Piper
Saved From the Kill Pen, Piper Is Finally Safe. Now She Needs a Fresh Start
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
Piper's future was hanging by a thread. At an estimated 8 to 10 years old, this gentle miniature horse found herself in a kill pen, where her life could have ended at any moment. Instead of spending her golden years surrounded by love and care, Piper was facing an uncertain fate through no fault of her own. Thankfully, Winter's Grace Animal Rescue stepped in just in time. Now safe from the slaughter pipeline, Piper is beginning the next chapter of her life—but her journey to recovery is just getting started. When Piper arrived at the rescue, it was clear she had been neglected. She is underweight and needs comprehensive veterinary care to help restore her health. Before she can truly begin to thrive, Piper will undergo a complete medical evaluation, receive her core vaccinations, have her teeth floated to make eating more comfortable, receive a Coggins test, and be treated for any medical conditions discovered during her examination, including possible upper respiratory issues or other illnesses that may have gone untreated. For horses like Piper, routine veterinary care isn't a luxury—it's the foundation for a healthy future. Years of neglect can leave hidden medical issues that only a veterinarian can identify and treat. With proper nutrition, medical care, and plenty of love, Piper has every opportunity to regain her strength and enjoy the peaceful life she deserves. Winter's Grace Animal Rescue gave Piper the second chance she so desperately needed. Now they're asking for your help to give her the care she deserves. Your tax-deductible donation will help cover Piper's veterinary examination, vaccinations, dental care, Coggins testing, diagnostics, medications, and any treatment she needs as she begins her recovery. Every gift, no matter the size, brings Piper one step closer to good health and the safe, comfortable future she's been waiting for. Piper escaped the kill pen. Together, we can make sure the rest of her story is filled with kindness, healing, and hope. If you're unable to donate, please consider sharing Piper's story. Your support could help give this deserving girl the fresh start she's fought so hard to receive.

Bentley and Lola
Neglected, Overbred, and Sick—Help This Mother and Son Survive
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
When Bentley and Lola were rescued, it was hard to tell where their suffering ended and their bodies began. Their fur was so severely matted that their ears were lost beneath layers of tight, painful knots. Every movement must have pulled at their skin. Every day they lived like that was a day of silent pain. We believe Lola, around five years old, is Bentley’s mother. Bentley is just about two. In those short years, their lives have been defined by neglect, fear, and survival—not comfort, not safety, and certainly not love. Neither dog was used to human contact. When they were first handled, their fear was overwhelming. They bite—not out of aggression, but out of pure terror. It’s the only way they know how to protect themselves in a world that has never been kind to them. And as if their past wasn’t enough, both Bentley and Lola tested heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is life-threatening. It slowly damages the heart and lungs and, without treatment, it will take their lives. Both dogs will require the same course of treatment, and the cost for each is significant—but necessary to give them a future. Lola’s story carries another quiet heartbreak. She has had multiple litters of puppies, her body used over and over again. We may never know how many. What we do know is that those days are over. She will never have to endure that again. Now, for the first time, Bentley and Lola have a chance—not just to survive, but to heal. But healing won’t be easy. It will take time, patience, and consistent care to help them learn that they are safe. That hands don’t have to hurt. That the world can be gentle. Your donation will go directly toward their heartworm treatment and ongoing medical care. It will give them the chance to recover physically while we work to help them heal emotionally. Bentley and Lola have only ever had each other. Now they need someone to stand up for them. Please donate today and help give this mother and son the life they were always denied.

Rambo
From Dirt Pen to Hope: Help Rambo Heal from Heartworm
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
Rambo is everything you would hope a dog could be—sweet, affectionate, and full of life. Despite everything he’s been through, his spirit is still bright, his tail still wags, and he still believes in people. But Rambo’s past tells a very different story. He was rescued from a place where dogs were treated as an afterthought—kept outside in a dirt pen, sometimes crammed four at a time into a single crate. He had never known comfort, never felt soft grass under his paws, never experienced the simple joys that every dog deserves. When he was finally brought to safety, his fur was painfully matted, a physical reflection of the neglect he had endured for so long. And then came another blow—Rambo tested heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is serious and life-threatening if left untreated. It slowly damages the heart and lungs, robbing dogs of the energy and life they deserve. For a dog like Rambo—who is so full of love and vitality—it’s especially heartbreaking. But there is hope. With proper treatment, Rambo can recover. He can run freely, breathe easily, and continue to be the joyful, loving dog he was always meant to be. He has already come so far—now he just needs help to finish his journey to a healthy life. Your donation will go directly toward Rambo’s heartworm treatment and medical care. Every dollar brings him closer to healing and ensures that his past does not define his future. Rambo has already experienced his firsts—his first time on grass, his first time feeling safe, his first time being truly cared for. Now, let’s give him another first: a life free from pain. Please donate today to help Rambo get the treatment he urgently needs and the future he has always deserved.

Knox and Jett
Two Brothers, One Second Chance: Help Knox & Jett Beat Heartworm
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
Knox and Jett have spent their entire lives side by side. These five-year-old brothers came from a home where love was limited and human interaction was almost nonexistent. Their world was small, quiet, and unfamiliar with kindness—and now, everything is changing all at once. Because they were never socialized, Knox and Jett are understandably terrified. Being touched or picked up is overwhelming for them. They don’t show aggression—they don’t bite—but their fear is so intense that they urinate or defecate when handled. It’s not behavior—it’s pure fear. And despite that fear, they are allowing us to help them. Now, on top of everything they’ve endured, both brothers have tested heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is painful, progressive, and ultimately fatal if left untreated. These boys deserve a chance not just to survive—but to finally experience comfort, safety, and care for the first time in their lives. They’ve already begun the first critical steps in treatment: \- ProHeart injection - Steroid injection to reduce inflammation - 30 days of doxycycline After this initial phase, they will need to wait 30 days before beginning the life-saving injections that will kill the heartworms. Each dog’s full treatment is estimated at $550, bringing the total to $1,100 for both brothers. There is also a third brother still waiting. Once we are able to safely bring him in and test him, we are prepared to help him too—if he is heartworm positive, he will need the same urgent care. Knox and Jett didn’t choose this life. They didn’t choose isolation, fear, or illness. But they are choosing—quietly, bravely—to trust us anyway. Now they need people to choose them. Your donation will go directly toward their heartworm treatment and give these brothers the chance to heal—physically and emotionally. With time, patience, and care, dogs like Knox and Jett can learn that the world is not something to fear. They just need that chance. Please donate today and help Knox and Jett take their first steps toward a life they’ve never known.

Isabella
Meet Isabella — a tiny fighter with a huge heart
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
When baby Isabella arrived at Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue, she had already endured more than any kitten should. She was missing an eye, and the delicate area had reopened and become painfully inflamed. On top of that, she was struggling with an upper respiratory infection that made every breath a challenge. But even through all of this, Isabella never stopped purring. Our team acted quickly to get her the urgent care she needed. Her eye area required immediate medical correction, and her respiratory infection needed prompt treatment to help her breathe comfortably again. Thanks to fast intervention, this brave little girl is finally healing and starting to thrive. Now, Isabella is blossoming into the bright, spirited kitten she was always meant to be. She plays, she cuddles, and she reminds us daily why rescue work matters. But as a small, foster-based rescue, Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue depends entirely on community support—and Isabella’s urgent care has created a significant financial strain. Your donation will help us cover Isabella’s treatment and continue saving animals just like her. Every dollar makes an enormous difference for our tiny rescue and for kittens who need urgent care and compassion. 1/7/26 Update Isabella is doing wonderfully and continues to show us just how resilient she is. She’s blossomed into a loving, affectionate kitten who now seeks out attention and even gives sweet kisses. Recently, Isabella needed another revision on her eye after the area wasn’t healing as expected. The site was carefully sewn again, and she was started on additional medication to support healing. While her delayed healing remains a mystery, her current stitches are still in place and she’s being closely monitored. Despite these setbacks, Isabella remains playful, cuddly, and full of spirit. However, the added surgery, medications, and testing have increased her medical costs. Please consider donating to help cover Isabella’s ongoing care. Every dollar makes a difference for this brave girl telling her story — and for the kittens who will need our help next. 1/17/26 Update We have the happiest news to share about sweet Isabella! Yesterday, Isabella had her stitches removed — and the vet is thrilled with how everything looks. Her eye has healed up beautifully. There is no more pain, nothing left exposed, and no signs of complications. After everything this tiny girl has endured, it’s incredible to finally say that she appears to be fully healed. And her personality? Absolutely shining. Isabella is affectionate, confident, and full of love. She seeks out attention, reaches out to gently smack us when we walk by, and when she’s held, she snuggles right into your neck — sometimes even drooling a little in pure kitten bliss. Despite her rough start, she’s grown into a joyful, playful, deeply loving kitten who clearly knows she’s safe now. While Isabella’s medical journey has come to a beautiful close, the cost of her care — including multiple surgeries, medications, and follow-up visits — has been significant for our small, foster-based rescue. 💗 Please consider donating to help cover Isabella’s medical expenses and support Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue. Your generosity not only helped Isabella heal, but also allows us to say “yes” to the next kitten who needs urgent care, compassion, and a chance at a healthy future.

Lily
Meet Lily — a gentle young bunny hoping for a fresh start
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
Lily is a soft, sweet, one-year-old rabbit whose loving nature captures hearts instantly. She adores being held, snuggled, and doted on—she’s the kind of bun who melts into your arms and makes you feel lucky just to know her. But like every rescued animal, Lily deserves proper medical care to ensure she can grow into a healthy, happy adult. Unfortunately, where we live, exotic veterinarians are extremely limited—there’s only one vet in the area able to treat rabbits. That means her care is not only essential, but also expensive. Lily needs a comprehensive vet exam, vaccines, and to be spayed. This essential care is a significant expense for Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue, a small foster-based rescue doing everything it can with limited resources. Your support can change Lily’s entire future. By donating, you’re helping ensure she receives the care every rabbit deserves but so many never get. With your help, Lily can heal, grow, and eventually find the loving forever home she’s dreaming of.

Cranberry
Meet Cranberry — a tiny ferret with a huge will to live
greenville, NC • Winter's Grace Animal Rescue
When a kind Good Samaritan reached out about a little ferret who had been abandoned and left without care, we didn’t hesitate. That ferret was Cranberry—a gentle, 3-year-old girl whose soft spirit shines through despite the pain she’s been enduring for far too long. Cranberry is suffering from untreated adrenal disease, a condition that causes her hormones to spiral out of balance. Her genitals are severely swollen, she’s losing hair, and she’s clearly uncomfortable. Yet she still leans in for affection, trusting humans again even after being left behind. Right now, Cranberry urgently needs a life-saving adrenal implant, a comprehensive vet exam, and and updated vaccines. These costs are more than our little rescue can absorb alone. Your donation today can bring this sweet girl relief from pain and give her the chance at the healthy, happy life she deserves. As a small, foster-based rescue, Winter’s Grace Animal Rescue relies entirely on community support to save animals like Cranberry. We don’t have a facility, paid staff, or large funding sources—just a handful of dedicated fosters doing everything they can with what they have
