Mia was adopted from PetSmart by one of the employees and I began to foster her soon after. She had come out of a bad situation, not allowing anyone to get near her, she was very shy and would hide all the time, only coming out at night when everyone was asleep. She has come such a long way in the 2 years that she has been my baby, even allowing me to hold her for short periods of time. She was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis and is being treated at Pender Veterinary Center in Fairfax, VA. She was brought in Saturday evening after I found her barely responsive on my floor after returning to work. She is still being treated and is not expected to come home for a few day, with her being in the vet for 7 days total, hopefully. Mia's favorite thing in the work is her person, my boyfriend, Cam. They have bonded in a way that I have yet to understand. She is a completely different cat around him, and he loves her with all his heart, maybe a little more than he loves me. Her eyes brighten up when he goes to visit her at the vet with me, and we are ready for her to be home with us again. Mia's bill was originally expected to be $5,500 on the low end, but has well exceeded that amount, and is now expected to be closer to $17,600. I have been able to contribute $10,500, emptying out my savings, but am struggling to come up with the remaining $7,100.

Now, he's a caring big brother to five younger kitties, showing love and comfort through play and affection. His journey emphasizes the importance of giving animals second chances and the joy they bring. Kevin has an intestinal blockage. The blockage is his fecal matter. The only way to manage his condition would be through surgery. This is an emergency as he has become very malnourished. He will be treated at Garden State Veterinary Services in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Kevin brings immense joy with his gentle purrs and playful nature. He's our constant companion, offering comfort in tough times with a reassuring meow. His playful antics remind us of life's simple joys. Kevin is a cherished family member, providing warmth and love every night. I 56 years old, undergoing acute kidney failure and requiring dialysis thrice a week. I adopted Walter from the Lubbock Animal Shelter a year after my first rescue, Peach, passed. We went and looked at the dogs and I wanted to take them all home! I went in the kennel and played with Walter. He was just 6 months old. We left without him but on the way home, I cried so much, my husband had to turn around. We adopted Walter. He's been my sidekick ever since. He's my Wally dog! Walter loves people. He gets so excited whenever we have company. He knows everybody by name. He will go look for whoever you call by going to their room to look. He's part of the family! He loves to go for car rides and going to the park for walks. He loves to spend time with the family outside chasing balls, birds and squirrels. He loves to go night-night in my bed and takes over the bed! Walter is the smartest dog I have ever had. He learns new things quickly and is very well behaved. He knows where to go sit while we eat dinner and he knows how to give hugs. He loves to chase his ball and play tug of war. He gets sad when he does not get go for car rides. He loves to play with other animals but is still learning how to play with cats without getting beat up! Walter tore is left ACL as a result of the "zoomies". He was excited and jumping on and off the bed. I took him to the vet and was told it should heal on its own. It seemed to be getting better when he began favoring his right leg. I took him to a different vet and a full exam was performed. Walter now needs surgery on both legs, starting with the right. I have to help my Wally! Before I adopted Walter, I waited until I was in spot where I could provide the proper care and veterinary visits. This last year, my husband was diagnosed with several different issues. He was hospitalized twice and we have lost income because of his illness.

We are a family that believes in adopt don’t shop. -Nova was at the local animal shelter with 7 siblings. We lost Josie and felt that we needed to fill our hearts again with puppy love. Our pets are part of our family. They do everything with us from walks, swimming, watching tv and watching the sunsets. We treat them with lots of love. Needless to say they are spoiled rotten. We love our rescue pups. They have become a good emotional support for us during tough times we have even created “voices” of hold conversations with them. Lol. We have had two catastrophic events occur with our fur-babies over the last month. -Josie, who was an 8 yr old pitbull had passed away traumatically. -The last week in September, we only had Nova for 2 wks. She was playing with our other dog Winston. He ran into her and fractured two ribs and created lesions on her lung. She had to have 1/3 of her lung removed and at MSU for 5 days. It has cost $7500 for Nova’s care. This is our daughters dog and she works part time and is a student. We have helped out but it is straining our funds.

Hey guys...this is Willow. She's a stray kitten I found 1 month ago. She was attacked by something and I made the mistake of taking her to the wrong vet spending $1000 already with no improvement. Kitten is/was a stray did not expect to take on this burden. I care for her life and needs a voice. However, I don't have thousands of dollars to spend or afford for her recovery.

Huckleberry is a 1-year-old stray, finally caught at a berry farm in early July after days loose near a main road in brutal heat, neighbors said he’d been out over a week. We named him for the place that finally gave him shelter. He came to us filthy, matted, and holding one front leg up. He’s now safe indoors in our foster home through Dog Warriors Rescue, crate-rested beside our senior dog Milo. X-rays at Quartet Specialty Hospital found a fractured front leg and, to our shock, a tooth left in the soft tissue. Huckleberry was attacked by another dog. That tooth is feeding an abscess that clears on antibiotics and returns the week he finishes them. He’s been hurting a long time. Surgery to remove it, clean out the infection, and stabilize the fracture is the only thing that saves the leg. For his first week here, Huckleberry trembled every time we touched him. And every time we stopped, he’d lift a paw and tap us, asking for more. He wanted to be loved more than he was afraid. He has never growled, never snapped. He sleeps pressed against my leg. Last week he picked up a toy for the first time. He is just learning how to be a dog and that people can be kind. Dog Warriors is small and volunteer-run, already stretched covering his emergency care. We can’t absorb this alone. Funding it means Huckleberry keeps his leg — and that the next dog found on a roadside still gets someone to say yes. We just want to see him run without pain.

Three Days in an Oxygen Chamber Saved Sturgeon's Life

Sturgeon has already survived more than any puppy ever should. When Sturgeon was only five weeks old, his mother was tragically killed, leaving him and his littermates alone to survive without food, shelter, or water. Thankfully, Beagles and Bentleys stepped in, rescuing the orphaned puppies and providing the love, care, and medical attention they desperately needed. As Sturgeon grew stronger, his playful personality began to shine. He proved to be an intelligent, curious, and spunky Great Pyrenees mix with his whole life ahead of him. Then, just as everything seemed to be falling into place, disaster struck again. Only 10-12 weeks old, Sturgeon suddenly became ill with kennel cough. His condition deteriorated rapidly as the infection progressed into a severe case of bacterial pneumonia. He was rushed to the emergency vet, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit and placed in an oxygen chamber for three days while his medical team fought to save his life. Sturgeon required around the clock emergency care, oxygen therapy, IV medications, and constant monitoring. His tiny body was working overtime just to breathe. Thankfully, this brave little puppy never gave up. After days of intensive treatment, Sturgeon pulled through. He was determined to be well enough to leave the hospital and continue his recovery with the loving family who had just begun an adoption trial before he became sick. Sturgeon's emergency hospitalization resulted in nearly $10,000 in unexpected veterinary expenses. As a nonprofit rescue, Beagles and Bentleys never hesitates to say yes when an animal needs lifesaving care, but emergency cases like Sturgeon's place a tremendous strain on their resources. I bought Draco from a former friend when he was 8 weeks old. His older dog sister Luna passed away in January from cancer. They were always together. He has a younger sister Ginny who he now spends most time with along with 4 cat siblings. He is named after Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. He loves to be outside and loves to visit his girlfriend who lives a few doors down. I am seeking help in providing ongoing treatment for Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia (AIHA). A rare condition where they're immune system creates antibodies that destroy red blood cells faster than they can be replaced. He has had two blood transfusions and will need to vet a plasma exchange. He is currently at Tufts New England Vet. Henry and Lois Foster Hospital for Small animals in Massachusetts. Draco loves all people and animals just wants to be outside and have fun any play. He is a very sweet, loving boy and loves to cuddle. He loves his bones and pig ears and usually buries them and hides them in clothes or under pillows. He knows how to give hugs and kisses and will often try to give you a hug when he gets excited. I lost my job in September and my older dog ended up getting really sick and had Lymphoma. I spent all my money I had on her testing and treatments. She was euthanized at home in January. I just recently found a job and I'm still trying to catch up.

I’ve had Noel since she was a puppy. She was a gift to me from my late aunt.. She is a beautiful cloud of fluffy white fur that brings people joy everywhere she goes. The whole family loves her. She has been a wonderful companion to my son who is on the autism spectrum and she has been with us as we welcomed our daughter into the world. Noel came down suddenly with nausea and lethargy. We took her to the emergency vet and ran blood and urine tests. She had a uti but that was not all. We put her on antibiotics and nausea medicine but when we followed up with the regular vet the bile acid panel came back showing a liver shunt. She is on same liver support medicine in addition to the previous meds. The vet is advising surgery. Noel is the sweetest dog. She is always ready to play. Friendly and affectionate all the time. She brightens every day. It breaks our heart to see her like this. She isn’t herself with this liver shunt. The liver shunt is a blood vessel that is bypassing her liver so her liver isn’t able to filter the blood as it should. This is causing toxins to build up in her system and make her unwell. We have spent a lot unexpectedly taking her to the emergency vet, performing the blood, urine and bile acid tests and getting her the medicine she needs to ease her pain and nausea but the medicine won’t actually fix the issue. She needs surgery which we cannot afford.
