Crumpet
Crumpet is a 1.5-year-old British Shorthair Cat in Arden, NC, who needs $2,000 for FHO Surgery (Femoral Head Ostectomy).
Arden, NC
I adopted Crumpet from a household that was unable to properly care for a kitten. He joined me, my husband, and 5 cat siblings who were all rescued due to various medical or behavioral issues. Crumpet is incredibly well-loved by my husband and me, but he is definitely a daddy's boy. They are truly inseparable! He loves to play and is also the snuggliest cat in the house. He is lovingly referred to as "The Baby”. Crumpet was unexpectedly attacked by one of his cat siblings, resulting in a fracture at the head of the femur, where it attaches to the hip. In order to be pain-free and regain use of that leg, he needs FHO surgery (femoral head ostectomy). The surgery is scheduled for Feb 27 at Western Carolina Veterinary Surgery in Arden, NC. The estimate for surgery and post-op care is about $3400. To make things even worse, Crumpet has been hospitalized at SAVES since Feb 23. He was treated for obstipation, which is constipation so severe that the stool can’t be passed, even with enemas. He has a lifelong history of this despite all efforts to prevent this from happening. It was important that this painful condition be resolved prior to his surgery. We still owe about $1100 for his care. I unexpectedly lost my job in January & am struggling financially. We are empty nesters, and our cat family are like our children. There's nothing more important to us than getting our baby Crumpet healthy and back home. We are beyond grateful for any support. Thank you.

Chief
Chief is a 2-year-old Mixed Breed Dog in McDowell , NC, who needs $2,000 for Femoral Head and Neck Excision.
McDowell, NC
Chief showed up as a stray to our home. We put up fliers, facebook posts etc to find his owner. We fed him and cared for him for a week. We came home from church to find he had been hit by a car. We took him to a vet in Forest City, NC. He was not chipped. We named him at the vet. We had the vet put hip back in place, rabies shot, heart worm, flea, tick meds, etc. after 3 weeks hip would not stay Chief lives inside since his hip is not in place. He is the only baby in our family. He loves being with his humans. sleeps on his bed at the foot of our bed at night. He loves being outside. He loves having toys. He is friendly and loving and very vocal when you meet him. He misses being able to play outside in the water but we are afraid with his hurt hip that he will hurt it more. When chief first came to our home he was thin so we fed him. When we put the food in the bowl he looked at it, then looked at us, we told him to go ahead and eat and finally he started to eat. He would eat a couple bites, then he would wine and lick our hands as to say thank you for the food. He loves people. Chief was hit by a car and has a hip that won’t stay in place per the first vet we visited. Records sent to a specialist at a surgical clinic for estimate which is 3500.00. We have paid 800.00 already for his care to date, to try to keep hip in place but was unsuccessful. 4 Weeks now. We have taken Chief into our home as a stray and feel the need to help him to get the medical care he needs, we have paid 900.00 to date and planning on. 200.00 more to neuter him. This is an unexpected exp that we don’t have the money to have his hip fixed.

Kyah
Kyah is a 11-year-old Russian Blue Cat in East Flat Rock, NC, who needs $2,000 for Cranial Cruciate Ligament Repair.
East Flat Rock, NC
Kyah became my first child in 2011. She has since been my emotional support animal. She has been there with me through so much. She is strictly indoors with a 5 yr old dog brother and a 4 yr old human brother. She has been a very healthy cat. No medical problems. No expenses except yearly check ups and vaccines. Kyah is a little princess. She loves to cuddle under the blankets. She also loves to shut off alarm clocks. I don't know how she does it but she will sit at my phone and can swipe the alarm clock off sneaky little girl. She is the first one to greet someone when they come over and she loves to sit and ride around on my shoulders. She is the best cat anyone could ever ask for. She does pressure therapy for anxiety reduction and considered a medical necessity. She has been a registered service animal since she was two. She just knows how to make everyone feel loved and special. You cannot meet her without falling inlove. I honestly don't think she even knows she's a cat... Kyah needs emergency cranial cruciate ligament repair on her right knee/leg. She has been referred to an ortho surgeon. Her appt is Fri mat 26th at 1145 for the surgery consult. This is listed as an emergency surgery. I have been told her ligaments will not heal on their own without surgical intervention due to the extent of her injury. Unexpected medical expense. Single mom. Recently divorced. Decrease in work hours. Having her well and back to her normal self would be amazing. She will need to be restricted for 6-12 weeks and I will have to take time off work to take her to and from surgery and monitor her

Harper
Harper is a 2-year-old Lab Mix in Mills River, NC, who needs $2,000 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy.
Mills River, NC
After four years of marriage without a companion, my husband and I decided it was time. Our little bundle of joy was born June 9th, 2019 as a result of her dad having a short sleepover at his grandmas. She immediately filled the void and what a fun 2 years it has been! We have enjoyed spoiling her like our own flesh and blood. Harper LOVES to swim! She loves to be scratched and has perfected her pity party when you stop. She LOVES when her Ninny and Pap come visit. She LOVES her “little” brother (GSD/Mastiff) twice her size. She has such a sweet and loving soul. She clings to her mom. She is an amazing protector and knows exactly how to handle each situation that needs her protection. Harper always knows what’s needed, weather it’s licking your tears away, snuggling after a long hard day or talking back in conversation. However, she needs the favor returned if she hears fireworks or thunder. She is such a thankful dog, she will literally come and thank you with a kiss or a smile after doing any small task for her. She truly is our earthly angel! Harper has partially torn her ACL which has steadily decreased her quality of life. Even with around the clock pain medication, the pain has prevented her from doing the things she loves and we want our two year old to feel like herself again! We found a wonderful surgeon - Dr. Crouch at Western Carolina Veterinary Surgery in Arden, NC to perform a TPLO to get our baby back to normal. A recent medical diagnosis requiring many visits to the doctor and unexpected hospital visits, infusions, lab work, etc and an unfortunate chain of events due to the pandemic we stretched ourselves thin. Having Harper back to full function will continue to help us pull through!
