Kumo

Kumo is a 1 year old Chow Chow in Sutton, MA, who needs $2,993 for TPLO Surgery.

Sutton, MA

I was blessed with Kumo in May of 2025. He joins Luna, my 3 1/2 year old Chow Chow. The 2 became fast friends, Luna, like a mother to Kumo & Kumo, a shadow to Luna. Kumo LOVES water of all kinds: sprinklers, garden hoses, & swimming in lakes (not a typical chow in this regard)! A perfect day for Kumo and Luna includes hiking, swimming, and laying in the shade on the porch! After a walk, Kumo & Luna went sprinting around the back of the house only seconds later to return with Kumo limping (holding his back left leg completely off the ground). After rest and leash walking for a few weeks, with no improvement (non-weight bearing), I learned that Kumo needs cruciate ligament TPLO surgery in order to have use of this leg and to avoid the pain he continues to be in. Kumo loves children of all ages! He gets quite vocal with his "grumbles" when he's excited & wants to play. He is very smart and well behaved and has great recall. He knows kisses & sit in Polish. He and Luna are joined at the hip and he is a total mama's boy. His injury not only breaks my heart as his "mom", but Luna shows concern as well, and isnt quite sure why he can't play like before. In the past few years I have experienced chronic health issues that have created an extreme financial burden. Unfortunately, I am still receiving treatment which makes it difficult to manage my own finances and also Kumo's surgery. It would mean so much to receive some help!

Ryder

Ryder is a 6 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Belchertown, MA, who needs $2,000 for Diagnosis and Treatment.

Belchertown, MA

Ryder came into my life from a pass around situation, by the time he was 6 months old he had been givin up multiples times. When I took him in he was skin and bones and would puke any time he ate from anxiety. Fast forward to before his sickness he’s my best friend as well as my 10 year old daughters Ryder was seen by a vet and given a strong anti biotic when he started weezing and had swollen lympnodes. He’s getting worse by the day and I plan to take him to a local vet mon am (tomorrow) hoping they can help save him. He won’t eat and is very wobbly on his feet. His eye have gotten red and he won’t sleep with me in bed anymore so I been camping on my couch to stay close to him This pup is special he was best friends with my bunny and cat my bunny has since passed but he’s a gentle giant. He’s loving and trust worthy and il do anything I can to save him This is a sudden major expense and with already going to the vet I’m already in the negative and desperately looking for ways to raise a few thousand to make sure he can be taken care of I know they will want x rays blood work and I’m assuming he’ll need to stay overnight

Tricky Woo

Tricky Woo is a 8 year old Chihuahua in Warren, MA, who needs $2,000 for Pre-op Tests, Tumor Removal, and Dental Surgery.

Warren, MA

Tricky Woo is my cherished 8-year-old Chihuahua and we live together with our cat, Bee. We began this journey together four years ago in December of 2020 at TJ O'Connor's animal shelter. I rescued her and she rescued me. She is fun-loving, cuddly, and sassy on her best days. I love her more than my own life. Tricky developed a tumor on her stomach that we hope and believe to be benign, but can't be sure. A biopsy and removal is vital. Because of Tricky's chronic heart condition she requires extra pre-op care in order to undergo this safely. Dental surgery is needed deeply at this time as well. Doing these together will minimize risk of having to put her under anesthesia twice. Tricky Woo is my best friend and my baby, adopted while I was going through health difficulties. My mental health left me often debilitated or hospitalized. Tricky, and her sister, Bee (my cat) stable. She is my most beloved and my anchor in this world. Sweet, and loyal. Her favorite things are playing with toys, burrowing under blankets, spatting with Bee, and being by my side! Because of years of struggles, and now a chronic condition, I am only able to work part-time. I do all I can, and saved all I could. These are very hard financial times. The thought of losing her is unfathomable, and I can't afford her care and surgery alone this time. Thank you.

wyatt

wyatt is a 10.5 year old Miniature Schnauzer in oxford, MA, who needs $2,000 for Cystotomy, Bladder Stones Removal.

oxford, MA

Wyatt came to us from the local town animal shelter. He was about 3 or 4 years old, he is now 10 or 11. I felt he had this name for too long to change his name, it was also befitting. I had one month from when I picked him up to when I had back surgery to get him to walk on a loose leash and it only took 1 week. He was too smart for his own good. Wyatt has a heart murmur grade 3 which needs an echo, 2 bladder stones and 1 in the urethra. We are looking to do a test, so we can do surgery, to remove all 3 stones any day or minute any stone can block the urethra and clog the bladder and potentially burst the bladder. once the 3 stones are removed he will be on a special diet that is appox.4.50 lb. PS this is more than i spend on my meat. Wyatt is an amazing pet who loves to work even after an ear infection that was treated and left him now about 80% deaf. We did teach signs to all is commands. I'm working on a few more now. He has cataracts and is approx. 25% blind now. But make no bones about it his nose works and he can find his treats just fine. He love to go for a ride in the car, walk in the park, run at the farm in the field My other half and I have extensive medical issues. Over the past year she totaled 2 cars and was in a nursing home for 3 months. It has left us very short on funds to keep the house running. It would be different if this was a non curable problem.

Maze

Maze is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Fitchburg, MA, who needs $2,000 for Leg Amputation.

Fitchburg, MA

A couple of years ago we had lost our boy, Max. We had decided that it was time to open our hearts and home to a new dog. Maze was being rehomed and we fell in love with her. Maze loves people and our cats. She doesn't really like our other pit bull, Beanie, but she does like smaller dogs. Maze loves to people watch. She loves to play with a Frisbee and hiding her balls in the yard. Maze has bone cancer in her back right leg. Thankfully it has not spread. Her leg pains her, and is very swollen. The vet said that for Maze to have a good life, the best thing is to remove the leg. Maze has been seeing the vets at Second Chance Community Veterinary Hospital. Maze loves to get kisses and to give hugs. She will climb into your lap just to get kisses. She loves to be around her family but usually wants to play by herself. Maze is usually up for anything. She will sit and watch TV with us or go for a hike, or play in the sprinkler. She loves to play in the snow with us. Having Maze healthy and not in pain would be so great. She is missing out on fun stuff because she hurts and can't use that leg. The little money that we had saved is gone to her medical bills. Due to vet appointments work hours have been lost.

Oreo

Oreo is a 2 year old Mix-Breed in Adams, MA, who needs $1,900 for Back Right Leg Amputation.

Adams, MA

Oreo came to us as a kitten from my grandma who is too old to take care of such a playful kitten. He became my son’s emotional support cat. We have two other cats as well. I am a single mom with 3 kids living on low income as a one on one in the school system. Oreo is a huge part of our hearts in our home. Wednesday night two of the cats were playing and knocked over the box fan which must have fallen on Oreo. We took him to a vet er about an hour away where they did X-rays that showed he has a displaced fracture of the tibia and fibula with a bone fragment. They said it’s so severe they recommend amputation. He is at the veterinarian emergency and specialty hospital in south Deerfield ma. I can’t explain how special he is in only 400 characters. But a crazy thing about him is that he pees in the toilet without every be trained. When ever one of us is sad he will curl up with us. He sleeps with me or my 12 yr old. He is my 12yr olds emotional support animal since he was diagnosed with ptsd and depression after being abused by his dad for years. We got Oreo a year dad left. I am a single mom of my 3 kids and barely ever see help from their dad. I work full time in the school system as a one on one but I barely make enough to live on. I barely make 19000 a year

Dobby

Dobby is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in Belchertown, MA, who needs $2,000 for Heartworm Treatments and TPLO Orthopedic Surgery.

Belchertown, MA

My youngest son Connor asked for an emotional support animal when he was 14 years old and in quarantine during the pandemic in 2020. We searched for the right animal that would be compatible with our current dog Yoyo, a 26-pound mixed breed bundle of joy and then found Dobby also at Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield MA, where we found Yoyo.He quickly became a new part of the family. At their annual checkup we discovered that Dobby has a heartworm infection. This was a shock but he is undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. This in itself was bad news, but would not have been too much to deal with in isolation. However, less than a month later Dobby’s sibling dog Yoyo blew out her ACL while they were playing and now needs emergency orthopedic surgery! Dobby and Yoyo are inseparable and they are the glue that holds this family together! However, we are experiencing a “double whammy” with both dogs being hit with unexpected illness and injury concurrently. Despite their situation, the dogs are still spry, energetic and full of personality! They make our family complete and we are committed to their recovery as much as they are devoted to us all! In addition to both dogs getting sick at the same time, our family is in a state of transition. I am a recently divorced mother of 3 young adults and we also have college expenses to come up with on top of these unexpected emergencies. This has put a real strain on finances!

Yoyo

Yoyo is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Belchertown, MA, who needs $2,000 for TPLO Repair Orthopedic Surgery.

Belchertown, MA

We adopted Yoyo from Second Chance Animal Shelter in East Brookfield MA in 2017 when my oldest son Jake was 16. He wanted another dog after we lost Trixie, our original family pet who was with us for over 13 years. We searched for the right dog for many weeks and when we met Yoyo it was love at first sight! We thought the name suited her well and we kept it! She is so lovable and a bundle of joy! Yoyo tries to keep up with her brother Dobby who we adopted from the same place. He is half her age and twice her size! Somehow one day when they were outside playing Yoyo blew out her ACL and requires orthopedic surgery to repair the back left leg function. She is still happy and frisky but can’t use her rear leg and is due for surgery in 3 weeks at Second Chance Hospital in North Brookfield MA. Yoyo is the light of our lives and makes our home complete! I am a recently divorced mother of 3 teen and college aged boys. Yoyo and Dobby have been an unwavering source of joy and emotional support throughout a difficult 2 year separation and divorce that affected our whole family. Two of the boys are off to college and other family has moved out but Yoyo provides comfort and unconditional love. With my recent divorce and two boys in college this year (one just graduated) the timing of this unexpected expense is a strain on my family finances. The kids all have their own jobs and are getting student loans to help out with college but this unexpected emergency hurts
