Spike
Spike is a 10-year-old Doberman Pinscher in San Diego, CA, who needs $900 for Mass Removal Surgery + Dental Cleaning.
San Diego, CA
We rescued him at (supposedly) 5 years old, from a previous owner (a relative’s coworker) who felt she could no longer give him the attention/care he needed. Spike LOVES people & being glued to our sides. He’s a literal ‘velcro dog.’ He loves to sleep right against my side + loves soft couches/beds. He’s a clingy dog! Spike’s a Doberman Pinscher & what looks like a scary guard-dog breed, but to the contrary he’ll wiggle up to ANY stranger asking for pets! So not a functional guard dog haha. My dog just developed a mass/bump on his right cheek that the vet said he recommends we get removed sooner than later during the next time Spike’s put under anesthesia for an annual dental cleaning. While the vet examined his new cheek mass, he also examined his mouth & diagnosed Spike with periodontal gum disease. Help Spike live out his remaining years in health! I’m a recent college grad whose dog is my best friend & mental health saviour!! He’s helped me smile through so many challenges + depressing moments. I can’t imagine life without his happy, healthy, excited disposition.

Penny
Penny is a 8-year-old Chihuahua Basenji mix in San Diego, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.
San Diego, CA
It all started when Penny ran over to pick up her favorite toy. She stopped, cried, and her human family panicked. "She was no longer able to use her back right leg," Christina D., one of Penny's family members, tells Waggle. It turned out poor Penny tore her ACL ligament in her knee. The expensive surgery needed to fix it is something Christina and her family can't afford. Their expenses are higher than their income, and their rent just went up. They spent more than $1300 on Penny's diagnostic tests, and the operation is another $4500. It's a heartbreaking situation. "When my family adopted Penny from the shelter, I thought it was a sign for us to take her home -- her kennel card said her name was Penny -- the same name of the black Lab we had we I was a kid," Christina says. "We now cannot imagine our lives without her. She's loving, protective, and feisty." Please help Penny get back on her feet again!
