Kassie has been with our family for almost 10 years. She is a happy girl who loves to chase balls and snuggle with everyone in the family. On the night before Thanksgiving she came back inside limping, somehow with her leg fractured in 3 places. Petco said our only option was amputation but Dr. Emmert was able to save it with 2 plates. Kassie loves her mommy and daddy the most but she doesn’t mind the 3 kids, especially when they try to sneak her their dinners. She loves to play with tennis balls and get belly rubs. Alternatively, she will settle for having her paw held while you sit next to her. Kassie is a goofball. She can hear a can of tennis balls opened inside the house and she’ll come bolting in. She lets the kiddos snuggle with her whenever they want, even if sometimes they are a little too rowdy. She always has a big smile on her face. Kassie broke her leg in 3 places and had to have 2 plates put in by Dr. Emmert at McGee Street Animal Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma. The surgery went well but her stitches are very red and tender. Update - The surgery failed and there is a new fracture above the plate. Dr. Emmert is redoing the surgery. We live month to month. The kids have SoonerCare for now. We buy little more than we need and are unable to keep a good sized emergency fund because any time we manage to get a little built up something always happens that it needs to be used for and it’s never enough.
