Port Richey, FL

Rex came into my life in Aug 2022, about 1.5–2 years old, likely left to fend for himself. I took him in just before a hurricane—and he’s never left my side since. Rex lives indoors with me and my husband, where he’s deeply loved and cared for. Since taking him in, he’s been part of our family, sleeping beside me, following me everywhere, even sitting next to me while I work. Rex is suffering from a life‑threatening urinary blockage. He couldn’t empty his bladder, causing toxic buildup that can lead to kidney failure or heart arrest within 24–72 hours. I rushed him to the Animal Hospital of New Port Richey, where he’s now fighting. With help, he has a real chance to pull through. My heart is broken and I'm hopeful he will be come home. Rex is incredibly special—he’s the gentlest, most loving soul. I call him “Lover Boy” because he brings warmth and affection to everyone he meets. He senses when I’m hurting and stays close, comforting me in ways words can’t. He’s not just a pet—he’s family, my emotional support, and a piece of my heart I can’t bear to lose. This year has been incredibly hard—a bad accident I’m still recovering from, my husband’s heart issues, and the loss of another beloved pet. I’m heartbroken as bills keep piling up. Now Rex is sick—he’s my heart, and I’m doing everything I can. I just need a little help.
