Hey everyone! Well, the time has come for the next step in Drift's medical journey. Her condition has worsened and she now needs a left hind leg amputation. I have done everything I can to prepare for this moment --including switching jobs for more income. However, we are not financially prepared for this step to happen so soon. If you can help, then thank you. Prayers are also accepted. Drift's lump has massively increased in size. I have had multiple vet opinions. We have x-rays telling a partial story. Someone shot Drift with a pellet gun. There are two pellets in her body. The vet theory is that one of the pellets grazed a vein and caused a hematoma and that it may have opened back up which is causing more blood to accumulate under the skin. Immediate amputation needed. Drift reminds me of why I became a dog trainer. She pushes every boundary while loving our family completely. She is a stubborn husky soul that will trot just out of reach if she gets offleash. "Here" is our most practiced command. Drift loves to train and is extremely smart. She is an amazing fifth addition to our home. She even tolerates our two 4-year-olds. Time was not on our side. The vet estimates $1100 or more for this highly complicated surgery alone.
