Lemu

Lemu is a 2 month old Emu in Newark, MO, who needs $600 for Surgery for Slipped Tendon in Right Hock Joint.

Newark, MO

Lemu was a bday gift from my parents on April 18th when he was 8 days old named after the emu (Limu) in the liberty mutual insurance commercial there are 6 laying chickens (hens only) that are 1 year old and 1 male guinea fowl that is less than a year old that are at the home Lemu has a slipped tendon in the right hock joint that needs surgery in order for him to survive after many many calls to veterinarians I'd finally found one that would see him and informed me that without surgery they'd recommend euthanizing him (which I cannot do) and his only chance at living a full quality life is to have the surgery Lemu has hardly ever not been right by my side since the day we met even goes shopping with me goes for drives and play dates to my parents even stayed at a hotel with me once because when I dropped him off at the babysitter I was sure he was gonna hurt himself trying to get out to find me he's been my companion, best friend and a very very loving part of my family My husband is still recovering from a fractured skull, broken nose, broken shoulder, a few fingers & 4 lacerations to face/forehead that exposed bone from a boat propeller strike, lucky to be alive, on the way to his appointment vehicle broke down still trying to get fixed

Charlie

Charlie is a 1 year old Parakeet in St. Louis, , who needs $1,600 for Bloodwork Test, Antibiotics, and Hospitalization.

St. Louis

Charlie is a young boy parakeet that we adopted in March 2024. He was less than five months old at the time, and he rapidly bonded with our six year old girl parakeet Stevie. They have been playing with their many toys, and singing to the tune of cartoon shows and pop music together. Unfortunately, we noticed Charlie's beak has been overgrown and he was more quiet and less active recently. We brought him to Kersting Veterinary Hospital, after bloodwork tests, it turns out he has a liver infection. He has been prescribed an antibiotic treatment and ideally he needs to stay under observation at the hospital until he has completely recovered. Charlie is very curious, loves singing, foraging, and getting into staring contests with the other pets in our home as well. Bringing Charlie in to live with Stevie has changed both of their lives completely. He's loved very much by Stevie, who was originally a rescue. She has struggled alone for many years, without a partner to bond with. They take care of each other and play together. We are a couple with a dog, a cat and these two birds, renting our home on a single wage. We've had vet bills we could manage in the past, but this time, with the tests and hospital stay, it's over what we can spare each month. We want the best care possible for Charlie.
