Japon
Help Japon Heal: From Abandoned to Hopeful
Fort Collins,, CO • Amici Cannis
Japon is a 2-year-old poodle mix whose life could have ended very differently. He was found near a bus terminal by a compassionate resident who knew he needed help and brought him straight to the hospital. That single act of kindness saved his life. When Japon arrived, he was in rough condition—dangerously thin, covered in fleas, and suffering from a painful abdominal wound. Veterinary exams revealed the true extent of his injuries: Japon had suffered a traumatic impact—likely from a car or another force—that caused his intestines to herniate, a life-threatening condition. Thanks to the incredible generosity of a donor, Japon was able to undergo emergency surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. During that procedure, our medical team discovered a second hernia, requiring an additional surgical correction. Japon is now hospitalized, receiving pain management, close monitoring, and around-the-clock care as he recovers. Because Japon was abandoned, his journey isn’t over yet. He still needs: · A second surgical procedure · Sterilization · Vaccinations and deworming · Continued hospitalization and follow-up care Once healed, Japon will be placed up for adoption so he can finally know safety, stability, and love. Your donation today helps cover Japon’s remaining medical care and gives him the chance to start a new life. He survived trauma and abandonment—now he needs us to carry him the rest of the way. Please donate and be part of Japon’s rescue story. 1/20/26 Update We’re so happy to share a hopeful update on Japon. After undergoing two hernia-repair surgeries, this sweet pup is now recovering comfortably in a foster home. He has completed all of his medications, his stitches were successfully removed at his most recent check-up, and he is healthy and healing beautifully. This is the outcome we all hoped for—but it only happened because Japon received urgent, life-saving medical care when he needed it most. While Japon has come so far, his rescue isn’t fully complete. He still needs ongoing veterinary care, including sterilization, vaccinations, and follow-up visits, and we are still working to cover the significant medical costs already incurred to save his life. If you’re able, please consider donating to support Japon’s continued care and recovery. Every contribution helps ensure that this resilient little dog can move forward healthy, protected, and ready for adoption. Thank you for being part of Japon’s second chance. Together, we’re turning survival into a new beginning.
