This adorable dachshund needs your help
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
Sweet Clementine, a long-haired Dachshund mix, came to Safe Haven Rescue in critical condition—underweight, weak, and in excruciating pain. Even though she’s now recovering, Clementine still has a long road ahead. Her tiny body is frail, but her spirit is strong— she’s already showing gratitude with gentle tail wags and soft eyes full of hope. This rescue urgently needs your help covering her surgery and ongoing medical care so Clementine can heal and finally live free from pain. 💛 Please consider donating to support Clementine’s recovery today. Every dollar, no matter the amount, brings her closer to the happy, healthy life she deserves. Thank you.

Clementine
Clementine is a 5 year old Dachshund in Monticello, MS, who needs $747 for Cystotomy, Surgery, Bloodwork, Radiography, Meds.
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
Poor Clementine had an owner who couldn't provide the care she needed and gave her away. The person who took her realized it was going to be costly to save her That is when she came to our rescue and received her new name, Clementine. A new beginning to forget the past & the pain. She knew she was safe and we would do all we can to save her. Clementine not only has a bad UTI, she had 2 very large bladder stones taking up her tiny frail frame & entire bladder. She required emergency surgery, but at 6# and underweight and malnourished, the risk was high. But we were left with no choice. The vet team at Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven did amazing helping Clementine. Clementine has shown her affection and appreciation with snuggles, kisses and lots of love. She is showing resilience and trust, despite the pain she was in for so long. Her tiny body (only weighing 6#) just melts in our arms as she looks at us with her loving eyes. Clementine deserves the opportunity to live pain free. She will thrive with each day as she feels better, having the bladder stones gone. We look forward to the day she can play, run, and be a happy little dog. Emergency surgery was costly, but needed to save her life

Champion
Champion’s Story: From Chains to Hope
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
Champion was discovered in his own backyard, but it was far from being a true home. He was cruelly bound in chains and rope, left to suffer alone. At only four months old, he had been denied everything a puppy deserves: food, safety, comfort, and love. Ravaged by mange, weak from hunger, and covered in wounds, he had been discarded like trash by the very people meant to protect him. Thankfully, a passerby spotted him and called authorities, who then got in contact with Safe Haven Rescue of MS. Now safely under the care of Safe Haven Rescue of MS, Champion is being treated by the dedicated team at Animal Medical Center. His tiny body is still fighting to recover from the trauma: severe demodex mange, open sores from the chains, and dangerous infections brought on by neglect. He arrived malnourished, dehydrated, and in critical condition, but thanks to IV fluids, antibiotics, and careful monitoring, he’s finally stabilizing. He’s not out of the woods yet, but for the first time in his life, he’s getting the care he so badly needs. Despite the pain he’s endured, Champion is the definition of resilience. His tail now wags with excitement, and his eyes shine with gratitude. He melts into gentle hands, his body finally relaxing into comfort. He’s free from the chains that once held him back and he knows it. But one serious concern remains: he still has no feeling in one of his legs. It’s unclear whether it can be saved, and we’re working closely with our vet team to explore every option. Champion’s journey has already inspired so many, but he still has a long way to go and he can’t do it alone. His care is extensive, and vet bills are rising fast. Please consider donating to support Champion’s recovery. Every dollar brings us closer to healing his body and giving him the future he’s always deserved: one filled with love, safety, and second chances. Update 05/12 Champion has been recovering in a foster home and his case is promising! At first recovery was very slow and we were not holding out too much hope the leg could be saved. Thanks to his wonderful foster and vet care though, Champion has begun to use the leg more and more each day. He is running and playing in the backyard and loves to go for walks! His care is ongoing, but we are just so thankful to see this improvement. Please consider helping Champ during his recovery.

Forest
Forest is a 18 year old Poodle in Monticello, MS, who needs $800 for Forest Emergency Amputation for Back Limb.
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
Forest has beat the odds of SO MUCH in his life. From being found in the woods, to being spoiled rotten. Then, being attacked & paralyzed, to learning how to spinal walk. He has even faced his blindness with loving sounds and touches. Then the day came when his owner was no longer there for him. His whole world was gone. His momma passed away unexpectedly, and Forest was faced with euthanasia. This past week, Forest somehow got himself in a rough situation. Laying in his kennel, in his favorite bed, he had shredded and tangled his paralyzed back legs. One to the point of it completely killing his leg. It wasn't until it swelled and turned black & rotten that we knew there was NO saving it. He was rushed to Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven Mississippi for emergency surgery Forest may look old & "decrepit", as we hear all too often, but he is loved. His snuggles will melt your heart. His soft bark for your attention, and him following my voice, ensures he knows he is not alone. Each night I sing a special song dedicated to Forest, and he knows it is just for him. He settles ever so softly in our arms. He loves as much as we love him. As with any unexpected emergency, it can cause financial hardship to ensure covering the vet bill. For rescues, it is equally difficult. Dedicated to help and always do the best for each dog, even Forest needed our immediate care. He loves life & is worth saving.

Turbo
Turbo is a 14 month old Chihuahua in Monticello, MS, who needs $1,200 for Double Amputation and ER Care.
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
* Safe Haven Rescue of MS * A small chihuahua mix found himself trapped and somehow managed to pull himself free. But, with that came some horrific injuries. One rear leg torn and the other leg left damaged. He was picked up & sent to a high kill shelter. Pleas for help came before his hour of euthanasia. We decided he needed life saving measures and a chance to survive Naming him Turbo, he went to our rescue vet. Turbo is under the care of Dr Howell at Animal Medical Center, where he has been kept on antibiotics for his injuries. He also had to undergo a small procedure to remove the one rear foot as it was severely damaged. Both rear legs, now wrapped as nubs, are proving to be a challenge for Turbo. He continues to self-mutilate, so major surgery is required next. Turbo is new into our rescue, however he has shown both gratitude and love, despite his pain. He is a favorite at the vet office, and loves to be shown affection. Turbo is young; resilient, and loving, despite the horrors he has endured Turbo's emergency care, medications, & upcoming surgery for a double amputation is extremely costly. Especially for a small rescue, such as ours. We are dedicated to help the injured, and do all we can to provide the necessary care to give them a 2nd chance.

Emersyn
Emersyn is a 2.5 month old Dachshund in Monticello, MS, who needs $962 for Double Leg Amputation.
Monticello, MS • Safe Haven Rescue of MS
The sadness in her eyes, the pain in her body, this small 10# puppy was clinging to life in a ditch. Covered in flies, botts, and even maggots coming OUT of her body. Emersyn was bathed to see the extent on her injuries and remove the annoying insects that were eating her alive. Then taken directly to our local ER vet, Animal Medical Center for care, with Dr Watson for Safe Haven Rescue of MS Knowing the extent of the injuries & the cost to "help" would be substantial. Again, this is where most would take the "easy way out " due to costs and euthanize. We at Safe Haven Rescue of MS will ALWAYS put life above money. Dr said there is NO way to repair either of her back legs, but amputation would still give her life. Dr Watson at Animal Medical Center in Brookhaven MS is her Dr. Emersyn dragged her tiny body, tearing up her underside and leaving open sores & wounds for the insects to attack. How she ended up in the ditch where she was found, we will never know. But thankfully she was found..... alive! Thanks to her sister, Brina, she kept her close to find help. Emersyn loves every dog she meets and wants to play as a typical puppy, despite her injuries & surgical care Major surgery & ER care come with a high price We have no idea how we will cover these procedures, but we couldn't leave Emersyn in her condition indefinitely. We are asking for help from our community, our state, our followers, and animal lovers to help Emersyn.
