Banjo was a year old when we rescued him and has been a steadfast companion for the last 11 years. With his wiry coat and expressive eyebrows, he has always exuded a charm that could melt the hardest of hearts. From the moment he bounded into our lives, he brought joy and laughter into our home. Recently, Banjo has been facing a serious medical issue. He was unable to keep any food or water down and became lethargic. We look him to see Dr. Barnett at Animal Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Dr. Barnett ran some blood tests and told us that his liver enzymes are very, very high. The treatment plan included hospitalization, medication, and IV fluids. Each day with Banjo has been a treasure. His playful antics, whether chasing after a ball or getting us with uncontainable excitement when we return home, remind us of the simple pleasures in life. Every wag of his tail feels like a celebration, a reminder to appreciate the present. My spouse and I have recently become disabled and are unable to pay for his medical care as our social security barely covers our living expenses. We've tried applying for credit cards and carecredit and have been denied for our fixed income.
