Well, it all happened a bit like magic is the best way I could begin to explain. I got a call for help to re home a very loved boy, who's 1st Mommy grew to see very quickly, that she was unable to give him the best life that he deserved.. between a medical condition, what she did for a living and faced with having to relocate. Not looking for a new pet, I gladly went over to see him, get to know his demeanor and take photos of him so that I would feel comfortable knowing that I was placing him in the right home. Without seemingly a say in the situation, my mind and my heart had decided that he belonged to me. Like he always had and were once seperated and together again. It took my concious self a moment to catch up to what was happening. Here I was going to try and help save this dog, who is much more that a dog.... and instead he was saving me. Saving me before I even knew I needed saving. I brought him home that night under a temperary agreement that I would see how he fit in my home and with my children. Once home, I knew instantly there was no turning back. He was meant for me as I was him. It was as if he traveled a thousand life times just to get here to me when I needed him most and at just the right time. My daughter, who at the time had become afraid to go to sleep alone and had not done so for the passed year, was followed to bed by him that first night, where he layed over top of her as she instantly fell asleep, as he watched the door. As if he just knew exactly what she needed and he came to give her just that. She never again had a problem falling asleep alone.. The next year proved to be the single handed hardest year of my life. It was like he was the missing piece to my puzzle that I didn't even know was missing. I don't know what I would have ever done without him through it all. There wasn't a moment or a place I went without him. Not even work. If he wasn't welcome, I wouldn't go. Shortly thereafter he met his Dad. Little did we know at the time, that he had never owned a dog in his adult life and internally was a bit put off by his breed. But Jaxx knew that there was something else that we didn't know and that he was here to help his new Dad too. I soon came to find out that his Dad suffered from PTSD. Jaxx knew when exactly to over love him, to lay quietly at his feet or lay over him as he slept. Words can't explain the difference in his Dads life he has made and makes every single day. He put his life on the line for myself and 2 children when out of the dark lunged 3 big dogs from next door when we were walking to the car. Before we even saw it coming he was fighting them all of for us. Then came his Nanny (My Mom)... Well she was a harder shell to crack. She tried for a year to not get close to him or trust him due to a childhood incident and because of his breed. But instead, she fell in love with him, as he did her and would change her mind and heart forever. That's what he does... he changes the hearts and minds of everyone he meets. He is more than a dog, he is our family. Our angel, in a million different ways. I know with every bit of my heart that he was sent here just for us. He is our world. Our baby. He has helped us all so much and now he needs our help in return. He needs our help and yours... If you could find it in your heart to do just that... You will have changed the lives of an entire family.
