Teddy
Pulled From the Euthanasia List, Teddy Is Fighting for His Life
Boca Raton, FL • Jess Helping Furrbabies
Just two years old, Teddy should have had his whole life ahead of him. Instead, he found himself on the county shelter's euthanasia list after becoming critically ill. His owners reported that he had accidentally ingested an unknown chemical and, after seeking initial veterinary care, were unable to afford the extensive treatment he desperately needed. With nowhere else to turn and his medical condition worsening, Teddy's future looked heartbreakingly bleak. That's when Jess Helping Furbabies stepped in. Refusing to let Teddy's story end there, the rescue pulled him from the shelter and rushed him for emergency veterinary care. While Teddy is finally safe, his fight is only beginning. Initial bloodwork revealed several alarming abnormalities, including an elevated white blood cell count, low blood glucose, and elevated kidney values, all signs that his body is battling something serious. He remains weak, depressed, and has very little interest in food. His veterinary team has ordered extensive diagnostic testing to determine exactly how much damage the unknown chemical may have caused and what treatment he needs moving forward. Teddy's caregivers are doing everything they can to encourage him to eat. So far, he's only managed a few tiny bites of food. He nibbled on a piece of chicken nugget, but not even enough to finish one. He'll take a short walk outside, but the little energy he has quickly disappears. Once back inside, he quietly returns to his bed, getting up only when absolutely necessary. His heart rate also remains dangerously low, and his veterinarians are closely monitoring him while they await the results of more advanced bloodwork that will help guide the next phase of his treatment. Despite how sick he feels, Teddy's sweet personality is still shining through. He even managed to wag his tail—a small but beautiful reminder that he's still fighting. No dog should come this close to losing their life simply because they need medical care. Jess Helping Furbabies gave Teddy the second chance he deserved, but emergency diagnostics, hospitalization, medications, supportive care, and ongoing treatment come at a significant cost. Your tax-deductible donation today will help provide the lifesaving care Teddy urgently needs. Every gift helps cover advanced diagnostics, hospitalization, medications, supportive treatment, and the continued monitoring his condition requires as veterinarians work to give him the best possible chance at recovery. Teddy is safe now. He's loved. And with your help, he can keep fighting. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing Teddy's story. Your kindness could help save his life.

Chrissy
Dumped and Forgotten, Chrissy Needs Heartworm Treatment
Boca Raton, FL • Jess Helping Furrbabies
Chrissy’s story began about two years ago on the outskirts of a plant nursery in Hialeah, Florida. One day, this tiny little dog simply appeared — alone, frightened, and carrying a large lump on her chest. The workers believe she had been dumped there. The nursery sits on property with large animals, including cows, and everyone worried that such a small dog wouldn’t survive long in that environment. Chrissy had no shelter, no proper dog food, and no one to care for her. But the kind workers at the nursery couldn’t ignore her. They did what they could to keep her alive, sharing bread and scraps whenever possible — anything to help this little dog make it through another day. For two years, Chrissy survived this way. She quietly lived on the property, doing her best to stay safe and hoping someone would eventually help her. Recently, the workers finally reached out for help because they knew Chrissy deserved more than just survival. She deserves safety, proper veterinary care, and the chance to finally know what it feels like to be someone’s beloved dog. Chrissy is now safe with Jess Helping Furrbabies Rescue, but during her veterinary exam we discovered she is heartworm positive — a serious and potentially life-threatening condition that requires months of careful treatment. As a senior dog, Chrissy already faces a harder path to adoption. Heartworm treatment makes her journey even more challenging, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve the same chance at health, comfort, and happiness as any other dog. And despite everything she has been through, Chrissy remains incredibly gentle. She is a quiet, well-behaved, and very sweet little dog who simply wants to feel safe. She’s calm, reserved, and grateful for kindness — the kind of dog who just wants a soft bed, gentle hands, and someone who cares about her. After two long years of simply surviving, Chrissy finally has a chance at a real life.. Your donation will help cover Chrissy’s heartworm treatment, veterinary care, and recovery, giving her the opportunity to finally experience comfort, stability, and the love she has gone without for so long. Please consider donating and sharing Chrissy’s story. Even senior dogs with medical needs deserve a second chance. 7/16/26 Update Thanks to your help, Chrissy was able to receive the heartworm treatment she so desperately needed, and we're thrilled to report that she is doing great! After spending nearly two years simply trying to survive alone at a plant nursery, Chrissy is finally experiencing the care, comfort, and security she has always deserved. Her heartworm treatment is behind her, and she is recovering beautifully. Chrissy continues to show everyone what a special little dog she is. She remains the same gentle, quiet, and loving senior who is grateful for every soft bed, kind touch, and moment of affection. It's been amazing to watch her leave survival mode behind and begin enjoying the life she should have had all along. Your support made this transformation possible. Because of your donations, Chrissy received the lifesaving medical care she needed and now has the opportunity to look forward to a healthier, happier future. From all of us at Jess Helping Furrbabies Rescue—and especially from Chrissy—thank you for believing that senior dogs are worth saving. Your compassion gave this sweet girl the second chance she had been waiting years to receive.
