Raymond was given to me many years ago as a guardian for my horses and birds. What started as a needed herd protector quickly became a part of my family. Raymond has held a special place at my farm as the welcoming committee for new people and animals, welcoming, escorting, and making comfortable everyone he meets. He even attended girl scout camp for a summer as a riding companion for the girls. Raymond is 34 years old and has a tendency to get summer itches in his left eye normally treated with one week of terramycin ointment. This year his itch became a severe ulcer and now will have to have his eye removed or have a catheter placed with medications administered every 2 hours. The caviat is this is his good eye. He is blind from an old dog injury in his right eye before coming to me. Raymond lives with my younger horse Ransom and the two of them play together every day. Sometimes its tag, sometimes its kicking a ball around together. Raymond loves to talk to us and tell us about his day. He loves to be brushed and loved on and even likes to be ridden. He enjoys being around children and other babies. Even the goslings have taken a liking to Raymond. I recently sold my house and gave the sale money to my parents to help them with their debts as they are older, but they have taken all of the funds and splurged on a porsche and will not assist me or return any of the funds. This treatment expensive and unexpected.
