I found her the day after this years Halloween in my shed, freezing, starving, and badly injured with a crushed paw. I've taken her for 2 checkups now both 80 something dollars now it's been confirmed that her leg is going to have to come off. This an EMERGENCY! As I don't have the fund necessary for even half the surgey for her paw amputation and if I wait until I do then she will not survive the months need to do that. The hospital is Dover Broadview Animal Hospital. In just the week since we have rescued her she has gotten very energetic and vocal haha. We were able to get her to be adopted my sisters cat who recently had a kitten of her own. She loves to play with the other kitten and has been able to feed and nurse well, not only that getting her potty trained has been a breeze! I'm embarrassed that I wasn't prepared for any of this but with my current living situation like rent and other bill I just wasn't prepared for 2500+ vet bill on top of my already 2700 dollars rent plus utilities but I have payment plans for that set up with my roommates.

Our kids had always wanted a pet, but the timing was never quite right. During Covid, we moved to live near family and soon had a home and yard of our own that was the perfect place. A family member’s cat had kittens in 2022 and we fell in love. We connected with one in particular right away. We named her Dottie after a farm animal that had once lived at our family’s historic farm. While out a couple of mornings ago, she returned limping. We thought she would sleep it off and be fine- she’s gotten small injuries before. But after being lethargic and not moving for a day and a half, we brought her to urgent care. She cried in pain. They referred us to the pet ER where they did x-rays and told us our options were to do reparative surgery or amputate. Dottie is an extremely active indoor/outdoor cat. She loves to hunt and explore and is very loyal to our family. Even if she is gone all day, she will return- waiting at our doorstep. She’s a part of our family. She has so much love to give and life left to live- she turns two in May. We have often said we would love to put a camera on her and see what she does all day! We are both self employed people who live humbly. We do all our own work on our vehicles and home. Our son goes to college in the fall. We humbly ask for people to consider helping us make it possible for Dottie to have her leg repaired and rejoin our family.
