LJ
LJ is a 15-year-old Pitbull Terrier in Carson City , NV, who needs $774 for Parathyroid Gland Removal.
Carson City, NV
LJ is an American Pit Bull terrier that we adopted from the Nevada Humane Society in 2018. When we adopted him, the shelter had him aged at about 9 years old, and he had been in the shelter for close to a year. When we went to the shelter, it wasn't with the intention of adopting an animal ourselves, but when he saw us walk through the door, he got so excited. He chose us and I couldn't say no. LJ has to be sleeping in bed with you, under the covers. Mostly he is a couch potato, unless he sees another dog or human walking past the house. He tries to play fetch but because of his age, he gets tired quickly, and if another dog gets the ball before him, he is a very sore loser. He always barks and twitches in his sleep, guarding the house and family in his dreams. Every morning when I leave for work, he does his best to convince me to stay home and go back to bed. When I come home, he barks and lets the whole house know how much he missed me. Sometimes he will run up to me with a big cheesy smile and jump up to greet me. He will carry his food bowl around the house and let you know he is hungry, even if he just got a big bowl rice, chicken and veggies. One of his parathyroid glands stopped functioning, so the calcium levels were building up dangerously. The glands are found on either side of the jugular, making the procedure risky as it is, let alone on a senior dog. The elevated calcium levels were causing many concerning symptoms, including seizures. He also had a chronic toe infection that led to the amputation of his toe. We are on a fixed income while raising a teenager, and 5 other rescues. Before us, LJ was misunderstood because of his breed. Over the last 5 years I've seen his confidence soar. He knows he's safe, loved, and spoiled. We honestly can't imagine our family without him.

Korilei Rue
Korilei Rue is a 12-year-old Dachshund in Carson City, NV, who needs $1,245 for emergency surgery.
Carson City, NV
It was a life-or-death situation for Korilei Rue, also known as Rucy. She was acting a bit under the weather, and her human mom, Heather I., raced her to the animal hospital. "After some tests and X-rays, they rushed her for emergency surgery," Heather tells Waggle. "Rucy had pyometra (an infection), and her uterus ruptured. She also presented with pancreatitis and sepsis. Her odds of surviving were slim." But the veterinarians at the Pet Network Community Hospital helped Rucy fight for her life, and she pulled through! "These dedicated doctors went above and beyond, staying overnight, sleeping on a tiny futon to monitor her and manage her pain. They never gave up, and neither did Rucy," Heather says. Now Heather has to pay off the bill for all of Rucy's life-saving care. Heather adopted Rucy, and she's also her emotional support animal. Please help Rucy and Heather pay their tab for emergency care.

Korlei Rue
Korlei Rue is a 12-year-old Dachshund in Carson City, NV, who needs $1,000 for Pyometra, Pancreatitis, and Sepsis Treatment.
Carson City, NV
Korilei Rue, Rue for short, has been my baby since she was 4 months old. I was looking for something to help with my teenagers severe depression. Therapy suggested an emotional support animal. I came across Korlei Rue, she was in another but needed a home. We rescued her and brought her home to become a part of our family in 2010. Rue loves everyone, we have rescued two additional doxies adding to our family since Rue came to us. Her best friends, Jackson 11 years old and Charlie 8 years old. She is the most tolerant, sweetest, loving pup you'll ever meet. She likes to give kisses and demands to snuggle if you sit near. She loves food, all food, but her favorite is chicken. Rue first helped to bring my daughter back from the depths of severe depression. She gave her someone to be responsible for, to care for and Rue has loved her unconditionally ever since. Later, Rue became my strength as I battled addiction. Rue was my hope. She gave me all her love and trusted me. She loved me when I was unable to love myself. I celebrate 10 years in recovery 10/18 thanks to Rue. Rue is now 12 years old. I never had her spayed. As she got older I thought she didn't need to have a surgery due to her age. I had no idea what pyometra was or that it was often fatal in unaltered older pups. Rue became ill, I brought her to her vet, and she had to have emergency surgery. Her chances were not good as her uterus had ruptured. My husband and I are self employed small business owners of a lawn maintenance company. With the rapidly rising costs of supplies and fuel we have been struggling to keep the business going. In May I lost my full-time employment. Rue is our princess our baby.
