Calvin

Calvin is a 6 year old Mix-Breed in Scarborough, ME, who needs $2,000 for Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia.

Scarborough, ME

We adopted Calvin in 2020 through a rescue in NH. He joined his big sister, Cleo, Dana, and I in our home in Scarborough. He has been the most perfect addition to our family ever since. Medically, Calvy has not had an easy ride. When we first adopted him, he struggled with tummy and skin issues, however, once figured out, he was a healthy, happy 50 pound boy with an amazing and shiny coat. In 2022, Calvin was brought to MVMC and was ultimately diagnosed with PLE. With a special diet, meds, and check ups, Calvin was back to his energetic self in no time. This past June, Calvin returned to MVMC because of concerning symptoms, where he was diagnosed with IMHA. After 3 weeks of recovering, he was readmitted twice within a week, due to other complications with IMHA and the strong meds. Calvy is the most special boy. He brightens every room, and everyone's day. He is goofy, energetic, curious, clever, and so loving. He lets his sisters boss him around, but he loves them. He loves running on trails, sticking his head out the window, sleeping under the covers during bedtime, eating snacks, laying on his (many) dog beds in any room we are in, and just being anywhere with his family. We work really hard: Dana's overtime days, and my working 3 part time gigs, even after teaching. With PLE, there were many medical expenses. And now, with IMHA, there are good days and hard days, and consistent medical expenses for our Calvy boy to be all the way healthy.

Magnus

Magnus is a 3 year old Golden Retriever in El Dorado, KS, who needs $2,500 for Chemotherapy.

El Dorado, KS

Magnus is a 3½-year-old Golden Retriever who has been with me since he was an 8-week-old puppy. He lives at home with me and three other dogs, and he has always been the gentle, easygoing heart of our family. He's incredibly patient, loves everyone he meets, and has helped welcome every new dog into our home. His name, Magnus, means "great," and it suited his calm, loving personality. Magnus was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and is currently receiving treatment through Kutter Pet Care Center under the guidance of a veterinary oncologist. He has started chemotherapy, and is not having a great response to the current protocol. This is not a one-time emergency but an ongoing medical condition. Every extra day that treatment gives him is precious. Magnus is the kind of dog who makes everyone smile. He LOVES tennis balls, leaning against people for hugs, and spending time with his canine siblings. He's incredibly gentle, affectionate, and always seems to know when someone needs comfort. Whether we're relaxing at home or outside playing fetch, he's happiest just being close to the people he loves. Magnus's cancer diagnosis came at the worst possible time. His dad recently lost his job, and we're preparing to move while facing overwhelming veterinary bills. Every donation helps us continue his chemotherapy and gives him a chance to keep fighting.

Zena

Zena is a 2 year old American Pit Bull Terrier in Wellington, CO, who needs $5,941 for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy.

Wellington, CO

Zena came to us as a 8 week puppy after we lost our oldest dog. We picked her out because she was the toughest of the litter, perfect for her hyper older brother Charlie. We named her after Xena the Warrior Princess because she is a tough little lady. We’ve had her 2 years now. They love playing in our big backyard, though our dog door is blocked right now so she can rest her injured knees. Zena partially tore the CCL in both knees, with her left being worse. She was resting, but on July 3, she tried to play with her brother and began heavily limping, barely putting weight on her left leg. It breaks my heart because we used to play daily after work, and now she can't run or hardly walk. She is being treated by Tabby Road Animal Hospital in Wellington, CO, and needs knee surgery. Zena is a tough cookie with the sweetest heart. Her absolute favorite thing is playing with her big brother Charlie in our backyard. She is a total lovebug who brings so much happiness to our family. She rules the house like a true warrior princess but melts whenever she gets a treat. The bond we share makes it so hard to see her sidelined right now while she waits for surgery. We are still paying a loan for Charlie’s surgery. Now Zena needs both legs fixed. Living tight on bills makes another loan impossible. Having her healthy would mean absolute joy and immense emotional relief, we just want our happy girl pain-free and walikng/playing again!
