I had been telling my kids no to a dog, waiting for that perfect, responsible age. It wasn't on my radar until I saw those honey eyes recurring on my IG feed. A boy from Tennessee was removed due to malnutrition, poor living conditions and neglect. He had a huge fan group, but was at the shelter for months. He needed a family to love and protect, and for some strange reason, I knew he was ours. Less than a year later, Winston is my soul dog. What a mama's boy! Winston is an instant stress reliever for all of us. He loves his human siblings. He loves sleepovers, soaking up the affection from the kids' friends. Winston comes on adventures to the best of his physical abilities, especially if there's a pup cup involved. Watching him make this his home has been the most rewarding experience. Growing up, I loved my many family dogs, but Winston is special. Winston loves to watch the birds up in the trees. He likes to saunter through tidal pools at the beach. Bark boxes are the most exciting. He enjoys walking the cranberry bog next door, and strolling farmer's markets for homemade treats. Winston provides endless love, loyalty, laughter, and pure joy. I just knew he was meant for us. After spending thousands on specialists and x-rays, we finally found a surgeon with experience and confidence to help. He has severe hip dysplasia and a dislocated knee. He has bone-on-bone contact in his hips with every move, and his knee dislocates daily. He already has major difficulty walking at the ripe age of 1. Winston's diagnoses are too severe to medicate, and his quality of life suffers. I have been a single mom for 10 years, working multiple jobs and going to school to provide the best life for my family. I never expected this type of financial strain for a pup, and am deeply appreciative of any help. Winston truly saved my life. It's my turn to save his.
