knows something is wrong with you and she lets you know when she needs to go outside to potty. Ushio loves her lambchop toys to play fetch with and cuddle when she sleeps. She likes whole hearted beef treats. She loves to let you know when someone is walking by the house to protect you. She loves when I take her for a bike ride out on the strand by the beach or when I take her for a car ride she likes to stick her head out the window. Ushio was seen at the Vet who referred us to go see a neurologist as she will need to have a CT or MRI to confirm if she has IVDD. At the moment she is being treated by our veterinarian until the Neurologist does her consultation to verify next steps. This is an unexpected major expense and currently on a fixed income due my boyfriend does not have a job so I have been supporting us and have been behind on some bills.

Photo of Agent

Agent

Agent is a 12-year-old Maltese in Los Angeles, CA, who needs $1,800 for Periocular Biopsy.

Los Angeles, CA

In 2012, I adopted a 1 year old maltese from Lange Foundation and it was the best decision I have ever made. He was rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation, had been adopted and returned to the foundation. They warned me he had bitten the previous owner and a volunteer but I saw a terrified, stressed little guy that just needed some patience and love. 11 years later and he's my ride or die! Agent went from not wanting me near him those first few months to always being by my side today. He goes everywhere with me - doing errands to moving across the country - always making friends along the way. I jokingly say, he is shaking hands and kissing babies! He knows how to work the room with his big brown eyes and black, button nose. Agent is a true character. He hops like a bunny when excited. More of a city guy, he prefers to walk on concrete rather than get his paws dirty. His favorite ball, and only toy he's ever played with, is bigger than his head. He plays hide & seek, barking until I come find him. He bumps me on the leg with his nose to say thank you. When I tell him to come, he takes 3 steps backward. Agent has a mass on his eye and over the course of 4 weeks it has grown and spread to his other eye. He has been examined by 5 vets, an Ophthalmologist, and had several diagnostic tests done. Now, he is having neurological symptoms. He needs to have a biopsy done on the mass and/or removal of it & see the neurologist. Not being able to work due to my own health issue and the $3000 spent on vet bills in the last 4 weeks has zapped my resources. Agent has always been there through hard times and I have to get him through this!

Photo of Wells

Wells

Wells is a three-month-old Manchester Terrier mix in Burbank, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent heart surgery.

Burbank, CA • Dachshund and Friends Rescue

Dachshunds and Friends Rescue is in a race against time. The nonprofit group is trying to raise money to save Puppy Wells as fast as possible. The tiny pup has a congenital anomaly at the base of his heart called a vascular ring anomaly (aka persistent right aortic arch). His aorta developed over his esophagus, allowing only liquids to pass through. If left untreated, his condition can cause a permanent defect in his esophagus. Wells needs an MRI and surgery to fix the condition -- the cost for the procedures is more than $10,000. The rescue is dedicated to getting Wells the care he needs by working with the medical team at Access Pasadena Specialty Animal Hospital. The pup is currently living with his foster mom, who is feeding him a special liquids-only diet, calorie gel, supplements, and medications he needs. Because of his diet restrictions, he only weighs 3 pounds, while his siblings average around 10 pounds. Despite his small size, he has plenty of character, sharing love and warmth throughout the house. "Wells is a sweet, precocious pup, and we've helped much of his family find wonderful homes," Alex P., from the rescue, tells Waggle. "We want to do everything we can to give him the same chance." Please help heal this pup's broken heart!
