Squirley

Squirley is a 2 year old Japanese Bobtail in Sugar grove, NC, who needs $200 for Emergency.

Sugar grove, NC

Squirley is white with orange blotches, he has a bob tail. He was born with 1other sibling a orange long haird brother named pumpkin. Squirley loves watching tv with the family, he also loves hanging out with me while I take a bath. He's actually fell in the bath with me a few times. After the hurricane helene hit us where we live, I noticed a wound on his belly near his back leg it is extremely swollen like the size of a grapefruit. It appears to be infected. He almost never meows. He is super friendly to other cats. He loves sneaking inside of cars and taking a nap. He loves playing with laser lights. He sits sitting on his but like a person all the time. He has a thing for catching snakes which im not a fan of but I can see the excitement he gets from hunting them and bringing them in the house. My family is really struggling financially, We have no savings and are behind on utility bills, as well as having our only vehicle no longer safe to drive. He is part of our family, and it brakes me knowing he's in constant pain and not being able to take care of him.

Lillie

Lillie is a 15-year-old American Shorthair Cat in Banner Elk, NC, who needs $200 for Head Infection.

Banner Elk, NC

Lillie is my special angel. She adopted me. My neighbor in Ohio would not let her inside even in the winter so she turned feral. Took me 3 months for her to come to me and let me pet her on the head. Now she very spoiled rotten. She stays inside most of the time. She loves laying beside me in bed. And of course loves butting my head to pet her. Lillie is the queen of the household. She doesn't put up with anything. She looks just like the grumpy cat when something is not going her way. We also have 3 more cats and 4 dogs. She gets along with all of them but if they make her mad, she will smack them. Lillie is momma's baby. I love spoiling her. Lillie is special because she chose me. She is the most loving caring cat I have ever had. Whenever I'm down or not feeling well, she is right there by my side and stays with me all day. She brighten my day with that special look that says I love you momma. Lillie likes to go outside during the day when it's warm. Lillie has a heart murmur but that doesn't stop her. A few days ago I noticed that she had mucus in one of her eyes and black under her mouth. I took a warm wash cloth and got the mucus out of her eye and the black around her mouth. Now she has one eye closed and the other one has mucus in it and the black ring is back. I'm on disability which is not a lot to live on. Lillie needs to go to the vet very soon to take care of this mess. I hate asking for help but this is my baby girl and she means so much to me

Georgia

Georgia is a 2-year-old Pit mix in Boone, NC, who needs $275 for Ear Cytology and diagnosis.

Boone, NC

Two years ago my 2 children and I moved into an apartment after being pretty much homeless for 4 months prior. My daughter begged and begged to get a dog... Finally I gave in after 5 months of constant begging... We adopted Georgia from the Humane Society at 6 weeks old and she's been the best companion anyone could ever ask for. We also have adopted a stray cat that has become her best friend! Georgia has a very strong personality. She loves attention, she loves learning new tricks and she is incredibly intelligent. She has to sleep with myself or my daughter under the covers and she refuses to be left alone unless its absolutely necessary. She pouts and looks like Eeyore if she gets upset or left alone or if she is scolded. She loves to be with the kids and I no matter where we are. Due to the corona virus I have not been able to work hardly at all. I have very little help or support I have had to be at home with my kids on a constant daily basis. I have no other income and it hurts me to see Georgia in pain every day and not being able to do anything. Georgia unfortunately has Pyoderma. She is allergic to A LOT of things and about two months ago her ears got infected and I am yet to relieve the constant pain that she stays in. I have taken her to the vet twice and each time I am not able to afford the complete treatment she needs in order to overcome this. She needs an ear culture and and ear rinse and several medications to get better. Georgia is a one of a kind. We live in a big apartment complex and everyday when i walk Georgia there's not one person who sees us or passes us that doesn't call out to Georgia or is stopping to pet her. I don' even know half of these people but EVERYONE knows Georgia. She LOVES kids and i am yet to meet a kid or adult who doesn't absolutely adore her. She's like the neighborhood "nanny dog"!!

Leila

Leila is a 11-year-old Shih Tzu mix in Boone, NC, who needs $2,000 for dental assessment.

Boone, NC

My name is Kara and I work at Appalachian New River Vet. I am making this account for one of our clients, Laura Coston. She has some health issues that prevent her from making her own Waggle account but she has given me permission to share Leila's story for her. She has had Leila since she was a puppy, and she is now 11 years old. She has travelled all over with her and even lived in Florida with her for some time. The client has had a lot of dogs in her life time but Leila is the one she is most bonded with. She is a sweet cuddlebug that has helped the client get through a lot of tough times, including some health struggles of her own.

Photo of Eisley

Eisley

Eisley is a 6-year-old Rottweiler in Vilas, NC, who needs $1,212 for mass removal and biopsy.

Vilas, NC

I adopted Eisley (pronounced I-zlee, formerly named Roxy) in March 2013 from a co-worker who could no longer keep her. She was 8 months old and I was barely 23. I had just moved to Boone about 6 months prior from my hometown of Virginia Beach and I was not looking to adopt a dog. But the moment I met her, tied to a tree in my co-worker's front yard, I knew I wouldn't be leaving her there. She came home with me that same night and we've been together ever since. A year later, I adopted Emma from the Watauga Humane Society so that Eisley would have company during the work / school day. These dogs have seen me through the death of my mother and cousin, the near death of their bird brother, multiple knee surgeries, working my way through my bachelor's and master's degrees in social work, getting my first job in the field, and countless other transitions and hardships (big and small) throughout the years. Including multiple surgeries on Emma - most recently emergency surgery in February 2019 to remove an intestinal blockage caused by a ball of grass. Through all of these hardships, I bury my face in Eisley's fur and breathe deep to find renewed strength and solace. I'm not exaggerating - that's one of my primary coping skills. I swear I didn't know love - how to give it or receive it - until she came into my life, and my life has revolved around her and Emma since our first day together. I wouldn't change it for anything.
