Charlie
Charlie is a 8 year old Poodle in Michigan City, IN, who needs $8,227 for Left CCL Rupture Bilateral Medial Patellar Luxation.
Michigan City, IN
Charlie has had 2 previous owners. Charlie came to us Oct 14,2021. Born 2017. Daughters friends had him in a small caged for more than 10 hours a day, when not caged he was in a dark basement, and fed cat food. Now he has a backyard to run in and no more cages. He's been with us for 5 years, he has so many years left. Charlie has been diagnosed with Left Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) rupture and bilateral medial patellar luxation. Left stifle is more severely affected with a suspected complete cruciate tear. Michigan City Animal Hospital. Doc. Baily (surgeon) and Doc. Patillo Charlie was so active, running all over the place, we have a fence in yard. We couldn't cage him, so we put up gates in our home. He sits with us when we watch tv. He looks out the window, and he goes outside as many times as he wants. He's social and loves everybody. He's become part of this family. And it would be so nice just to see him getting around, We are retired now. We had dogs over the years, and have taken good medical care of them. There was alway a medical reason for euthanizing, with Charlie there's not. The surgery is just to costly for us now, were managing some of it. We are seeking any assistance. Thank you.

Howard (Howie)
Howard (Howie) is a 3-year-old Shepherd Husky mix in Michigan City, IN, who needs $1,400 for testing and diagnostics.
Michigan city, IN
Howard, Howie for short came into my life 3 shorts years ago. After the sudden passing of my father. As silly as it sounds I even named, Howie, after my father's middle name. He's been a very big emotional support for me. He can sense when I am down and cuddles with me. He's laid with me while I cried myself to sleep. He's been there through my worst and now my better days. He's the biggest baby. He's a cuddle bug. He sleeps with me in my bed. He loves hiking and playing in the backyard. He has 4 kids at home who keep him busy and spoiled. He has filled out home with love when we needed it the most. He's taught his kid siblings how to care for animals and compassion for others. Due to Covid last year I haven't been able to work with my kids being home from school I had to be home with them. we've been on a limited income. Now that things are going back to normal I do plan to going to school so I can provide a better life for my kids and Howie. I am seeking emergency help, a week ago I came home from grocery shopping and he was laying in my bed. I went to pet him and he whined. So I took a step back and called him to me, that's when I noticed he was moving slow and his back right leg was up. I assumed he was hurting cause I hadn't got the chance to cut his nails but even after that the paw is still up. I don't know what happened. I honestly didn't know I could put into words what Howie means to our family. He's the spark we all needed at a very trying time. He loves squeaky toy and cuddles. He howls and talks a lot, especially when he feels you're sad. When I was at my worst he could almost sense when I was down, he'd come and nudge me, wedged himself in my arms and cuddle with me. If I didn't immediately get it, he'd whine.

Rascal
Rascal is a 5-year-old Shepard/Akita mix in Lake Station, IN, who needs $553 for Right anal sac removal.
Lake Station, IN
My dad always wanted a dog and to name it Rascal. My sister was visiting for Christmas and we decided to make his wish come true. December 21, 2016 this beautiful creature chose us to adopt her from Miller Indiana Humane Society. She is the most chill dog I have ever met. We was approx 1 year old and a Shepard/Akita mix on that day. Since my dad has passed away she is more MY sidekick and friend. Rascal I feel is more of a support dog. She has so much patience for babies and toddlers. She hates storms and fireworks and I've researched many things to make those easier for her. Finally had to get a med from vet. Each night she had a routine with my sister to fight "monsters" which are plain animal cookies. Most everything else is done by or with me like sleeping next to me. I mentioned before I have lupus. Most days I'm fine but I am on very limited disability. I really hate asking for help with ANYTHING but I'm putting my pride away for her. Rascal can't take care of this and it's up to me to help her. She means the world to me. Dad passed and money has been REALLY tight. Sister moved in but COVID-19 made things worse for her as far as work which also affected me. Thank goodness we received stimulus check. Paid what we had to and reserved some for Rascal for checkup at Lake Station Pet Clinic in Indiana. The exams and bloodwork took all the reserve money. During exam they found 2 knots in anal gland. Glad must be removed. Rascal is definitely a character. She is a clown. Since I have lupus there's days I don't feel all that good. I'll make sure she's been out to do her business and she gets fresh everything when she comes in for breakfast and then I'll go lay back down. Only takes about 5 minutes before she knows to come find me and lay with me until I feel better or one of us has to go to the bathroom lol.

Spooky
Spooky is a 10-year-old Domestic Short Hair in Michigan City , IN, who needs $260 for Bloodwork/X-Rays.
Michigan City, IN
We rescued Spooky and her twin sister in November of 2009. She was only 6 months old and wasn’t wanted by the owner of the mother cat. He left them outside to fend for themselves. They were very friendly and playful and we couldn’t just turn our backs on them. We brought them home and they have been an important part of our family since then. We love them very much. Spooky and her twin sister Pumpkin are very close. They eat, sleep, and play together. More times than not they are cuddled up together in their bed and you can’t tell where one ends and the other begins. If they’re not sleeping they’ll be curled up cleaning each other. Spooky also loves to cuddle up with her humans and loves attention. I often wake up in the mornings with her laying on me. We were living paycheck to paycheck before the Covid 19 shutdown and now, with reduced income, bills are piling up. We have no savings and were declined for credit help. I can’t let the worst happen to Spooky because we don’t have money for something that is treatable. Recently she had an anal sac rupture, when she was weighed she was about 2 pounds lighter than her last visit. Bloodwork was done and she was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid. She’s taking medication now and has gained some weight back but now has another problem. She isn’t eating much and is vomiting daily. It’s been a week now and needs to go to the Michigan City Animal Hospital ASAP. Spooky is a cuddler, especially in bed and whenever she lays on me she wants to be petted. If I stop she gently puts her paw on my face and seems to pet me until I start petting her again. One weird thing she does is she likes to maintain eye contact when I’m petting her.If I look away she puts her paw on my face until I look at her again. It always makes me laugh.
