I found her on June 1st in an empty field behind a gas station in a very low poverty area of North Birmingham Alabama on my commute home. She is currently residing with me and my 7 other pets. She is needing a back leg amputation due to a fractured femor that healed incorrectly which causes her to be in permanent limp mode. Dr Beers with Oak view animal Hospital has graciously given me a professional discount so the total is $500 It actually took me getting a wire kennel and turning it into a trap using a few leads and some canned food to lure her in because she was so scared of people.Seconds after she was caught she turned into a loving little pup that I think was just terrified and exhausted from living on the streets and fending for her self while being injured. She has the sweetest temper and loves everyone she meets! I have several pets of my own that have all been strays that I have found over the years and one that is 17 years old that recently needed dental work and a cancerous tumor which has depleted my extra funding for veterinary care.

I volunteered to help deliver groceries to the elderly! Loaded up and unloaded I spotted a young white pup chained to a brick opening on side of a house. yes I was startled to see the horrible injustice. As I left I was forever changed. I would find a way to help this White Dog. Looking back and found my reason she had no water or food. Just eating metal plates and cigarettes. Soon I would learn Jesse had an ear infection. I went to Oak View Animal Clinic on Hwy 31 Birmingham Alabama. I was very lucky to have a dedicated Vet to suggest a course of action using steriods antibodics I knew my Dog Jesse would have the best chance at full recovery. Jesse grew or Jesse doubled in size she is so grateful now that she can finally run without a chain tied to her neck by previous owner. She has a entire Sunroom to rest and pay looking out the windows. She has 2 older sisters age 12 that must be separated due to Jesses size and strength. She loves to watch her sister KITTY. As a widow of 10yrs we have developed our own family. As a disabled Arthritis patient I am living on 1500 a month trying to give and provide pet food and toys bones and medicines for all 4 animals. I do have a near by pet pantry who has saved this arrangement of rescue animals. I took all in due to abandonment of owners.

Benji was originally adopted from a local shelter by an individual who after deciding she no longer wanted him, intended to dump him. Her daughter reached out to the FB community to rehome him. I saw his face and I just knew he had to come home with me. Benji arrived filthy with incredibly long toenails - I don’t think he had experienced much love. He is pretty active, loves toys, loves his sister, and has enjoyed learning to eat dog appropriate people food. A few of his favorites are bananas, carrots, apples, and peanut butter. Benji follows me wherever I go and sleeps with me at night. He has become a very loved companion to both his sister and me.
