Puppy Dobby

Puppy Dobby is a five-week-old Labrador puppy in Lewisville, IN, who needs $2,000 for treatment of possible Distemper.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Puppy Dobby is sick, hospitalized, and needs your help! This sweet Labrador pup started to have neurological issues; he was having trouble walking and started shaking--- so did some of his littermates. Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption raced the puppies to VCA Northwood Animal Hospital in Indiana. Dobby and his sister Luna are the sickest. Their litter is named after characters from the Harry Potter book series. "He is a very special puppy," Katherine M., president of Lucky Lab Rescue, tells Waggle. "Dobby came to us from a Mississippi shelter with his mom and littermates. We were unsure of what was happening to him, and he had to be admitted to the hospital and quarantined." The puppies are being tested for Distemper. They are too young to be vaccinated against the virus and may have been exposed at the shelter. It breaks Katherine's heart because Dobby is so sweet. "He loves to be held and give puppy kisses," she says. Having an entire litter of sick puppies is draining the rescue's bank account. But Lucky Lab knew they had to fight for these pups and economic euthanasia was not an option. "His vet bills were extensive but necessary to save his life," Katherine says. "It was horrible seeing his lethargic body sick and unable to be a normal puppy." The rescue is hoping with the good care the puppies are getting, they'll be out of the hospital soon and, once they're healthy, adopted into loving homes. With your help, the nonprofit group hopes they will raise the money to pay for Dobby's care.

Puppy Luna

Puppy Luna is five-week-old Labrador puppy in Lewisville, IN, who needs $2,000 for blood transfusion and treatment of suspected Distemper.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Puppy Luna is fighting for her life! She is anemic, needs a blood transfusion, and has suspected Distemper. A horrible hand for such a young puppy to be dealt. Katherine M., the president of Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption, was crushed when she heard the news. "My heart sank," she tells Waggle. "We were told by the vet that she was most likely not going to make it. But her little face and eyes screamed that she was not ready to go, so we moved forward with her supportive and life-saving care." The rescue originally saved Luna, along with her mother and littermates, from a shelter in Mississippi. The puppies were too young to be vaccinated against Distemper and were likely exposed to the virus at the shelter. Luna's brothers and sisters are also ill, and some had to be hospitalized. The medical bill for all their care is a massive undertaking. "To have so many sick puppies is incredibly expensive, and it's hitting right at the time our rescue has a lot of medical dogs in need," Katherine says."Our donations are down, likely because of COVID and so many people being out of work." Lucky Lab doesn't turn down dogs that need veterinary care. But when it rains, it pours, and right now, it's pouring. The medical team at VCA Northwood Animal Hospital in Indiana has been pulling for the puppies and working hard to help. The good news is Luna is already starting to perk up. Katherine says the rescue has high hopes she's going to make it. "She is a survivor and a teacher, we can learn from, 'Don’t give up!'" Please donate to help save Luna!

Litter of Puppies

Litter of Puppies are Labrador puppies in Lewisville, IN, who needs $2,000 for Blood Transfusion and Critical Care.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Lucky Lab saved a mother dog and a litter of puppies. If our nonprofit rescue did not take them in they all could have been killed. We often never know the backstories of the dogs we save and in this case, we don't know how these puppies became so ill. We raced the entire litter to the veterinarian. All the puppies were admitted to the hospital, but two are in critical condition. Luna is the most ill she remains hospitalized and is getting a blood transfusion tomorrow. She is also anemic. Luna is fighting an uphill battle. We are so worried. Dobby is also very sick and is in isolation. They are such cute puppies. We can't thank people who support our rescue and its mission enough, please help us get through this crisis, and please say prayers these puppies pull through. They need all the help they can get. Our donations are down right now likely because of COVID and so many people being out of work. Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption takes in tough medical cases and doesn't turn down dogs that need veterinary care. But when it rains it pours and right now it's pouring. We are hoping with the proper care and treatment they will pull through and go onto loving homes. To have an entire litter of puppies hospitalized is incredibly expensive and it's hitting right at the time were our rescue has a lot of medical dogs in need. We are looking at a bill of more than $3000 for this litter of sick puppies. We are frantically trying to raise money as soon as possible.
