Bear

Bear is a 2-year-old Miniature Schnauzer in Minneaopolis, MN, who needs $1,100 for Bladder Stone Removal.

Minneaopolis, MN • Minneapolis Schnauzer Rescue

Bear, a black male toy schnauzer, came to our rescue in 10/22 because the previous owner was not able to control or train him. We adopted him to a very passionate schnauzer mom, who had adopted two other miniature schnauzers from our rescue within the past 12 years. Both lived to be past 15 years old. Her dogs are her children, and she will do anything for them to keep them happy and healthy. The passing of her first schnauzer in 10/21 was so devastating for her that she decided to adopt another small dog from another rescue. We knew because of her extreme love and caring nature, we had to introduce her to Bear because of her deep affection for schnauzers. When introduced, it was love at first sight! Bear also gained the love of her two other dogs. Bear’s fearless and outgoing personality, he taught the other rescue dog how to play and be a dog. He is also good at keeping the older schnauzer active in the back yard! After a year of ownership, Bear has acclimated very well to his new home and fur siblings. However, with rescue pups, inbreeding can bring on a series of problems. He has serious intestinal issues and most recently, blood in his urine. When given X-rays, it was revealed he had crystals in his bladder. After a month of prescription food, it did not work as the follow-up appt. X-rays revealed two large stones. Major surgery is needed costing $1,100 to be performed at: Nova Vet. Clinic. Bear’s mom is worried as to how she is going to afford it because she already spends a significant amount on her older schnauzer for medications for a heart murmur and Cushing’s Disease. It would mean the world to her for help with Bear surgery.
