Myrtle Provac

Myrtle Provac is a 9-year-old Jack Russel terrier in Providence, RI, who needs $500 for Dental .

Warwick, RI • Rhode Home Rescue

Myrtle is a special rescue senior that was pulled from local animal control. She is currently living in a foster home with RHR as a "sanctuary dog" through the rescue. Being a senior, she has had a variety of vetting needs such as dental work, cataract care as well as ongoing incontinence issues. Myrtle is as quiet as a mouse but so loving and really appreciates having a safe space to call her own in her "golden years". She is patient with the foster puppies and loves lounging with the other elderly dogs in the home. She often gets very excited for food and gets a cute little pep in her step when the food bowl comes out! Rhode Home Rescue is a 501(c)3 all volunteer and foster based rescue that works to save local dogs from neglect, abuse or abandonment here in RI and in partnering States/Rescues. Many of the dogs in our care are medically needy and donations are what keeps us afloat. Myrtle desperately needs dental work. She has had a substantial issue with rotten teeth that have caused abscesses in the past and make it difficult for her to chew. This dental work would be completed by Warwick Animal Hospital in Warwick, RI. This would clear up the issues she's been having for good and help her live a happy and healthy life. Myrtle was cast aside like so many other senior dogs. She quickly became lost in a sea of applications for other younger dogs in the rescue. It has been months, and still no adopter is able to make the commitment for this senior gal. Her current foster mom loves her little quirks and she still manages to wag that little nub tail in delight whenever her foster momma comes home from a long day.

Matilda Provac

Matilda Provac is an eight-year-old Papillon mix in Providence, RI, who needs $2,000 for critical surgery.

Warwick, RI • Rhode Home Rescue

When you look at her adorable face and the spark in her eyes, it is hard to believe sweet Matilda ended up in an animal shelter facing death. Rhode Home Rescue tells Waggle she has a substantial mammary gland tumor and the shelter was not going to pay for her surgery; Matilda was facing economic euthanasia. Waggle estimates more than a half-million pets are put down each year because their owners or animal shelters can't afford their care. But luckily for Matilda, Rhode Home Rescue scooped her right up and saved her. She is now in a fantastic foster home, but her tumor is causing her a lot of pain and discomfort, female dogs who were never spayed are more likely to develop these kinds of tumors. The rescue wants to get her the surgery she needs to remove the mass and get her fixed. Once she's healed up, she will be ready for adoption! "Matilda is the sweetest little girl. She loves her foster mom and is so grateful to be in a foster home. She loves snoozing in her cozy dog bed and being toted around on walks with her foster mom. She does great with other dogs and is very friendly and playful with everyone she meets," the rescue says. Rhode Home Rescue is a non-profit organization that saves dogs suffering from neglect, abuse, medical and behavioral issues. They rely on donations to provide care to these animals. "Matilda is special because even though her humans let her down, she does not hold that against anyone. She still loves everything life has to offer and doesn't know that she faced euthanasia at one point due to lack of funds," the rescue adds. "We want to make sure she will be able to live the rest of her life as carefree and happy as can be!"

Sugar

Sugar is a 13-year-old Shih-Tzu in New Bedford, Massachusetts who needs $200 for a cytopoint shot to control constant itching.

United States, MA

I fostered Sugar 4 years ago and could not let her go. She is so sweet, laid back and likes walks in slow motion ( and I mean slow..lol). Sugar has a lot of issues that has been to the vets almost every month. She has itching so bad has to have shots every month which costs 60.00 a shot. She also needs eye drops for dry eye that cost 83.00 a bottle might last 1 1/2 months. Also special shampoo to wash her. She also has real bad anxiety which means I can't leave her alone or she barks constantly, but would like to discuss this with vet. About a month ago she had ear infection, and an anus infection and had to have her treated which cost 250 for everything. I just need help for a month for 200 till I start my part time job. Had to miss her shot this month for itching not enough money and running out of eye drops.
