Khaos
Khaos is a 7 year old German Shepherd Dog in carpentersville, IL, who needs $15,000 for Cancer Radiation Treatment.
carpentersville, IL
When my kids moved on with their lives and I was living alone, I thought it would be a great time to get 2 German shepherds. I searched around and found a lady that had a litter of pups that she was going to euthanize them if no one wanted them. So, I grabbed two of them, a brother and I named them Khaos and Karma. They have been by my side for now almost 7 years now and hopefully more One day I noticed Khaos acting a bit weird and by having accidents in the house. He never did that. I took him to the vet thinking he had a UTI or a bladder stone(s). The emergency vet came back with grim news. Khaos had Bladder Cancer or TCC. A tumor sitting at the base of his bladder that was restricting his urine flow, eventually stopping it completely = death. Petcure oncology vets diagnose it Khaos is vibrant, happy go lucky dog who just wants anyone, and i mean anyone to throw his ball. He never has a ball too far away and is always ready to play. He will actually put the ball between his paws and give a nudge with his nose so it rolls towards you. He is very rambunctious yet loving and his name fits him so well. Not to mention he is a beautiful shepherd with an almost dark face.. I'm a divorced dad who raised both my kids alone who are now on their own. They have moved on and have families of their own. Now my two shepherds are my family, and I have spent over 10k on other surgeries that they needed from accidents. So, this is a new emergency

Peaches
Peaches is a 10 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Ingleside, IL, who needs $15,000 for CT Scan, Possibly Lobectomy or Oncology.
Ingleside, IL
I adopted my sweet Peachy girl in 2016 as a 7 month old pup. Now, almost 10 years later she is my entire world. She has been in great shape for her age. Playing, going on walks, being the happiest girl. She is loved by so many and lights up the world of those that know her. Her family is desperate to keep her around for as long as possible while maintaining a good quality of life. Last night, Peaches was taken into the emergency vet after showing signs of a distended abdomen and lethargy. While there, x-rays and ultrasounds concluded a large mass on her liver, and tons of fluid in her chest and abdominal cavity. She was transported and admitted to Thrive hospital in Hoffman Estates for further testing. Peaches is the center of the universe to those that cherish her. Ridiculously sweet, loving everyone she meets and getting attention. She is a playful girl and we have so much fun together. We go on long walks, she loves to snuggle and be the little spoon, she’s obsessed with warm weather and sun bathing. She is my very best friend. With being admitted to the hospital, she will be getting a CT scan for more information on the tumor on her liver. If it is a singular mass, surgery is an option. Cost estimates are ranging between $15-$18k if surgery is doable. If not, oncology will be the next step.

Benji
Benji is a 12 Year Old Mix-Breed in Elgin, IL, Who Needs $1,500 for Echocardiography.
Elgin, IL
We got Benji from a friend when he was 10 months old, back in 2014. He just turned 12 on Dec 9th! He was the first dog my sister and I ever had. He as always lived with either of us sisters, and he currently lives with me (Erika) by his own choice most likely due to him being the only dog here. Benji was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in August of this year. His primary vet is Dundee Animal Hospital of Elgin but has been seen at Thrive a couple of times since diagnosis for emergencies. Benji loves his human friends and family. He loves to get belly rubs, and especially his treats and will even do special tricks, such as saying please, speak, shake, dap, roll over, and play dead to earn them. He loves cuddling and spending time outside sniffing. He's super smart and understands a lot. Though he isn't a dog's dog, and tends to be reactive he still shows love. Though there are 2 of us caring for Benji we both have very limited funds especially after dealing with multiple pet emergencies (2 for his sister, and 2-3 for him) current funds and savings have been depleted. We are both struggling with income, and are both adult students.

Askem
Askem is a 5 Year Old Mix-Breed in Wonder Lake, IL, Who Needs $5,000 for MRI.
Wonder Lake, IL
Askem came into our lives at 4 weeks old almost 5 years ago. We picked him up from a lady in Indiana whose dog had a litter. We got both Askem and his brother Lee from the same litter. He is a German shepherd/husky mix. We currently live in a ranch style house with a big fenced in backyard. He lives with my husband and I, his brother Lee, 2 snakes, and 4 little human siblings under 6 years old. Askem started off having seizures in the summer of 2025. One day in December, I got up to let him outside and his could stand on his own. I took him to the emergency vet right away. He came back negative for any infections. Now they want to do an MRI to see if he has any tumors or a slipped disc. We have him on pain meds and antibiotics as of now. He is paralyzed in the back half of his body. Askem has a brother named Lee who came from the same litter. He also has 4 human siblings to play with. He loves to follow me (mom) around the house and cuddle. He loves to run around the yard with his brother Lee and the kids. This is an unexpected major expense for our family. We just want him healthy and happy again. He is only 5 years old and has more life to live! We need $4000 - $5,000 for an MRI. If it’s a slipped disc it would be another $15000 - $18000 for the surgery.

Gwula
Gwula is a 6 year old American Bulldog in rockford , IL, who needs $2,000 for IVDD.
rockford, IL
Just a few days ago, Gwula was his normal, happy self — walking, wagging his tail, and playing like always. Then, out of nowhere, he started dragging one of his back legs. Within a short time, both of his back legs stopped working completely. It happened so fast and without warning. We rushed to get him checked, made calls to every vet, rescue, and animal care organization we could find. The vets believe Gwula is suffering from a condition called IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) — a spinal issue that can cause sudden paralysis in dogs. When this happens, surgery is often needed as soon as possible to prevent permanent nerve damage and give the best chance of recovery. Every hour and day that passes can make it harder for him to walk again. Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists Gwula isn’t just a dog — he’s family. He’s the kind of dog who instantly wins everyone over with his big heart and gentle soul. He loves everyone he meets — people, kids, other dogs — it doesn’t matter. He’s always been full of love, joy, and loyalty. He’s truly the sweetest boy, the type of dog who just wants to be near you, offering comfort and affection to anyone who needs it. The financial pressure of this situation has been incredibly overwhelming, and it breaks my heart knowing that money is the only thing standing between him and the care he needs. I just want to give him the chance to live the full, happy life he deserves. 💔🐾

Alfie
Alfie is a 11 month old Mix-Breed in Schiller Park, IL, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Correction of a Portosystemic Shunt.
Schiller Park, IL
Alfie was gifted to us 9 months ago and has been pure joy since. He loves people, apples, and walking his brother to school. He looks like Alf from the movies, which inspired his name. He greets me with cuddles and face kisses every time I come home—he’s truly part of our family. Alfie was diagnosed with a portosystemic shunt. It came on suddenly—he lost weight, sight, appetite, and now hallucinates. He’s weak but fighting. Thrive in Hoffman Estates, IL is treating him. The vet said his case is one of the worst she’s seen. We’re heartbroken—we nearly had to say goodbye, but we won’t give up. Alfie is pure love. He’d greet us with excited jumps, roll over for cuddles, and lick our faces nonstop. He loves apples, walking his human brother to school, and meeting everyone. When healthy, he adored snow and chasing water from sprinklers. His joy was contagious—he’s not just our dog, he’s our heart in fluffy form. Alfie’s emergency came out of nowhere, and the cost of surgery is overwhelming for us. We’re on a fixed income and this sudden expense is more than we can manage alone. Having Alfie healthy again would mean everything—he’s family, and the house feels empty without his joyful

Russell
Russell is a 4 year old Poodle in Wheeling, IL, who needs $2,000 for Spinal Decompression Surgery and MRI for Intervertebral Disc Disease.
Wheeling, IL
Russell came into our lives as an emotional support dog for my daughter, and quickly became the heart of our home. He’s only 4, full of love, energy, and joy. Sadly, he now faces paralysis from IVDD. Surgery could help him walk again, but it’s beyond what we can afford. Please help us give Russell a second chance. Russell was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) at Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in Hoffman Estates. He suddenly lost the ability to walk and is in pain. Surgery is urgently needed to give him the chance to walk again. We are doing all we can to avoid euthanasia. Russell is more than a dog—he’s part of our family. He comforts my daughter during her hardest moments and brings joy to our kids with his playful, loving nature. He greets everyone with a wagging tail, loves cuddles, and makes our home feel whole. Life without him would be unthinkable. We’re already in deep debt. I was approved for CareCredit but only for $3,000—of which $2,500 is already gone on ER visits, X-rays, and meds. We have no one to borrow from and can’t go further into debt, but we desperately want to keep our baby alive and give him hope.

Tank
Tank is a 4 year old Great Dane in Huntley, , who needs $2,000 for MRI Brain and Anesthesia.
Huntley
Tank is the heart and soul of our household. We got him during Covid, as we wanted to get our other Great Dane, Storm, a buddy at the time. We have had him for over 4 years. He is a full breed fawn Great Dane who weights 183 pounds. During our darkest times, he is the light and motivates us to keep going. Our family typically refers to him as the angel sent from heaven from my brother who passed. Tank has epilepsy. He has lived with it for 2 years now. For those not aware of what epilepsy is, in other words he has seizure episodes. Recently, these episodes have progressively gotten worse, leading to him having to be hospitalized for observation. In order to truly know what is going on, Tank needs to receive an MRI of his brain to pinpoint the reason for these. Tank is our fighter. After recently losing his sister Storm just around 2 months ago, he has continued to comfort us. He loves to sunbathe. Any chance he gets, he will be outside, laying in the backyard soaking in the sun. On top of that he loves to give head snuggles and complete his nightly zoomies around the house with me right before bed. You can always count on him to smother you in kisses. We have suffered extreme medical bills over the past couple of years due to surgeries and vet bills. After recent scares, an MRI proves to be even more crucial to save his life. Tank is our pride and joy and nothing would make us happier to see him receive the care he needs.

Marcey
Marcey is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Rolling Meadows, IL, who needs $2,000 for Long-term Management of Diabetes.
Rolling Meadows, IL
Marcey is our first baby. My partner and I have had her almost her whole life, before she was even a year old. We chose her from her litter that was being kept in a box outside by the person who owned her mommy cat. It was a long drive home, and she was an extremely vocal kitten. I talked and sang to her all the way and, even now, she only calms down in car rides when we talk and sing with her. Marcey was diagnosed with feline diabetes this year. In July, she experienced her first diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), and we took her to Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists. Three ER visits later and several appointments with a specialist, Marcey has been diagnosed with diabetes, cushings, and pancreatitis. These conditions are very difficult to treat simultaneously. Marcey is our baby. I have never known a cat to love two people equally, and with so much sweetness and affection. She is always with us, and sleeps next to us every night. She has a big personality - she is sassy, a glutton, and way too smart for her own good. But she is also a fighter. Never once has she given up, and never once has she come home to us defeated. We will not give up on her. Like a lot of people, we were living mostly paycheck to paycheck with as much savings as we could manage. This situation has not only depleted our savings, but has left us in severe credit card dept, over 40k at this time, and unable to pay our bills on time, if at all.
