Prinz

Prinz is a 5 year old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for Back Surgery.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

Little Paws Dachshund Rescue Five-year-old Prinz's owners took him to the vet to be euthanized after being diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). They didn't want to spend the money on surgery, nor care for a paralyzed dog, so euthanasia it was. Thankfully, the vet knew Prinz was not a lost cause and that IVDD is not a death sentence. The vet convinced the owners to surrender Prinz to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue. Little Paws got Prinz scheduled for surgery, but the neurologist became very concerned as she was about to operate. Not only had Prinz lost function of his hind, his loss of sensation was creeping up his spine to his ribcage. She told them the worst possibility: Prinz's spinal cord may be dead from his accident, but with no medical intervention, he would soon lose all bodily functions and die. They then needed to conduct an MRI, which showed a bad lower disc rupture AND an old upper disc rupture. It also showed that Prinz's spinal cord is very much alive! Little Paws wanted to try giving this sweet little one a chance at walking again and alleviating some of his deep pain, so they moved forward with the surgery. Prinz is now in his foster home recovering with lots of love. They are waiting for signs of him walking again. Little Paws will continue to monitor his recovery and spoil him with love. Please consider donating to support Prinz's medical journey!

Moses

Moses is a 10 year old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $1,800 for Medical for His Heart Murmur + Senior Medical Care.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

Little Paws Dachshund Rescue Moses, a sweet, cuddly senior dachshund, is estimated to be around 10 years old. He came to LPDR from a shelter where he was very scared and needed to be moved to a foster home immediately. We quickly discovered that Moses had a significant heart murmur and needed to be evaluated by a cardiologist. The cardiologist graded the murmur at a 4 and also wants Moses to get an echo before he can undergo his neuter and a dental that he desperately needs. All of the funds raised by this campaign will go directly to Moses' vetting! Mission LITTLE PAWS DACHSHUND RESCUE is an East Coast-based 501(c)3 exempt nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of our favorite short-legged breed. We specialize in finding permanent homes for dachshund and dachshund mixes. We strive to make the lives of all dogs better through action, advocacy, awareness, and education. It is LPDR’s goal to identify abandoned, mistreated, or homeless dogs and oversee their treatment and well-being while working to find loving owners for those in our care.

Junie

Junie is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $867 for Spay/Dental.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

Junie is a 12-year-old Dachshund who was surrendered to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue along with five other dogs. Junie's life has been one of neglect, and it's clear that she hasn't received proper medical care. She is now in a loving LPDR foster home and we are trying to get her the care she desperately needs. Tragically, Junie's daughter passed away on the first night in their foster home, a grim reminder of the urgent need for veterinary care. Junie is still fighting, but needs our help. She appears to be sad since the passing of her daughter and we want to do everything we can to help her, physically and emotionally. We don't know much about Junie right now since she just got to Little Paws Dachshund Rescue, but we hope that with some time in her foster home, and receiving the veterinary care she needs, she will start to perk up and blossom in a loving, caring environment. So far, we have discovered that she is a total sweetheart and loves to snuggle. Junie is in dire need of medical attention. She needs to be spayed, and her teeth are in terrible shape. She is also suffering from a digestive issue that is causing blood in her stool. Without medical intervention, Junie's quality of life will continue to deteriorate, and she will suffer. We want to do everything we can for this sweet girl! We currently have 37 dogs in Little Paws Dachshund Rescue foster homes, and our goal is always to be able to provide these deserving pups with everything they need..

Tootsie

Tootsie is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

When Tootsie was saved by Little Paws Dachshund Rescue, the stakes were high. The sweet girl was a medical mess! And Tootsie was part of a bonded pair; her adoring other half, Snickers, would have been heartbroken to lose his best pal. "Tootsie came to Little Paws with her mate, Snickers," Julie J., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "Both had been medically neglected for years; Tootsie, however, has been most affected. Because she was never spayed, she came to us with a large mammary tumor that was cancerous. The tumor was removed at the time of her spay. Tootsie developed a very serious infection at her abdominal incision site." On top of all that, Tootsie also required dental surgery because she had horrible teeth and needs heartworm treatment. Her medical team at Best Friends Animal Hospital in Gaithersburg, MD, takes great care of her. Little Paws is an East Coast-based nonprofit dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of Dachshund and Dachshund mixes, and the organization depends on donations to help dogs with medical needs. The good news is that Tootsie is becoming more mobile and is getting stronger. When she was rescued, her foster mom had to hand feed her, but now she can eat on her own. The plan is to continue her wound care treatment, and once she has healed enough, her veterinarian can begin treating her heartworm. With your help, Tootsie's future will be brighter. And that not only makes the rescue happy, Tootsie, Snickers, and their foster mom will be thrilled too! "Tootsie adores her mate, Snickers, and looks to her for comfort," Julie says. "She is a total sweetheart and just wants to be loved back. Our goal as a rescue is to show Tootsie the care she deserves and prepare her for a forever family that will continue her journey of love and happiness."

Coco

Coco is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for dental surgery and tests.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

When Little Paws Dachshund Rescue heard about two senior dogs, Coco and Maxi, who were dumped at a shelter it broke their hearts. "Both are in horrible condition, believed to have been living outside as they were filthy," Julie J. with the rescue tells Waggle. The group wasted no time and launched a mission to save the bonded pair. First, they found a foster home where the dogs could stay together. Then the rescue discovered that both Coco and Maxi need veterinarian care immediately. Coco is scheduled for blood work and dental surgery at Paws and Claws Animal Clinic. Though Coco and Maxi have health issues, they are so excited to be out of the animal shelter and together. "Coco is very dependent on his partner and loves to snuggle beside him," Julie says. "After only one day in his foster home, Coco is adjusting and even wagging his tail. He is happy to be in a safe, loving foster home." Little Paws Dachshund Rescue is a nonprofit group that helps provide medical care for all the dogs the group saves. They rely solely on donations and hope Waggle's generous community of pet lovers will help this senior pair so they can be adopted together and live happily ever after.

Maxi

Maxi is a 12-year-old Dachshund in College Park, MD, who needs $2,000 for urgent medical care.

College Park, MD • Little Paws Dachshund Rescue

Poor Maxi was scared to death! This senior dog, who is nearly blind, got dumped at an animal shelter with another Dachshund named Coco. When Little Paws Dachshund Rescue heard about this bonded pair in need, they said: Let's get them out right away and keep the two together! They found a wonderful foster home for Maxi and Coco but soon discovered the dogs were filthy and needed medical care immediately. The rescue is taking the dogs to Paws and Claws Animal Clinic. "We believe this senior (Maxi) has cataracts and is at least partially blind. He will need lab work, dental care and has to be neutered," Julie J. with the rescue tells Waggle. While the rescue works to fix them up, they will stay in their foster home as an inseparable pair. "They are happy to have a safe place to rest and snuggle," Julie says. Little Paws Dachshund Rescue depends on donations to help pay for challenging medical cases. Can you help Maxi, so he lives a new life where his best years are yet to come?
