Josie

Josie is a 3 year old White English Bulldog in Columbus, OH, who needs $2,000 for Surgical & Med Mngmt; Enucleation and Daily Meds.

Columbus, OH • Stop the Suffering

* Stop the Suffering * Josie is a 3-year-old English Bulldog with a heart of gold that's in a delicate condition. Josie is looking for someone to willing to invest in her well being so her life is healthy. Josie has a heart arrhythmia that is better, but needs regular meds. She also requires seizure meds. Adopters should anticipate covering $200.00 a month on average for her medications for the foreseeable future. Josie recently had a cardiology evaluation that show she is no longer a surgery risk so she is finally being spayed and will also undergo surgery on an ulcerated eye. Josie is otherwise healthy and a very well behaved girl who loves to roam around in the yard. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her care has primarily been managed at the Cheshire Animal Hospital. She walks well on and off leash. Josie does well with other dogs, loves car rides, humans, being petted. Josie's quirks: people with hats make her nervous, loud noises like a vacuum cleaner make her run to another room, and she loves to shred trash bags if you shake them around her. She is an absolute joy in her foster home! We are a non-profit rescue group. We rescued Josie from a family who could not afford her care. As stated, she has had several consults and procedures in our care. Her medication averages at least $200 per month.

Rusty

Rusty is a 8-month-old Mixed in Webster, NY, who needs $2,000 for Surgery for Angular Limb Deformity.

Webster, NY

Rusty is the newest member of our family. We rescued him in August of 2023. He is 8 months old. We first discovered Rusty from an email sent to us by a local rescue. Valerie fell in love with his picture and I reached out to inquire about him. At that time we were told he had been adopted. About a week later we got a call from the rescue saying he was available. We adopted him the next day. Rusty loves to play with his brother, Bentley, and sister, Marcy (both rescues). He loves to run and chase a ball but we have to try to avoid that activity right now. He is a super snuggler and enjoys a good nap - especially if he is cozied up with his fellow pet buddies and his people. He is full of puppy energy, curiosity, and love. Rusty's favorite playmates are Marcy and Bentley. He likes to tease them into chasing him. He also has a surprisingly big, low, bark - which surprised us the first time we heard it. He has even made friends with the cats Finny & Fluffy. Although Finny is not 100% sure of Rusty, from time to time he runs up to him and bumps noses. It's super cute. They are working out their own language. We recently noticed Rusty's left paw turning out strangely. His vet recommended taking him to Cornell Animal Hospital. It was determined that he has an abnormal bone growth that requires surgery in order to avoid possible amputation as he ages. Because of his young age the prognosis is very good for him as long as its taken care of quickly while his growth plates are still active. We are on a fixed Soc Sec income and adopted Rusty while Valerie was going through her 2nd fight with cancer. That depleted our savings. Rusty brought a ray of sunshine into our lives during a very difficult time. Helping him grow up health and strong means everything to us.

Massimo

Massimo is a 5-year-old Brussels Griffon in San Diego, CA, who needs $2,000 for BAS Surgery.

San Diego, CA

Massimo is a spunky lil' guy that can make you magically forget all your woes the moment you see his grumpy Griffon pout and Dr. Seuss-like paws. I adopted Massimo in 2019 when he was just a 5 lb squirt. His prior living conditions were squalid and isolating where he struggled w/ giardia and poor skin/coat health. Once adopted, he quickly made a full recovery w/ an improved diet and a loving home. The moment I brought Massimo home he became family. When I lost my dad a few months later, he gave me comfort and solace in times of grieving. He will be at your ankles no matter where you go. He even insists on joining us paddleboarding on the Bay. With his big (XXS) puffy life jacket, he stands at attention on the nose of the board like the best little sea monkey captain. He is such a joy. Massimo hasn't been able to be as active the last few months, as he's been having issues breathing properly. It's been scary to see him struggle to breathe after very little activity. His vet determined that he was suffering from symptoms of Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome (BAS), which affects flat-faced breeds and causes obstruction in their windpipe and nasal airways. It worsens if not corrected. Massimo's vet specialist created a treatment plan that includes surgery to open up his nasal airway, correct the structure of his larynx, and address the soft palette obstruction in his windpipe. After he undergoes this surgical procedure, he is expected to make a full recovery and return back to an active pup w/o respiratory issues. The surgery is quoted at $6060.25 and is scheduled for 8/24/23. This procedure is challenging to afford on my own. I'm hopeful there's someone out there that understands this deep bond between a dog + their human and wants to help support the cost.

Drako

Drako is a 3-year-old Miniature Pincher in San Jose , CA, who needs $2,000 for Laminectomy.

San Jose, CA

Drako was gift to our older son Andrew during the pandemic as a graduation gift. He has been a big part of our family over the past 3 years and our entire family as grown love him so much. He lives in our home with our 5 children who enjoy his presents and had brought them to tears knowing he is in pain and may or be able to fix him. Drako loves to cuddle with family as he at times acts like human and will sleep with his head on the pillow! He love to playing fetch with his toys as well as bring the leash when he wants to go on walks. He has been the best gauged dog that barks any anyone walking up to the door! We sure miss him running to great us at the door! Drako is special to our family because he loves us and we Love him so much too. He’s full of energy and always ready to play and go on adventures with our kids! Drako has a condition called IVDD. If your Drako gets through the rehabilitation period after IVDD, his life expectancy is the same as any other dog. We have take Drako to the emergency clinic two times since June and have followed up with his Normal clinic for his condition and they have both said surgery is Drako’s only option to walk again is a very costly surgery. Our family is on fixed income and this costly surgery is out of our budget. We would love to be able to put up the funds to make Drako a healthy dog again. To be able to enjoy him playing and running around the house again and greeting us at the door when we come home!

Faith

Faith is a 10-year-old Basenji / Terrier Mix in Marietta , GA, who needs $820 for Surgery.

Marietta, GA

My children & I use to go visit Faith every weekend at the SPCA in Lakeland,Fl. We went so much to see her & play with her. An employee said that we were the only family that came to see her. Asked would we like to adopt her. So I said Yes!!! She’s been apart of our Family since February 2014. Couldn’t imagine life without her. Faith is an over friendly Basenji Terrier Mix. Faith loves to interact with everyone whose in her territory. Everyone that comes to visit falls in love with her. She brings comfort to my son when he has anxiety attacks or is depressed. Over all she’s our fur baby and protector when she needs to be. Faith body language can be read if you know her. She’s most happy when she’s out taking walks or at the dog park. She can also talk. She loves to show her jumping skills no matter how she’s feeling. Faith is so entertaining & makes you smile just by looking at her. She smiles back. With Faith all things are possible 🙏🏾 Faith has a large mass on her right lower leg(seen in photo). I have no idea how did she get it or what it is. Our veterinarian recommend that she has surgery to remove it. Faith only surgery has been to be spayed & micro chipped. I’m a single mother & I can’t afford to pay $820 at one time for Faith surgery. The clinic doesn’t take payments & I don’t qualify for Care Credit. It will meant the world to me to have Faith back to herself. So she can go out and play & enjoy life like the other dogs.

Jasper

Jasper is a 10-year-old Miniature Pinscher in Elburn, IL, who needs $2,000 for jaw surgery.

Elburn, IL

Jasper came into my life 10 years ago when he was 12 weeks old and after I lost my 3 1/2 legged Tipsy. So I guess you can say that he rescued me. When we were trying to come up with a name, my daughter was thinking something from Harry Potter. That is when I decided to name him after my favorite Twilight character. Jasper goes up stairs backwards. Jasper likes to run off but never goes far. All I have to do is set off my car alarm and he comes running back because he thinks he's going for a car ride. He sleeps in 4 places: with me...on one of his beds...in his mancave..or the laundry basket. He won't go out if it is raining because he hates to get wet, but he loves to play in the snow. His favorite foos pizza and his favorite treat is FD minnows This was an unexpected issue that I have no savings for. Jasper was my physical therapy assistant after my knee replacements(he kept me walking). It kills me that I'm unable to help him get this taken care of as soon as possible. Jasper is my best friend. Jasper has developed an aggressive tumor in his mouth that is just going to keep on growing. It is not bothering him yet but the bigger it gets it will. It could eventually become hard for him to eat or drink. He is being treated at Veterinary Dental Center. I live alone and Jasper is my world. Jasper loves my daughter, but when her husband is around nobody exists...lol. He has a "friend" Sasha. I come home from work to the BEST greetings. Then we go for a walk or to his favorite park. Jasper has 2 baskets full of toys because he gets barkbox. Sometimes we share them with his "cousins" at my daughter's. He likes to "help" with laundry dry by laying on the pile of hot clothes.
