Buck

Buck is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Weaverville, NC, who needs $2,000 for TPLO.

Weaverville, NC

Buck is our Pandemic Puppy. He was our " what if" we get sent home from school... what will make it better. BUCK! We had just finished reading and seeing Call of the Wild ~ Nik and Emmie's favorite- so we started looking before that unforgettable day, purchased puppy food and more so we were ready, and picked him up Day 1 of quarantine. He was our ray of hope in those dark days. Buck starting limping in January. At his annual appointment, the vet mentioned it could be a torn ligament and to keep watch and come back a few weeks later if limp doesn't improve. It hasn't. For now, he limps and puts very little weight on his back right leg, but the wear and tear on the left leg could lead to two legs needing surgery. We hope addressing this right leg will save the left. Buck loves his family. Nik says he is our gentle giant- big but gentle. He is soft and cuddly and keeps us safe from big trucks and passing wildlife. Times are hard these days for everyone, and although our focus is staying ahead, the unexpected always seems to derail progress. We don't want to not help Buck because of the cost, and we are willing to put all we can to the surgery. Any help will make surgery more possible.

Punk

Punk is a 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in Asheville, NC, who needs $2,000 for Surgery.

Asheville, NC

My name is Nina, I’m 20 years old in AVL,NC. I live with my cat, Punk, and my roommate. We pay too much in rent, but we love our home. Punk has been able to enjoy outside time and has as many windows as she could dream of to stare off into. However rent is crazy in AVL. I’ve been working 2 jobs to pay rent and feel like I’m able to save. I love my life and my cat, just wasn’t prepared for this. Punk is my only child. Living with just my roommate (dog person) and I, we are each others people. She fights me with the gentlest of paws and always reminds me when it’s dinner time. She’s brave. She can be an anxious lady but I’ve seen her overcome many obstacles. And the way she’s been handling these vet appts and everyday life with this injury just proves how brave she’s really become. Punk’s favorite toy is a catnip rainbow. Her bunny kicks are incredible. We also fight a lot, since she doesn’t have another cat to play with I’ve decided I will play cat with her. She’s tries to be gentle, careful to not use her claws. (The bites are still killer) Recently, now nearing her procedure she’s started wanting to play fight again (extra gentle) Last Thursday, I heart a few clunks from my room. I find her terrified under my bed. I hear the whining and when she comes out she’s not putting any weight on her front paw. All Pets Animal Hospital in AVL was able to look at her that day. After XRays, we found she had fractured her Ulna and displaced her radius. The fracture is very close to the joint in her elbow. I am 20 years old. Punk is my first cat I’ve ever owned. I’m working two jobs. I was not prepared to have to drop 4,000 dollars in one day to get her surgery. I’ve scheduled her surgery for 3/6. I’m hoping to find the funds or be able to get a loan in time.

Bella

Bella is a 4-year-old Pitbull Terrier in Barnardville, NC, who needs $600 for IV for Kidney Failure.

Barnardville, NC

Our family has had Bella for 4 years. She is my sidekick. She never leaves my side nor do I leave hers. She loves to play and has never met a stranger. Bella loves her babies and by babies I mean all the children and grandchildren. She loves spending her time playing with the kids in the yard or she will be lazy with them on the couch, she knows all her commands and knows treats are always in her near future Bella is always running around she loves to great people and she loves treats. She loves to play fetch. She is our biggest baby. She loves when the kids slip her a chicken nugget or two! Loves the water and swimming. Bella was given a rabies shot that had a bad side effect (acute kidney failure) and she is currently fighting for her life at All pets she is on IVs and taking strong antibiotics to help her but there is still a chance it could make a turn for the worst. I’m on a fixed income and before she had the rabies vaccination was in amazing health. She goes to all her routine appointments and I just don’t have the extra income for the treatment she needs or deserves.

Basil

Basil is a 12-year-old Bengal in Weaverville, NC, who needs $425 for blood work and meds.

Weaverville, NC

Basil came into our lives by accident or as I call it, destiny. I put an add on craigslist for anyone who needed to rehome a siamese, cuz I was looking for one, and this lady contacted me about her Bengal she needed to rehome, and wanted someone used to special breeds. I always wanted one, but too expensive to buy from a breeder. We went to meet the kitty and fell instantly in love with him. He is a momma's boy for sure! From day 1 he decided to be my 2nd skin. I can't move an inch without him moving with me. He sleeps on my back/stomach when I sleep, he quiet-meows in my eyes when he wants me to get up and feed him. He's had teeth problems since we got him and can only eat canned food. He loves getting in his harness and going outside for walks in the grass & even pouts when he cant. I am on disability, and even though my husband works, we have 3 kids in the house and cost of living around here is outrageous and rent alone is $1450. I dont have enough after bills to cover vet cost all at once and they dont allow multiple payments. We got him when he was 9 (he's 12 now), and the vet has to be licensed to deal with Bengals, and the only vet here who is, is All Pets so I cant just change vets to save money. He had an upper respiratory infection and put on meds, but now there's blood in his boogers. So office visit, blood tests, fecal tests, diagnostics & medicines and they also require his yearly shots. He is obsessed with standing on everything that is put on the bed. His favorites are mail and packages, and if there's no mail put on the bed he will stomp and stand on my phone and stare are me until I give him something else to stand on. He talks constantly and even screams when he's been waiting too long for his food.
