My partner & I first met Loki in 2019 at the local Petco after losing one of our cats to lymphoma unexpectedly a few months prior. We fell in love with her right away - and the feeling was mutual! Her caregivers at the rescue said we were the first people she really warmed up to right away. We were so happy to bring her home and into our family. Loki is a sweet, sassy, adventurous indoor-only cat who loves to be spoiled. When she isn't busy watching the world from her windowsill she is a devoted emotional support cat. She watches over my partner, who suffers from a debilitating neurological condition, and crawls under the blankets with me when I'm having nightmares from PTSD. She has recently developed a close bond with our year old dog. She watches us from the window when we go outside with her dog brother. She has always chosen the most awkward places to sleep despite having comfy beds. This includes egg cartons & long boxes half her size in length and width! She also has a penchant for attempting to jump onto curtain rods or tops of cabinets no matter how high off the ground! She is always making us laugh and smile. Loki fell ill very suddenly on 1/10/23. After a few days of trial, error, and testing, she tested positive for pancreatitis. Her white blood cell count is also elevated, and there are additional concerns over her x-rays. Her vet is hoping to schedule an ultrasound with fine needle aspiration to further investigate "strong suspicion of free thoracic fluid" and possible abdominal fluid. My partner & I were both denied care credit and scratch pay, exhausted our savings after various financial setbacks, and are now having to choose between paying rent and acquiring urgent care for Loki. She is a crucial part of our family & deserves her best chance.
