One cold November day, my daughter found Inky and her sister. They were left outside in a box with nothing but a scarf to keep them warm. My daughter rushed them home so they wouldn't freeze. They were just babies. We bathed them to get rid of all the fleas and I had to syringe feed them every 3 hours everyday until they were able to eat solid food. They've been my babies ever since. Inky has been diagnosed with megacolon and urgently needs surgery. Her colon has been weakening over time despite our efforts to improve its function. Her surgery will cost in excess of $10K and will be performed by Long Island Veterinary Specialists. She is no longer able to poop on her own. Due to the impaction, she is also not able to eat and now weighs under 5 lbs. This surgery is critical. She is the sweetest kitty. Unlike my other cats, she is calm, quiet and reserved. She loves head butts, chin scritches, paper bags, making biscuits and has the loudest purrs. She is not a big cuddler but will let you know that she loves you in her own way - sitting close behind you on the back of the sofa and rolling onto her back so you can give her belly rubs. I own a wellness business but I was not able to take a salary this year. All my revenue went toward paying company bills to keep my business running. I had to apply for food stamps to pay for groceries. My daughter is working 2 part time jobs to help pay household expenses.
