Help Mickey get Blood panel for infections — La Pine, OR

La Pine, OR

Mickey is a 15 year old rescue from Washington that I found out about through a Facebook post from Oasis Animal Foundation. When I read about his plight and found out that this poor old man was going to be homeless without an owner or someone to care for him I couldn't stop thinking about it and I had to bring him to my home. He was neglected and unfed and uncared for most of his life so it was surprising when he got here that he was so comfortable so quickly so trusting and so loving right off the bat. Mickey has ulcerated teeth and infected gums and also kennel cough which at his age could very quickly turn into serious pneumonia or bronchitis which could easily be fatal to him. Mickey needs to have his infected gums treated with antibiotics and his kennel cough treated with a different kind of antibiotics and also gabapentin for the nerve pain that he's feeling in his mouth and throat. After The infection is treated he can have surgery necessary to remove his teeth (mostly all of them) that are infected and ulcerated and causing extreme pain so that he can hardly eat anything. The hospital that I have chosen to provide care for him since I got him on the 6th of September is La Pine Animal Hospital in Lapine Oregon. Also, the pads of his feet are very tender, raw and flattened out on the bottom because he spent his entire life basically living in an environment made of concrete & wood with little to no access to the outside. His recovery matters to me more than anything in my life right now because he's an old guy and he's led a very hard, unstable and abusive life and he deserves to spend the rest of his days no matter how long they are in comfort with love, safety and stability surrounding him. Not spending it in pain, starving because he cannot chew and suffocating on his coughs which are progressively getting more severe. I am currently awaiting a disability appeal hearing because of a fractured arm & wrist that has gone untreated for 3 years so I am unable to work currently. I have an apartment that is fully funded by Neighbor Impact, but as far as means to cover the high costs of veterinary care I simply do not have the ability to fund the vet visits, the prescriptions and the surgery.
