Bowie

Bowie is a 4 year old Shih Tzu in Effort , PA, who needs $2,000 for Hip Surgery.

Effort, PA

We rescued Bowie last year from a shelter in Allentown. He went from a city to a country dog. I am not sure he ever saw grass before. But he has thrived. He is funny, energetic, playful, and a member of a growing family. Bowie is the heart of the family. Bowie loved chasing cars and Everytime he sees an open door tries running out of the door. My husband just came home from work and opened the garage door as I was in the garage getting something from the fridge for dinner. Bowie got out and ran down the drive way after a car. I stead of stopping, the car hit him. We took him to Barton Emergency Vet Hospital and his hips are broken. Bowie is playful, silly, energetic and loving. He has a special relationship with each of our children. He also has formed a special relationship with my husband. He is my baby and follows me everywhere! He loves running in tall grass, running after his kids, going for walks and going for swims in the pool and bathtub. We are a working class family. My husband was recently laid off and just started a new job. I lost a job this past year and was on a prorated rate. We are still recovering. We can not afford a 6 to 8 thousand dollar surgery which Bowie requires.

Mau

Mau is a 10-year-old Domestic Shorthair Cat in East Stroudsburg, PA, who needs $1,500 for Ultrasound, Medication, Prescription Food.

East Stroudsburg, PA

Mau came into my life in November of 2020. I had always wanted a cat, but my mom was allergic so I couldn’t grow up with one. When it finally came time to adopt a fur baby, I found Mau on pet finder looking so dapper but also with these sad eyes. I heard him meow for the first time at the shelter and knew instantly he was mine. He had been in that shelter for 185 days before I brought him home. Mau is very aloof, but when he wants attention, he makes his presence well known. He’s a very vocal and playful boy, when he wants to be. He’s not a very cuddly boy, but he has a steadfast presence. He loves to sit near me and knows exactly when I’m feeling blue, and comes right in with the rare cuddles. He’s extremely in tune with my emotional needs and is an amazing emotional support cat. Mau’s most interesting characteristic is his habit of walking around the house with this toy pumpkin in his mouth, screaming. He just wants you to know he has his pumpkin. He doesn’t want you to play with him when he has his pumpkin (I’ve tried). He just simply wants you to know he has it and he loves it. It’s my favorite thing about him. Recently, Mau has been losing weight and not eating or drinking very much. On December 6, I took him to the vet, and he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. The vet has no idea what is causing his pancreatitis. He is currently being hospitalized and treated. Mau needs hospitalization, an ultrasound to determine what is causing the pancreatitis, and various medications, as well as a prescription diet now. Without this course of treatment, this pancreatitis will be fatal.
