Stella

Stella is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Concord, NC, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Repair of ACL.

Concord, NC

Our dog, Roxy, in her senior years craved canine companionship. We took a chance and went to the local animal shelter and in a corner was this lively little brown brindle and white puppy. She had the kindest eyes. We learned she made it there from a high kill shelter, where she had been dumped. It took less than 90 seconds to know We were her people. We took Stella home right then. This morning, Stella couldn't put her left hind foot down and we knew right then something was wrong. We immediately took her to UrgentVet and she was diagnosed with a torn ACL. We will follow up at Hambright Animal Hospital for plannimg surgery to repair the ACL. Stella is on strict rest until she sees the vet at Hambright. Stella is the sweetest, smartest, best girl. She survived abuse, being dumped at a high kill shelter, and a bout of IVDD. Despite it all, she's maintained her kind and trusting nature. She loves to be in our laps and is the easiest dog ever. She also warns us when our son, who has Autism, is about to have a sensory overload meltdown. She's had no training for this, she just knows. We love her so! This morning, Stella couldn't put down her left hind. A trip to UrgentVets revealed she's torn her ACL and will need surgical repair. We've been told this can range from $3500 to up to $8000. We're a typical family who doesn't just have that kind of money at our disposal.

Mia

Mia is a 10 year old American Shorthair in Charlotte, NC, who needs $1,000 for Dental Grade 2 and 2 Fractured Canines.

Charlotte, NC

I like to say the universe brought us together. Mia is a 10 year old female tuxedo cat who has had a ruff start and for the past year has moved from one household to another. I was cat sitting for her previous owner for almost 8 weeks when she decided she cannot take her at her new location. I stepped up to adopt to give her a consistent home. She has two broken front teeth and an advanced case of gingivitis. Dr. Is concerned if teeth are not removed it can cause an infection that would make matters worst. Mia is the sweetest, smartest and most well-behaved pet I have ever encountered. It makes me sad how her two previous owners neglected her care when she’s so easy. She’s a smart older lady, attentive, very social, gets along with everyone. She becomes a full huntress whenever we play with the laser lights, and likes to check on me every morning by sitting on my chest. As I have just became Mia’s owner this month and previous owner did not forewarn me of any medical issues. I just do not have the finances to assist with the surgery right now, and would like to give her stable home in her golden years.

Brazil

Brazil is a 12-year-old Yorkie Poodle in Huntersville, NC, who needs $500 for Hospitalization with BG Monitoring and Insulin Therapy.

Huntersville, NC

My dear Brazil was gifted to me 12 years ago as a tiny puppy. I remember the feeling of seeing her day one and the car ride to Petsmart that same day. In these 12 years she’s been there with me every single day through it all. Our bond is undeniable and my love for her is beyond measure. Currently I’m a stay at home mom with two children who also love her & cater to her during this sad experience Brazil gives my kids so much love and attention. It’s heartbreaking to see her health slowly decline to slowly stop giving her usual energy to them. My husband desperately wants to try to help as much as possible but it’s still not enough to potentially save her life and keep my furry best friend here. Brazil is little my “human”. Since day one it’s almost like she knows exactly what I’m saying! She’s my gossip partner when I’m suppose to keep a secret. My right hand, who always seems to know how to cheer me up when I’m sad. A man’s best friend is an understatement when describing Brazil and all the love and laughter she has brought into my life. Currently Brazil is in urgent need of hospitalization with IV & Insulin therapy. She’s been losing weight tremendously fast in the past two weeks and after senior dog testing she shows signs of possible liver & Diabetes issues. To top it all off she has a heart murmur. Her activity levels has decreased and now more than ever we could use help! Our family is currently pressed financially because we are on one income in an area that cost of living surpass income. While financially we’re strained, we want more than anything in the world to give Brazil more life and more time on earth. Our hearts are so broken.

Beans

Beans is a 3-year-old Bombay Mix Cat in Charlotte, NC, who needs $2,000 for Full Mouth Extraction.

Charlotte, NC

My oldest child adopted two all-black kittens (littermates) in 2019; Muffin was the boy, and his sister’s name is Beans. Sadly, FIP took Muffin from us a year after we got him. Beans had a comprehensive exam shortly after Muffin died; and at the time, she was in perfect health. She did miss her brother terribly, but we made sure to give her extra love. Beans is a super sweet, loving cat who never used to have any issues behaviorally. Lately (the past few months), she has acted out with other cats during normal interactions. She went back to the vet last week due to having lost several incisors (front teeth), and the vet strongly felt she had stomatitis. A cleaning was scheduled for today (September 2). Beans doesn’t meow; rather, she has the cutest little chirp-trill sound. She can be very loving but her pain has altered that behavior; currently she only rarely seeks out love and attention. Her brother loved to do the “fly by,” as we called it; he’d be walking past us, stop just long enough to swipe us with his tongue, and continue on his way. So here we are. Beans is actually under anaesthesia as I am writing this. A full mouth extraction is recommended; we do have enough to cover the cleaning, but cannot add any extractions at this time. We will need to do a staged treatment plan; which means it will go even higher, depending on how many stages we will need to do in order to complete the full-mouth extraction. I had to leave a toxic job last week; and do not start my new job for another week. I also have a fairly large car payment due in two weeks. My daughter used her Care Credit last year to help with a $2k surgery on another of our cats; and is still trying to pay that off.
