Mateo

Mateo is a 1 year old Great Pyrenees in Austin, TX, who needs $3,618 for Bone Surgery.

Austin, TX

I adopted my pet two years ago, and he is the only pet in the house; he has always been my companion. His name is Gabe—the name given to me where I adopted him—but I have always called him Mateo. He is a sweetheart who wouldn't hurt a soul; he just loves to play and run around. He brings peace to my home, and I love him with my life—he is like a son to me. I am seeking help for my pet, who is in an emergency situation; he has a broken leg and requires surgery. He is constantly crying out in pain, and I do not have the necessary funds to cover the costs. I took him to Veterinary Surgical Solutions, and they require a total of $3,618 to perform the surgery. I would be deeply grateful for any support you can provide. 🙏🏻 My pet is a sweetheart—the best thing that ever came into my life. We’ve shared so much together; he has always been there for me during my most vulnerable moments and brings out my happiest side. He is always polite and playful with other people. I feel so sad about what my baby is going through and helpless that I can't do much; I hope things get better. I am currently unemployed and have no emergency funds; I spent what little I had left on rent and utilities. On top of that, a few months ago my sister was in an accident, and I used my savings to help cover all her expenses—something I hadn't anticipated. Any support you co

Rosy is a 4 year old Poodle in Austin , TX, who needs $5,700 for Fracture Repair - Leg Plate.

Austin, TX

Rosy was just four months old when a relative who couldn’t care for her gave her to. She became my service dog, helping me by alerting me to sounds. She’s very playful and loves to be cuddled. On March 30th, Rosy and I were getting ready to go to a family gathering when a car ran over her two front legs and left the scene. I rush her to the Thrive pet emergency hospital in Austin Texas. The doctor said she had both front broken and needed surgery right away. I'm her favorite best friend, and we do everything together. She loves to ride and travel with me, and she's very protective of me. We also love going out for playtime. I'm single, hard of hearing, and receiving benefits. I live alone and only have just enough to cover my living expenses. I need help to pay for her medical bills.

I rescued Winny, 8 years ago from a neglectful neighbor. He lives with me and my 2 children in Austin. He is a sweet gentle boy to all humans big and small. His 2 cat brothers are in charge, so he lets them. Due to his beginnings, Winny can be fearful of new things but Ive worked with him tirelessly. He now loves "stuffies" and has 6 friends. He hears them outside and cries bc he cant play. Winston "Winny" has a full ACL tear and need TPLO surgery. My regular vet, Thrive Pet Healthcare referred him to Veterinary Surgical Solutions (Austin Tx) My kids adore him but he has a special relationship with my son. My son asked all of our extended family to forgo bday presents last month and requested help for Winny instead. He is my emotional support pet as much as I am his emotional support human. He's been with me thru the worst and its heart-breaking that I cant help him My mental health suffered greatly after my ex-husband stole all of my assets. I had to leave a high paying job. Been @ Target for 6yr now with SNAP/Section 8. Finally stable and beginning to look, and now Winny is hurt and I cant help him the way he deserves.

Coco kitty

Coco kitty is a 0 year old Persian in San Antonio , TX, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Removal of Tungiasis Infestation.

San Antonio, TX

We adopted Coco kitty in October of 2009. Coco has had a terrifying year. We had a really bad house fire due to faulty wiring and the smoke nearly killed her. We had to move our horses to a new stable where unbeknownst to me, they got Tungiasis. I caught it too, but I had no idea that I’d infected my coco kitty. Now Coco has an enormous wound that looks right out of the movie “Alien”. I have taken Coco to two different vets, but niether had ever even heard of Tungiasis before. So they had no idea how to proceed of what to do about the problem. To Coco is sweet and gentle. Shes not pushy or demanding. When I get into bed, she just quietly gets on the other pillow to sleep next to me. She loves catnip and she loves to nap on her cat tree. I was diagnosed with some degenerative auto immune diseases in 2013. But, I tried to deny that I was sick and continued to run myself into the ground. Then in the r ed nd of 2022 I had a stroke and it caused me to have severe double vision. So I couldn’t keep up with my job

I adopted MrGrey from a friend of mine. She was fostering him out of an abusive situation. He was infected very badly with worms and very malnutrition when I got him. I took a few weeks to get him to care, got all his shots and back to good health. It's been 8+ months now and we are very bonded. He had his ESA certificate letter from my Dr. as I am disabled. Working on his Service dog certificat MrGrey has a lux patella injury. Diagnosed by Austin Surgical Solutions and they will b doing the surgery there. He goes to Emancipet monthly. Routine heartworm meds, fleas meds and check up. He is microchiped and registered. All shots and vaccinations are current. Grey is my ESA/PSA dog. He calms me when my anxiety attacks occur. He also is my protection dog- as he will alert me to danger. My left side of body is highly compromised, so he keeps me safe. I'm disabled on live on my disability check. Not anything left after rent and phone bill. Then I only have 290$ in food stamps each month. Things are tight, but I make it work. MrGrey is family, he's basically like having a son. Peanut Butter

Peanut Butter is a 10 year old Mix-Breed in Austin, TX, who needs $2,000 for Repair of Metatarsal Breaks and Tears, Soft Tissue.

Austin, TX

I love my mama and help her with debilitating chronic illnesses. I get her to take naps and let her cuddle and pet me when pain or loud things make her hurt, or when her heart, joint dislocations, or blood pressure make her smell sick. My mama keeps me on my toes. I don't know what she would do if I couldn't get around well or run zoomies to make her laugh. Have you ever hurt yourself in a spectacularly dumb fashion and then hid it from people? That's what I did. Then I let mama find me cuz it hurt so bad I threw up. I saw my x-rays from Urgent Vet Belterra and I was like woah- that's not how any of that works. My right front paw has multiple broken bones + dislocations. The doc says I need surgery or I'll always be in pain. I'm so scared. I like the rocks mama collects. I can keep my favorites. We watch soccer and I tell the coach who should pass, get open, or get the meow up. I open mama's doors and speak hooman, too. Just watch my video, you'll see. I also love my Lyrah cuz she scratches my butt real hard. I even tolerate big mean daddy man, and lick his toes when he asks me to. He's a weirdo but I'm a very good boy. My family loves me! But they can't afford expensive surgeries. Only big mean daddy man works right now so times are tough. My mamas spend a lot on prescriptions, insurance, and the ICU. They found $1300 to get me help already and are so worried that they can't fix my paw.

Tinsley LimpyLoveBug

Tinsley LimpyLoveBug is a 7-year-old Papillion Mix in Pflugerville, TX, who needs $1,503 for Repair Medial Patella Luxation.

Pflugerville, TX

We inherited Tinsley in Aug 2021 after her owner Samantha Hein died with complications of lung Cystic Fibrosis. Samantha was my Mentor/Sponsor helping to emotionally support us as we create a new life free from addiction. I'm 6.5 yrs sober. Sam & daughter Rhi drove 8+ hours to adopt a couple years prior. Rhi loves and visits her dog and feels like family now. Tinsley & Sam bonded us ♥.. ♥ Tinsley is a people person and digs affirmation ♥ baby talk. Tins loves taking turns sleeping w each of us, so we are in our feels, adjusting to her sleeping in the crate. Recovery in the crate 24 hrs for about 6 weeks, will be so hard emotionally. I can see us sitting with her crate often. Favorites: Chasing wild bunnies that insist on sharing the back yard. 2nd Fav: Boss me around with telepathy. She discovered I am rather entertained by her talking, demanding dancing, pulling my skirt or kitchen towel during meal time. Treats= are for burrowing everywhere....in couches, blankets, anything. Don't give her stinky things. It is so weird 6 months ago nothing seemed wrong. Oct. '23, Tinsley began limping then slowly turning into hind leg lameness. It seemed to be 1 leg, since Tinsley holds right leg up after laying down, like it is stuck with stiff ligaments. Surgeons at Veterinary Surgical Solutions broke my heart with the awareness that pain and stiffness is in both of her slipping kneecaps. 2 surgeries should correct the malfunctioning knees & remove pain. I'm a Mom fully supporting self & 2 kids in a leased home. I cannot afford to support a dog w medical problems, so my heart hurts, as I question if we are the responsible home for her. Surgery should correct her knees function, allowing her play, jump, and run again.

Toby

Puppy Toby is an 8-month-old yellow Labrador pup in Austin, TX who needs $2,000 for hip surgery.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption heard about a puppy that couldn't walk in a Texas animal shelter and was at risk of being euthanized. We could not let that happen! We didn't have a foster home for Toby but knew we had to save him, so we had a volunteer pick him up and get him to an animal hospital. X-rays showed he had a broken pelvis and one of his hips was a mess. We've had two specialists review Toby's case. Both say he needs hip surgery to remove the bone fragments from his hip joint. The surgery is called and FHO. We had a rough year with many medical dogs in need and donations are low right now. Probably due to the economy and inflation. We are struggling right now and need to raise the money first for Toby to have his surgery. Lucky Lab is a nonprofit rescue, and no one in the organization is paid, we're all volunteers. We put our hearts and souls into rescuing these dogs and want Toby to have the best new year ahead.

Bentley is a 11-year-old Labrador (and Muppet) in Lewisville, IN, who needs $2,000 for TPLO Ligament Repair Surgery.

Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption

Poor Bentley! Lucky Lab saved him from a shelter after he ended up there, and his owners apparently told the shelter after having him for 10 years, they no longer wanted him. He was a poor, discarded, limping senior dog covered in bumps and lumps thrown out during his golden years. His story broke our hearts. When we saw pictures of his sweet face, we could not resist helping him. Though we are predominately a Lab rescue we figured there must be some Lab in there somewhere. Lab and Muppet is what we decided! We made him an official Lucky Lab. An incredible foster offered to take him in, and then we discovered Bentley was limping. We brought him to the veterinarian, who discovered he had a torn ACL, and surgery was the only option for repairing it. Knowing Bentley's age, we wanted to make sure he was up for the surgery. We had every single one of his lumps and bumps aspirated and luckily they all came back benign. We treated him for a skin infection and had his bloodwork done several times and his veterinarian and surgeon said Bentley was up for the surgery and a good candidate! Now Lucky Lab is raising the money for Bentley's surgery so he no longer has to limp along while he walks in pain. Just knowing his story and seeing him limp makes us wonder how long he was suffering and no one helped him! Please help us help Bentley.

Austin, TX

Max is a 14 year old beagle who loves walks and hanging out with his family. He loves to sit on his humans laps and spend time with them everyday. He lives in a house with a backyard to sniff in and let’s us know if he sees any threats such as lizards and squirrels. He has lived with our family (Debbie, Steve, and Ashley) since we adopted him as a puppy in 2009. He loves to go on walks and meet new people. In our family he is always with us and tend o follow us around the house. At night he loves quilts time and tends to sit in our laps as we watch movies or chat. He is always excited when one of us arrives home and loves to make us feel welcomed. He always has a wagging tail. After we give Max his occasional baths, he’ll get out of the tub and allow us to dry him off with towels. As soon as we are done he runs all around the house like a race horse. He rubs his whole body on whatever he can find. Then does laps around the kitchen and shakes water off if himself and getting us wet. Then he will try to go outside and rub dirt on himself. Max has had a large lump on the side of his body for the past few years. When we first checked out the lump the vet said that it was a cyst and that it wasn’t anything threatening. However it has grown overtime becoming larger and larger and just in the past few days fluid has started coming out of it. The vet has given him medicine temporarily however the mess will need to be removed very soon. The cost of living has increased. We are having to pay more on our house than ever before. The cost for the surgery is $2000 and we are struggling to come up with the funds to pay for all of it.

Milo is a 6-year-old Australian Shepherd Dog in Round Rock, TX, who needs $1,500 for TPLO.

Round Rock, TX

Milo and I came together in 2016, when I was just 19 years old. I always grew up with dogs, and knew that as soon as I could, I needed a pup. He was given to me by a family friend, whose' Aussies were having a surprise litter! He was just 3 months old when I adopted him, and he's been my best friend ever since. His favorite thing in the world is playing catch with a squeaky ball at the park! Milo made me raise my bed, because that's his favorite place to sleep (when he doesn't have me picking him up onto my bed!) Even at 6 years old, he has the energy of a puppy! He loves walks around our complex, where he can say hi and get head scratchies from all the neighbors walking by. When he's tired from walks, he leads me back upstairs to snag his most savored treat- chicken jerky! Milo's best friend is one of my old neighbors- he LOVES when she visits. But truly, he just loves all people. If you are walking past him, he will always stop to say hello:) He loves water, but only if he can stand in it. And when the 2020 freeze hit Austin, he fell in love with the snow! It was everything he likes- wet, cold, tasty, and he can stand in it! In July, Milo had TPLO surgery on his right hind leg at Veterinary Surgical Solutions, with Dr. Lewis. I was made aware that there would be a 50% chance his left leg would suffer the same fate, and sure enough, in December, I had to take him back for a limp in his left hind leg. It was confirmed then, that his left LCL was tearing, and he needs another TPLO surgery. After a crushing break up in September, I am now faced with these medical bills alone. I am crushed every day that I have to see my baby limping, knowing that he's in pain. I would do anything to be able to take him to the park and play with his favorite ball again.

I adapted Lola 14 years ago from an adaption event at Petsco. She’s been living with me since she was a puppy. I also have 2 cats Panji and Luna, aged 17 and 6. I also rescued a kitten from the street, she was tiny 2 months screaming in the bushes. I rescued Frida one year ago and she living with us now. Lola is a lovely dog. She likes to play with the cats and she likes to discipline them also when they get naughty. I take her for a long walk in the evenings. She’s most of the time quiet. She loves pepperoni treats and can’t wait to have them when I tease her. Her attitude changed since her infection, she’s more quiet and taking a side as she’s not feeling well. She can’t sleep well from pain. We are not doing well financially. We paid all what we could for her treatment and now we can’t afford to pay anything more. I lost my job a while ago and still looking for another job. The surgery cost is very high. Lola has been suffering from a recurring ear infection. We've been taking her to vets but the infection keeps coming back. She needs a surgery to have her ear canal removed. She’s been suffering for almost a year now, her condition is really bad, she would scream of pain and irritation. We took her to Veterinary Surgical Solutions and the surgery cost is about $2226 for one ear. Lola is so friendly with people and dogs. She would run to make friends with all the people while I’m walking her. She would drag me just to go say hello to anyone passing by. She loves to play with our 3 cats. She’s not so social with other dogs but she’s always curious. She loves snow and scarred of thunder. She jumps to cuddle when there’s thunder and keeps shaking.

Ivan

Ivan is a 2-year-old Chihuahua Mix in Austin, TX, who needs $1,400 for Lateral suture + MPL.

Austin, TX

Ivan was rescued from a family of hoarders with a large number of other dogs, all of whom were abused. He weighed under 8 lbs, had heart worms and hookworms and very little hair. We found out very early on that he also had a bone growth abnormality. Although we know he is around two years old and has adult teeth, his X-rays show the bones of a puppy that have not fused together. Ivan is a joy to have in our home. He has bonded with me and follows me wherever I go. He plays fetch with the kids in the backyard and falls asleep on the couch between my husband and me on family movie nights. He is also a great at cuddling. He loves to sit next to me or at my feet while I work on the computer, nap with sick kids and tunnel under blankets. COVID has been hard on us. I had to take time off over the summer due to stress and no childcare -- which meant no money coming in from my freelance writing work. We have used up our savings and can't afford this surgery. Ivan likely inherited luxating patellas from the Chihuahua side of his lineage. He has now had two surgeries. He was about 3 weeks from being done with crate rest after the first surgery when I let my youngest son take him out back for a potty break. Unfortunately, they always play rough and Ivan ended up running and hurting his other leg. Both times his knee needed stabilizing and had ACL tears. He is smart, loyal and protective. He barks and charges the door whenever the doorbell rings, even when he was only walking on three legs. He loves to carry soccer balls in his mouth that are bigger than he is and play tug-of-war. Before his knee injuries, he even loved to go jogging. His favorite place to sleep (because he's not allowed in our bed) is under the bed right under me.

Austin, TX

Ivan is a Xoloitzquintli-Chihuahua mix who was rescued from an abusive family of hoarders along with other dogs. The rescue agency shared with us that the dogs taken had been hit on the head with a stick as a form of discipline. Now, Ivan lives with a loving family of five: me, my husband and our three children -- 16, 11 and 7. Ivan loves cuddling on the couch, playing fetch and going for walks. He follows me everywhere I go and curls up at my feet if I'm working at my computer or eating dinner. I take him for walks in our neighborhood every day. The kids like to see him run circles in the backyard. He's so fast he looks like a mini greyhound at a track. I had to take a leave from my job because of the lack of childcare due to COVID and other pressing family issues. We simply cannot afford this surgery. We don't have the money. Due to the malnutrition, Ivan has the skeleton of a puppy. His bones never fused properly. Since we got him in March, he has injured each knee just doing normal things: jumping off a porch and jumping off a couch. Dr. Rob Calabrese at Firehouse Animal Care Center has diagnosed his right knee with a torn miniscus, a partially torn ACL and a grade 3 luxating patella that needs repair. Ivan is a real cutie. He likes to burrow under blankets and sleep at your feet. He peeks out every now and then, melting our hearts. He is always happy to see us, tail wagging. He is also very smart and learns quickly. He is super curious. Taking him for a walk is always an adventure. He doesn't fight a bath or nail-trimming. He cuddles just like a tired toddler!
