My husband (Nathaniel), son (Noah) and I adopted Skipper through Petco adoptions in September 2016 when he was about 14 weeks old. They had named him and we liked it, so we decided to keep it. However, he does have several nicknames, such as "Skip", "Skipper D" and "puppers". Skipper lives with his hooman Mom, Dad, Brother and Grandma. He loves playing with Dad and Brother, getting tons of treats from Grandma and getting back scratches and belly rubs from Mom. Skipper has grown up with my son and at times, has been his only friend. They have a special bond. Skipper is a fantastic guard dog, who barks at everyone outside, especially the delivery people. After meals, he likes to wipe his face on the rug or blankets (hey, he doesn't have hands to use a napkin)! He makes really funny noises when he hears Grandma doing pretty much anything downstairs. He will also howl to opera or the "A-OO-Wa" from Angry Birds. At Skipper's most recent check-up at Solomon's Veterinary Hospital, we alerted Dr. Gary Holmes to a growth under his left front armpit and the fact that he was starting to limp a little bit. After exam, he diagnosed a SQ soft tissue mass in the left axilla. Given the location and that it's grown enough to start causing ambulatory issues, Dr. Holmes recommends removal and biopsy. Unfortunately, my family and I live paycheck to paycheck. We're now in a situation where we have to pay several thousand dollars to have the transmission fixed in my car, as well as Skipper's surgery. There just isn't enough money or credit to pay for both.

Simba

Simba is a 4-year-old Catahoula Mix in Cape Coral, FL, who needs $2,000 for MRI of the Spine.

We got Simba when he was just a couple of months old, as a friend for our other dog, Duke, who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. He has always been super active, energetic, and smiley. He aims to please and is a big lap-dog. His favorite toy in the world is his red Jolly Pets ball; it's truly an addiction. He cries without his ball, and chasing his ball is what got him into this predicament. Simba was born 6 months after our son and has grown up alongside both of our kids. They all wrestle like siblings and know each other's boundaries. They all love each other so much and always look out for each other. If our kids are playing nerf wars with dad, Simba will join in to "protect" his human siblings and bark at dad. Also, whenever we play the harmonica, Simba loves to join in, howling. Simba is so special to our family because of his being a "do do head," as the kids call him. He's crazy, silly, gets the zoomies with his tail between his legs, sings with a harmonica, only loves his red ball, smiles all the time, naps on his back with his legs sprawled every direction in the air, etc. He always shows his love and can tell if you're sick or having a rough day. About 9 am on 8/30/23, Simba chased his ball in the backyard. Spontaneously, he dropped, like a deer getting shot by a hunter, and screamed in pain. It hurts to stand, walk, sit, lay. He drags his leg to walk and the leg is stick straight After a thorough exam, the neurologist's guess would be a FCE (spinal cord stroke), which happens instantaneously like the incident. Required an MRI to diagnose Hurricane Ian devastated our area on 9/28/22, and we've been fighting our insurance company for payment to fix damages. My husband had a car accident on 4/6/23, and we didn't get our car back til 8/11/23. We paid $5500+ out of pocket for a rental car during that time.

Rocco

Rocco is a 11-month-old French Bulldog in Hialeah, FL, who needs $2,000 for Surgery.

Rocco was adopted a year ago as an 8 week old puppy. He came into my life and quickly adopted a space in my heart. He was given his name because how stubborn he was as a puppy and it seemed a good fit for his character. Rocco is a social dog. He adores the attention he gets from everyone. If you walk past him and don’t pet him, he will cry for the attention. He is constantly looking for a hand or foot to rub under and is always happy to have company. Rocco has filled a void in my life that had felt impossible to fill. When I come home, his little eyes look up to me in search of love and kisses. I walk him and he is always by my side. His snorts and snoring make the crowd in the room laugh. Rocco has been diagnosed with the possibility of cancer. After taking him to two local vets, I was informed that he required surgery to remove these tumors. He also has additional surgeries he will need due to the nature of his breed. At the moment, I am facing a financial crisis. I have recently lost my job. I struggle to ensure my bills are on time, but prioritize Rocco’s food and time.

Max became a part of our family as a rescue when he was about a year old. He is the best boy ever! For the past 9 years Max has been a healthy boy with no issues. He loves everyone and everyone loves him. He is beloved by the senior citizens at the nursing home we visit frequently, and until very recently he has been very active and healthy! Max is a true Akita. He speaks softly but his presence is never in question. Everywhere we go and everyone we meet always love max and max loves the attention! His quality of life is suffering now though, it’s difficult to take him anywhere because of the prostate issue discovered recently Max is an adorable Akita, he loved to chase his toys and fetch before this prostate issue emerged. We would walk miles and miles and he would love every moment. Max has been my rock ever since his brother blue passed from complications of DM. Max makes everyone who seems him smile, and his soft white fur must be petted at any opportunity! Last week, after noticing max was having trouble urinating, the vet diagnosed possible prostate cancer. His prostate has become enlarged and is compressing his urethra making it painful and difficult to urinate. He tries and tries but can’t. I’ve had to get him cathetered twice and he’s in baytril antibiotic trying to save his life. Max means the world to my family. We make ends meet but the cost of medications and vet bills has been extreme, and the potential cost of surgery seems out of reach. One week of baytril antibiotic cost $150 plus multiple catheters at the vet. Please help us save Max!

Our sweet Lucy was attacked by another dog. She is fighting for her little life right now. We want to bring our girl home, but the vet bill is going to be extremely high, as she is needing critical care. Any help is so appreciated!! We adopted her when she was just a pup. We are all she knows, and I know she wants to be home with us😭❤️ Lucy is the kindest, sweetest girl!! We have had her since she was a pup. She is secretly our favorite. Don’t tell our other dogs😉!! Lucy loves our other fur babies, and they are super lost and confused without her. She really loves our adopted boy, Ziggy. They are best friends!! They like to snuggle on the couch and soak up the sun outside together. Lulu is sweet, but a feisty little lady!! I’m grateful for her feist, because that is what is keeping her alive right now. She is a little fighter!! Lu loves her humans more than anything. She especially has a special bond with my 8yr old son. He loves his Lulu. They sleep together every night, and he is really missing her. Lucy was attacked by another dog. We adopted the dog that attacked her. The city forced us to put her down. It was an isolated incident. Stella was a very sweet girl. We aren’t sure why she decided to hurt our Lucy. Not only are we grieving our Stella, but we are missing our Lucy too! She has a punctured trachea that needs to be repaired! I was recently assaulted and ended up needing surgery. I missed a ton of work without being paid. We are just trying to recover from that and get caught up. We just really want our girl back home. She is our little angel baby, and is our world!!

A little over 11 years ago I purchased three little 6 week kittens that ended up saving my life!! I was a domestic violence survivor and before I left everything behind to move back home I brought these kitties with me. Mr. Milo is no longer a kitty anymore and is a very loving cat to me and his sisters! Milo is a huge part of our family! He is our baby! He is so loving to my husband and I and his 2 sisters. Milo loves to snuggle, give kisses, loves his pets, and loves attention in general! Milo is very loving towards his sisters as he makes sure they are primped and taken care of everyday. He truly is the man of our house! Milo is so very special for so many reasons! Milo is a cat but acts like a dog in the sense that he likes to give kisses by licking you! If you say to him 'kisses' or ask him to give you kisses he will nudge you with his cute little wet nose then lick you with love! I really love to just listen to him purr whenever he is happy! Milo unfortunately has had a history of chronic bladder infections. He was recently diagnosed with a crystal blockage in his bladder. Thankfully my husband was home to find him soon enough before it was fatal. This bill to unblock him was just about $2000 and we are really struggling make ends meet. Especially with having to buy special dietary food to prevent this from happening again. This was an unexpected massive financial expense. It has been hard to try and pay our bills let alone have money to save for the unexpected things that come up in life like this. This will mean everything to my husband and I and his two sisters to have our boy healthy!

Dice can't urinate due to a life-threatening bladder entrapment.

Meet Dice. He is suffering from a severe perineal hernia where his bladder has become trapped outside of where it belongs. The condition has worsened to the point that he cannot urinate and urgently needs surgery to save his life. What makes Dice's story especially heartbreaking is that this condition is preventable through neutering. The surgery he needs is extensive, specialized, and expensive — with costs approaching $10,000. Dice remains hospitalized with a urinary catheter in place to keep him stable until he can have surgery. Without surgery, his condition will continue to worsen. With surgery, Dice will get a second chance at his best life. Perineal hernias are seen most commonly in unneutered male dogs, making Dice's story an important reminder of the lifesaving role spaying and neutering can play in preventing serious medical conditions. Tomorrow, Dice can get his chance. We will share updates as he begins his road to recovery. Until then, please hold Dice in your hearts as you help us give him the future he deserves. Simba was given to me and my partner by one of his friends. We got him as a companion for our kitten Binx (who just had to be put down on Friday September 13). We have just moved into a new home to give him more space. Our little guy is a sweet loving boy who loves to make biscuits. Simba currently has a fractured jaw and leg. We are unsure of how this occurred due to being at work. We noticed he was not being himself and took him to the vet where he got a tape muzzle placed on his face but unfortunately cannot keep that on. He needs more invasive treatment which can cost us over $5,000. Simba loves to make biscuits on fluffy blankets and also loves to suck on the blanket in order to taste his creations. He follows his mommy around the house and loves to lay in bed on his mommy while making biscuits. He is a sweet friendly guy. We are currently on a fixed income with just moving. With these unknown pet expenses and losing our other kitten we cannot afford to get him the proper treatment he needs. We would love to get simba better so he can be happy and continue growing.

URGENT: Desperate Pup Hauls Himself Across the Ground

We truly don’t have the words for how devastating Snow’s condition is. His tiny front legs are shattered—so badly damaged that he’s been forced to drag himself across hard concrete just to move. They bend at unnatural angles, and there’s no telling how long he’s been pulling his broken body forward on unforgiving ground. Instead of being protected and cared for, he was abandoned on the streets by the very people who were meant to love him. But Snow’s story didn’t end there. When he came into our care, he couldn’t stand. He couldn’t walk. He could only push himself forward using his back legs, inch by painful inch. Seeing him try is something we will never forget. We don’t know when his injuries happened. Were his legs broken after he was dumped? Or was he left behind because his family didn’t want to face the cost of his care? The uncertainty is heartbreaking. A compassionate Good Samaritan refused to look away from his suffering. They made the call that saved his life and helped arrange his urgent transfer to us. Once Snow arrived, we made him as comfortable as possible and rushed him for X-rays first thing the next morning. The results were devastating. The damage to his legs is severe, and the path forward will not be easy. Snow now urgently needs specialized orthopedic care, likely surgery, and extensive rehabilitation if he is ever going to walk again.
