Sylvester

Sylvester is a 12 year old Mix-Breed in Nashville, TN, who needs $6,500 for Unilateral Arytenoid Lateralization.

Nashville, TN

When Sylvester came into my life I promised to love him and take care of him for his whole life. I kept that promise. Throughout the 12 years I have had him, he has given me so much more than I have given him. He taught me what unconditional love is, something I had not known until I had him. He was there through everything, and I can only repay him by keeping my promise. He is my best friend. On 9/16 Sylvester went to the emergency vet hospital. He has laryngeal paralysis and tracheal collapse. He can't keep his airway open and he will die from this. He needs a specialty surgery to tie his airway open, so we can have more time together. With that borrowed time I will continue to love and cherish him for the rest of his life. His care is with nashville veterinary specialist Sylvester is so intelligent. He talks to me with different sounding meows and has taught me to understand him. He has a specidic meow for everything he likes and dislikes. This added to his sassy sweet personality. He is my best friend. Everyday he purrs and shows his love to me. And everyday I show my love to him. He loves to sit by the window and watch the world go by. This surgery is ~6500 dollars. I have a rare headache condition that causes me to get stroke like symptoms. Because of this I have no emergency fund and cannot come up with that amount of money within a month. Without medical care I wouldnt even be able to drive or work.

Astro

Astro is a 3 year old Mix-Breed in Mesa, AZ, who needs $2,000 for Colopexy Surgery.

Mesa, AZ

I first saw Astro on the Humane Society website located in Arizona. When I first saw that picture it was like love at first sight, all I knew was that I had to have him. As soon as we got out first meeting in person both me and my daughter knew he was meant for our little family. Later that same day he was in the car with us heading to his forever home. Shortly after we had brought Astro home he had a rectal prolapse which was fixed with a stitch that day. 2 weeks later when the stitch was taken out, he had a reoccurrence. From then he has undergone 4 procedures to push his rectum in and place a new stitch. We have been to 4 different animal hospital (Alta Mesa, VCA, Crown Urgent vet, and Lovet). Our last option is a colopexy surgery. Astro is a gentle soul. He was found on the streets in phoenix with multiple abuse injuries' from his previous owners. Despite the life that he faced before, he continues to see the best in everyone he comes across. He has a little brother and an older sister which he has shown unconditional love for. He also has a profound love for water, whether its during bath time or the pool. Astro's health has been our top priority since he has came home with us. However, I am a full time student in med school, & the vet bills have begun to stack into the thousands. This surgery is a long term solution for us. A colopexy surgery is estimated to be around $4,000.

Luna

Luna is a 1 year old Chihuahua in Lansing, MI, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Treatment for Grade 3 Patellar Luxation.

Lansing, MI • The House of Promise

Luna is *Eleanor’s best friend & beloved life-saving companion. Luna is a Psychiatric Service Dog trained to interrupt Eleanor’s dissociative episodes brought on by the trauma she suffered as a victim of human trafficking. Eleanor has been struggling with Dissociative Identity Disorder since childhood & has made more progress with Luna by her side than with any other therapy she has tried. At only 16 months old, Luna cannot run or play. Simple things like jumping up on Eleanor’s lap causes both of her kneecaps to go out. Luna’s condition is a Grade III Patellar Luxation which means both kneecaps ride out of their grooves most of the time & requires surgical intervention. Very few places do this surgery & Blue Pearl in Grand Rapids has offered us a discount as a nonprofit. As a Service Animal, Luna goes everywhere with Eleanor, she helps her with her PTSD & anxiety. Because of the trauma, Eleanor doesn’t do hug or shakes hands, but Luna is always there to accept any and all hugs. When Eleanor is terrified of being in a vehicle, Luna is there as a calming presence which in turned has allowed her to be less dependent on her anxiety medication. Eleanor is currently a resident of The House of Promise’s rehabilitation program for survivors of sex trafficking & is working on her healing to regain her independence to re-enter into society. She is unable to pay for Luna’s urgent surgery. Luna has changed Eleanor’s life!

Kush

Kush is a 6-year-old Chawinnie in Caldwell, ID, who needs $2,000 for Double Hernia Surgery.

Caldwell, ID

We got kush 6 years ago. Chosen out of a litter of pups we fell in love. (The next day we got his brother.) We call him “bushin boy” he is very energetic and happy he loves his brothers and sister. His brother and him have been together nearly every day of their life. Kush usually sleeps in veg with my husband and I and our other 3 dogs. He loves going outside to chase the squirrels on the yard. He loves watching the fish tanks we have set up and seeing the gerbils and hamster when we change thier bedding. He loves all treats but tends to just help himself when treats are present. He loves to snuggles his brothers and sister during the day as well. Kush is obsessed with his big sister taffy. She is a boarder collie Aussie mix. When we come back in from going potty kush loves to spin around in circles throwing himself in the air. He does it more when you tell him he’s a good boy. Everything about him makes he smile and happy everyday. Kush has two hernias. One on each side of his butt. We’ve taken him and and they’ve cleaned him out but the problem still persists that if his bladder slips into the hernia it WILL be life threatening. We have him on laxative medication now but surgery is out only option. Kushs surgeries are estimated at $5000 to repair the hernias and $300-$500 to get him fixed. A consult is $180 to get a fine tune on how much it will be altogether. Kush means the world to us he is our baby.

Fred

Fred is a 14-year-old Domestic Short Hair Tabby Cat in Madison, TN, who needs $1,300 for Dental with Full Extractions.

madison, TN • Healing Hearts Animal Rescue

Fred is a beautiful 14 year old tabby who is extremely loving & affectionate. Sadly this sweet boy was abused and neglected by his previous owners. They had all 4 of his paws declawed, cutting off every one of his toes. When they moved from a trailer to a new home, Fred was not allowed to come with them, and left alone in the trailer. Thankfully Fred was rescued & brought to Healing Hearts. Fred is super curious, loving and out and about with the others. He was lucky enough to have healthy bloodwork for his age, but his teeth are in horrible condition. Fred is in so much pain that he has refused to eat on his own for nearly all of the past month. When he is fed with a syringe, he will swallow the food, but then vomits it up later. Since the day he came here, Fred has slept with his foster mom every night, but now he is too weak to do that. He feels so horrible now that he will not even eat cheese, which is his favorite food. We have found a vet that can fit him in as soon as next week if we can get enough donations. Please consider donating to help this sweet, gentle, boy. He is rapidly running out of time. He is on pain medication but due to the vomiting and refusing to eat, he has lost a dramatic amount of weight as you can see from his current picture and his original picture. He has become so emaciated that he is very weak and struggling to walk. The wonderful Dr. Good at Hermitage Animal Clinic has agreed to treat him. Fred urgently needs high quality, high calorie pate canned food. What he needs most, though, is donations to cover his dental cleaning and extractions. We have found a vet that can fit him in as soon as next week if we can get enough donations to cover the procedure.

Photo of Maybell

Maybell

Maybell is a 3-year-old Pitbull in Louisiana, MO, who needs $400 for Steroid Injection.

Louisiana, MO

I adopted Maybell from a shelter down in St Louis MO. I had been looking for a dog for a friend for my Doberman for several months when one day I happen to come across Maybell's video that the Shelter had posted on their website advertising her being available for adoption. Her eyes absolutely made my heart melt. She has the most caring, loving look on her face you could ever imagine. When I first brought her home, she and my Doberman immediately bonded. They ran together in the yard and wrestle all the time together. They are inseparable. The love them two have for each other is absolutely incredible. They have their own bedroom with a couch in it where they hang out when Im at work or at bedtime. These two are constantly licking and kissing each other. Theis dog loves to cuddle, she will whine if she can't get close enough to her humans. She is scared of a lot of noises though, so you have to be really careful with the vacuum or anything that makes noise. If there are sirens going off outside, she immediately wants inside. She is very special to me unlike any dog I've ever had before. Maybell started limping a bit but now it is almost constant. She won't use her back left leg at all. So, I took her into the vet, and they did Xray's and discovered that she has an ACL Tear that needs a steroid injection and join supplements to help her heal. Thankfully it is only a partial tear but needs immediate assistance, so it doesn't get worse. I am a single person and I only have one income. Just recently I had to pay for emergency surgery for my Doberman so I am currently paying on her vet bills and the this happened with my pitbull. My dogs mean everything to me, they are my family.

Photo of Grogu

Grogu

Grogu is a 0-year-old Shorthair Domestic Kitten in Salem, OR, who needs $2,000 for Surgical Repair.

Salem, OR

Little Grogu is a feral kitten we have adopted. We took it upon ourselves to catch two female feral cats in our neighborhood that keep having multiple litter and we planned to adopt the kittens out to loving homes and to get both mamas fix then released back. That's when we found Grogu and we just couldn't turn him away. He truly captured our hearts. We couldn't help falling in love with this kitten. He is only about three weeks old so we leave him with his mama and the rest of the litter till they all get old enough to get weened. I go in the room daily to stock up food and water for mama cat and while I'm in there Grogu will always be the first to come out and greet me. He is a very curious boy! He loves chin scratches his purrs prove it. Grogu is already an amazing pet because he is always there to greet any new comer hello. I will be in the room chatting it up with the kittens and mama, when my Golden Retriever will come up to the door wanting in. Grogu will, with no fear, go over and say hello. He is also a great cuddler and will fall asleep in my lap within seconds. He doesn't let anything stop him from exploring and playing. Grogu has a leg deformity where his knee joint was born rearwards, this has caused his leg to be bent and extended in an abnormal position which then caused enough muscle tension to force his foot joint to be stuck in an abnormal position as well. Our veterinarian has said this is a one-of-a-kind deformity that hasn't been seen or read about. While we will do our absolute best to pay for the surgery on our own, this unique and historic procedure will, unfortunately, extend passed our wallets' reach. With only one income, we could use some help. We really just want to see Grogu live a happy and healthy life.
