Duke was a rescue dog. He is a wonderful pet who had no training but saved my life a couple of times when I was sleeping and went into heart failure, he woke me up licking on me which he never does, also he can tell when I am going to have a seizure and will block me in the bed and chair so that I don't fall out. He is a guardian angel and not only a pet but family. Duke lives with me in my home, he is an indoor dog who sleeps with me and protects me. He is a gentle giant who is kind, caring, sharing, loving, and considerate. He is so well behaved, he is the best! Duke is with me wherever I go whether it's at home or away. Duke is very loving to all my family and friends. He lets me know when there is a stranger or a critter around my house though. Duke has a best friend beside me - a four-legged one name Rin with who he loves to play with and ride in the car. Duke hates the rain but loves the snow. He is so terrified of fireworks and thunder that he requires a lot of comforting and at times medication. Although he rarely barks his bark is so loud and deep that the first time he ever barked it scared me to death. LOL Duke has always been healthy until recently. He needs his spleen removed due to some progressive (possibly cancerous) lesions found and needs a biopsy done on his liver to find out if he is retaining copper or other minerals in his liver causing his liver enzymes to increase. Once his spleen is removed that threat will be gone. He may just be treated with medication for his liver if needed. It is very stressful and difficult for me and my health worrying about the cost of the surgery. I need to do everything I can to save his life, HE SAVED MINE! I have had so many sleepless nights, he means the world to me, I can't stand to see him sick and his life at stake.
