Mavis is my baby. A coworker asked me to take her for just a little, he was moving and couldn’t find her a home yet. I hesitantly agreed, somehow I knew the second I saw her, I was her forever home. Mavis has been re-homed at least three times in three years she’s been alive. When I first got her she was the size of a kitten. Malnourished and wide eyed, and her weight jumped when I took her in. Mavis has always had problems with her teeth. When I first got her she was on hard kibble, and I would wet her food to soften it. I took her to VCA Oak Hills in San Antonio for the first time about 6 months prior to now. They diagnosed her with stomatitis. A genetic disorder that causes irritation of the gums around the cat’s teeth, causing pain. They said she would eventually need teeth pulled. I got Mavis in a tough part of my life, I was going through a rough patch in college and a bumpy road with my roommate at the time. She is so sweet, loving like no other cat. All she wants is to lay on ur chest and cuddle with you. If she’s not there she is sitting by a window looking outside. She doesn’t like cat toys, besides lasers. But has a fascination with plastic bags, hair ties, and straws I am a struggling 19 year old college student working as a waitress and bartender to make ends meet. I hurt every day that Mavis is in pain. But I can barely afford college and bills, how can I afford her surgeries? She needs a feeding tube and a teeth extraction, help <3
