Grace Emerson’s Condition was Preventable: Help Us Help Her

Grace Emerson was close to losing her life. This tiny poodle mix was surrendered to a shelter to be euthanized because she was “sick.” But what was really happening was worse than they could have imagined. Grace had never been spayed and was suffering from pyometra, a severe, life-threatening infection of the uterus. Left untreated, pyometra can turn fatal in just days. In Grace’s case, the infection had progressed so far that her uterus was dangerously enlarged—one of the worst her vet had seen in a dog her size. Because of CAMO Rescue, Grace got that chance. She was rushed to the ER for emergency surgery just in time. Today, she’s home. She’s snuggled up and finally cared for. But her fight isn’t over. Grace still needs ongoing medical care, monitoring, and support as she heals from both surgery and the neglect she endured. Pyometra is preventable. Spaying saves lives. Lando, my 10-year-old Boxer/Bulldog mix, was rescued from a shelter after surviving a gunshot wound. He now lives with me and his Husky-type brother, Solo, in Sugar Land, Texas. Lando recently completed 13 weeks of CHOP chemotherapy for T-cell lymphoma and is in remission. Despite also managing a CCL tear, he remains active, enjoys daily walks, naps with Solo, and receives attentive home care. Lando, my 10-year-old Boxer/Bulldog mix, is receiving treatment at the Animal Cancer Center of the Woodlands. He recently completed 13 weeks of CHOP chemotherapy for T-cell lymphoma and is currently in remission. In addition, he is managing a CCL tear with medication and controlled exercise. His regular veterinary care is provided by Foster Creek Veterinary Hospital for ongoing support. Lando is special because he has shown incredible resilience and joy despite many challenges. Rescued after surviving a gunshot wound, he continues to live with love, strength, and playfulness. Even while battling lymphoma and a CCL tear, he greets each day with tail wags, cuddles, and curiosity, inspiring everyone around him with his bravery and unshakable spirit. I owned Riley’s mom for 8 years and hoped for a playmate, but Riley was rehomed to someone who severely abused and neglected her for a year and a half. After rescuing her back, she became my absolute world. Because of her past trauma, she is my only pet and needs specialized care, but she has so much love to give Riley has a Grade 2 heart murmur causing severe weakness, shallow breathing, and choking episodes. Monday's echocardiogram estimate is $540, but we need approximately $700 total to cover both the scan and the vital medications she must start immediately to stop her heart from enlarging further. Next Step: On Monday, ask Riley is my ultimate snuggle bug and sleeps right beside me every night. Because I saved her from a bad situation, she clings to me with so much love and trust. She’s scared of thunder, but she loves her special talking toys! I have had Rocco since he was 2 months old. I got him from a family member whose friend had puppies and the puppies were going to get put down. He has been my best friend since I was 17. Rocco has multiple health concerns. He was rushed to the vet and upon checking he had a ruptured abscess in his abdomen that was leaking septic fluid. They also found two masses. One near his penis and one near his groin. He also has a perianal hernia that will need to be operated on once he recovers from the 3 surgeries he just underwent. Rocco is such a special strong boy. Everyone that comes into contact with Rocco ends up loving him. He loves kids and other pets. He’s the best boy in the whole world! This is a sudden major expense and it has become costly. The total I am at currently is 18K I have 14K of the cost covered but with still having to maintain a household as a single mother I fear I would struggle to pay the rest of the cost as the cost seems to keep rising.

Riley has been part of our family since she was just 9 weeks old. My son raised her from a puppy, and she grew up surrounded by love. When he relocated to another state and could no longer care for her, I stepped in without hesitation. Since then, Riley has been right by my side. She’s not just a pet, she’ my grand puppy. She’s been a constant companion, bringing love, comfort, and joy. What we initially thought was a simple urinary tract infection has turned into something much more concerning. Riley was taken to Banfield pet hospital, twice. Both times, she was given antibiotics. What once was a trace of blood has now become more, issues with holding her urine. She he urgently needs diagnostic testing and treatment to determine what’s wrong and how to help her. She grew up side by side with her human sister, Naomi, who is now 5 years old. The two of them were inseparable. Wherever Naomi was, Riley was right there with her. She would gently lay her head on Naomi while she slept, like she was keeping watch over her. When Naomi was little, Riley would crawl along the floor with her, matching her pace, playing and staying close like a true companion. At the present time, I’m barely making ends meet. Since COVID, my rent has increased by $400, which has made it difficult to handle unexpected expenses like this. Veterinary care, testing, and possible treatment costs are quickly adding up.

Bella Dingo

Bella Dingo was rescued through Justice Rescue. She was about two, and had had at least two litters. She was very sad at first. She loved being the only pet in a home with three boys and two parents. Bella Dingo has a huge tumor on her ankle. On May 11, she will have it debulked & biopsied. Delaware Valley Vets said they will not be able to get all of it, tendrils go through the the other side of her paw. She has extreme separation anxiety, and she is going to have to stay there for about 40 hours. If growth was just water or fat it could come right back, if C she needs chemo or radiation. Bella Dingo loves to run and hunt. We've had to move all of the rabbits and groundhogs away from our yard (to parks). She is super fast, and her ankle does not slow her down at all. She loves to be outside. She is very attached to me, and won't eat or play if I am at work. She is good with dogs and children. She won the only scent work competition I entered her in, the other dogs had experience. I was just a substitute teacher ($85/day) until getting my full time teaching position 4 years ago. We have three boys in college. My husband is a teacher, too. Our house suddenly needed 4 major repairs in 2020, taking all of our savings and then some.

Welcome Panzy to CAMO Rescue. This sweet 3-year-old small poodle mix was found in heartbreaking condition after being attacked by a much larger dog. Despite everything she has endured, Panzy has remained incredibly gentle and loving. Her foster quickly discovered just how special she is. While they were asleep, Panzy alerted them to a fire, saving their lives. Even after her own trauma, this brave little girl was looking out for someone else. Panzy is now safe with CAMO Rescue, where she is receiving the care, medical attention, and love she needs to heal. Abandoned at Our Gate — But Not Forgotten Cookie is just 6–7 months old. A baby, really. She didn’t arrive as a stray. She arrived with a passport. Medical records. Paperwork. Proof that she once belonged to someone. Through our CCTV cameras, we watched a family walk up to the secure emergency cages outside our old shelter gate — cages we installed strictly for injured and abused homeless animals while our team focuses on building homes at our new sanctuary. They placed Cookie inside… and walked away. They looked sad. But they still left her. ACF Animal Rescue was not prepared for pets to be abandoned there. Those cages were meant to protect injured strays until we could reach them — not to become drop-off points for unwanted family members. When we found Cookie, she was frozen in fear. She growled, not out of aggression, but terror. She refused food. She wouldn’t drink. Her whole tiny body had shut down. We moved slowly. Spoke softly. Gently looped a leash. Lifted her with care. And brought her to the new sanctuary — where she became the very first resident of our new home. And something beautiful happened. Cookie began to trust again. Today, she: • Has been given Bravecto • Has been fully dewormed • Has received a complete medical check and is healthy • Is receiving proper nutrition and daily care • Loves her toys and is settling in beautifully Cookie didn’t choose to be abandoned. chula came into my life only 4 months ago but has made the best impact on my life originally rescued by my father found skinny sick with fleas and rashes all over her disagreed like garbage she was dumped in a dumpster. she was brought to me and I tended to her till she was in the best shape ever. she lived with me my 2 uncles and her bff Luka my uncles dog also half French bulldog and lovesevery1 on Jan10 chula woke up with her back legs paralyzed she was diagnosed with ivdd her paralyze legs is caused by her disc compressing her spinal cord she has a good prognosis she still has feeling in her legs and toes she has a good chance at recovering and able to walk again with surgery and a neologist I want to take her to sage vet but unfortunately this is a 3-10krange currently on meds&bedrest chula is defiantly a little character this strong little girl wants nothing more then all your love and booty scratches she isn't afraid to tell u what she has to say and this spoiled diva knows its her world she is full of energy loves rough housing with Luka and playing tug of war she can make a room light up with laughter with her crooked smile she follows me everywhere and helped me atmylowest I wish I had all the money in the world to help chula unfortunately I have a fixed income and recently got my hours cut at work so this unexpected problem is a bit a burden I hate to not have a choice when it comes to my bbys health please help me get chula back to herself
