Shadow the Mystery Cat
Help Shadow the Mystery Cat get Ongoing medication for diarrhea and wounds — Sturgis, SD
Sturgis, SD
I heard about a skinny, homeless kitty in my neighborhood on September 29th. After seeing his wounds and starving condition I chose to trap him and get him care. I named him Shadow the Mystery Cat and he is a sweetheart. I tried to care for him for 2 days but I wasn't able to stop his extreme diarrhea and feared he was dehydrated. He also had wounds from the diarrhea to his legs and butt. My vet was willing to see him. He was severely dehydrated from the diarrhea and needed to stay to receive i.v. fluids and medication to stop the diarrhea. He has remained there for 4 days and is getting better. He will need extra care when he is discharged and I am happy to do that. He will be on antibiotics, probiotics, ointment for his wounds and steroids. He will need a bath daily until the diarrhea is gone. As you know, the cost of his care is going to be high. I have gotten some of the people who have been following his story to donate to his bill. So far that has raised $90. I am asking for your help. I am not equipped to cover the cost but I knew if I didn't help him he would die a horrible, loveless death. It's not his fault people regard cats as disposable. I'm praying you can help. Sincerely, Laurie Ott and Shadow the Mystery Cat He has a raging intestinal infection causing diarrhea which in turn causes dehydration. He has wounds on his legs and butt fro what the vet calls "scorching diarrhea ". He has been at the clinic 4 days so far. He is receiving i.v. fluids, antibiotics, steroids and special food. He is in Northern Hills Vet Clinic in Sturgis Sd. Shadow the Mystery Cat was clearly dumped by someone who thinks cats can survive on their own. Any person with sense knows a family pet doesn't have the skills needed to survive on their own. Left unrescued, Shadow would have been facing a long cold winter in South Dakota. Already malnourished at 4 pounds with terrible diarrhea, he would have died cold and alone. As sick as he was when we trapped him, covered in poop, his front paws caked with dried tar and with open wounds on his back legs, he still managed to push against my hand when I rubbed his head. He wants to live and be loved. I did not plan to rescue a homeless cat. I don't have the money to rescue a homeless cat. But I couldn't not do anything. He matters.

We are currently living with my mom. Binx was a rescue kitten. I’ve had him most of his life. We have another cat named Maggie and a dog named Maddi living here too! Binx was seen a week ago at Northern Hill vet clinic. I took him in to get his eye looked at. Binx’s eye was watery and seemed painful for him. Come to find out he had an ulcer on his eye. I was given instructions on how to treat the ulcer but the day before his next appointment the ulcer popped and there’s no more hope to save the eye! Binx is a very happy boy! He’s playful, loves other animals and is very cuddly. Binx can be shy at first with strangers but once he figures them out he’ll be all over them! When I first noticed Binx’s eye I made an appointment right away. I did not expect for it to get worse this quickly. I don’t have any emergency saving to help him! It would mean the world to me to have binx to his regular self again!
