Lilith

Lilith came to my home after I moved to Florida from up north. I was alone here in FL and was looking for a friend. I went to a rescue and was looking for a kitten, but I heard a crash and looked over to see Lilith on the ground... She had fallen off the kitchen counter and didn't land on her feet... Turns out she had been abused by her previous adopter... So of course I decided to adopt! Lilith is a very happy kitty. She enjoys toy mice, laps, soft beds, and wet food. Her best friend is her 65lbs doggy sibling and she would rather have a good nap in your lap than anything else. Well... Except eat. She LOVES to eat. She eats, on average, 4 cans of 5 oz of wet food a day. She's got a hearty appetite. Lilith is one of the most sweet cats you'll ever meet. I lost my job of 7 years due to COVID 6 months ago. I found another job but at 1/8 the income. My other cat recently had to be let go after suffering from CKD and despite IV fluids and an ultrasound his bloodwork got worse. Lilith was my first cat in FL. She's my life... On Wednesday 04/14/2021 Lilith started to drool. The next day there was a little blood in the drool. She was seen at the Harmony Vet Care Tampa on Saturday the 17th of April and diagnosed with grade 4/4 dental disease and in need of almost full mouth extractions and an oral mass removal/biopsy. During this time she has never stopped eating like a champ! Lilith is a very special cat. She was severely abused by her original adopter. She was kicked so hard in the head she developed a brain bleed and subsequent brain damage. Thus, she is a very special gal! She's very clumsy and quite the space cadet. She will get zoomies and throw toys around the house randomly. With no rhyme or reason and never at the same time!
Whitey

I rescued Whitey 8 years ago. She was abandoned on the street and I took her in. She has kept me company for the past 8 years and has been my companion. She is intelligent and responds to me when I whistle or call her name. The vet did not expect her to survive and I was very worried. She sleeps with me everynight. My cat sleeps with me on one side and my dog sleeps on the other side. She is very attached to me but does not like strangers. She sleeps a lot and likes to chase after her ball. She can make her ball jump in the air so that she can chase after it. I play with her and the ball and she loves it. She also loves to get scratched. I am a senior on fixed SSI income. I paid $500 out of pocket but I cannot afford to pay anymore. I need to raise that money because I was promised that I would be refunded but I was not. My primary concern is to take care of this bill. Any contribution is greatly appreciated She was hospitalized at Laurel Pet Canyon Hospital because she jaundiced and she was not eating or drinking. She was placed on IV for two days. She was released because she bounced back and returned to her normal self. The fact that she bounced back means a lot to me. I was very concerned for her life due to the vet's prognosis. My cat is special because she is pretty, intelligent, and responds to her name and to my whistle. She comes right away and likes to be scratched and loved. She stays on the premises and keeps me company. She has a second lease on life because the vet did not expect her to make it. She has been my companion for many years.
Miller

Back in December of 2012, I was living in Austin, Texas and attending school. Miller came into my life when he was found abandoned in a field and taken to a rescue. I was with my then wife at the time. We divorced in 2017 and he has been with me ever since. I am currently living in my hometown of Pittsburgh where I moved about 3 years ago. Miller loves to play! He has a ton of plush toys which are his favorite. He has dinosaur, hedge hog, llama, hot dog, dragon...and he knows them pretty well. He loves going on long walks in the park and playing chuck it with the tennis ball. He is very loving and sleeps in bed, at my feet, every night. He loves people and makes friends with everyone he meets! Between my divorce & Covid-19, I have been faced with unexpected financial insecurity. I am a freelance theatre artist who supplements my income with restaurant work & teaching. Covid has shut down theatre and the restaurant business. In the fall of 2020, Miller had surgery to remove an anal gland which had a small growth. The biopsy revealed Anal Sac Gland Adenocarcinomas, an aggressive cancer that can often spread to other areas. His first follow up ultra sound was negative. His second ultrasound on April 8th revealed a new growth on his lymph node. He requires abdominal surgery and 4 to 6 sessions of chemotherapy. Miller is very smart. He knows if I am not feeling well or having a bad day. He gets extra close and to me and often lick my face or ears to comfort. He is ALWAYS starving which makes him cause a bit of mischief as he tries to sneak bites of food from my plate. My vet always said, "don't let him be a beagle or else he will be 500 pounds." So he is on a good diet and gets plenty of treats!
Rex
Rex is a 9-year-old Chihuahua mix in Portland , OR, who needs $2,000 for tight-rope surgery.

Rex was adopted by my mom as a therapy dog when he was a pup. When he was 4, I stayed with my parents to take care of my dad, in his final days, and Rex was a huge source of comfort to me. The next year, Rex was having trouble with Mom's other dogs, and I was grieving, and dealing with PTSD. I needed Rex, and he needed away from there, so I adopted Rex, and he's my therapy dog now. My best buddy. Rex is a playful little guy, but also a big fan of cuddles and long naps. I'm his number one go-too for cuddles, but he also enjoys naps with my husband, his "dad," and with each of my children. He always knows when one of us needs comfort, and will come right away for pets and a snuggle to help us feel better. Rex is such a precious, adorable little friend, and we are so lucky to have him! In 2019, we were evicted from our apartment. We had nowhere to go but my mom's. We need a place of our own, but I am out of work, on disability. My husband is working hard to find us one. We are barely scraping by, but we love our dog, and need to get his surgery. I took Rex and my daughters to a park to run and play a couple of days ago. We weren't there for long before he ran a couple hundred yards away, then came back limping- he won't put his right, rear leg on the ground. Dr. Becky Marks, at Timberland Clinic, took am X-ray of Rex's knee, and he has ruptured his CCL. He will require surgery very soon. Rex is super attached to me, his "Momma," and wants to go anywhere I go- including the bathroom! He has a crooked snoot, which is so endearing and goofy, and a darker line of fur under his nose that makes it look like he has a mustache. It's super cute! Rex loves to run and run, and makes such a huge, silly grin whenever he gets a chance to run off-leash. His favorite treat is a cooked egg.
Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is a wonderful 5 yr old Shar-pei we got as a puppy. We got him a few months after our other Shar-pei passed away. About a year later our daughter adopted his mom so, they see each other often. Last year my other daughter adopted his sister so they all get to play together often. 2 yrs ago we went to a shelter and adopted another shar-pei that was cross eyed. Indiana loves to sit out on the front porch. He is out there winter and summer loves to watch the cars go by. He has has friends who come past to see him outside. He is very independent and likes his own space. He has taken over our granddaughters bed as his favorite bed. He loves his walk everyday and will remind us if we forget. He is a Mama's boy and will sit by me now that he is hurt. We are retired on a fixed income. We have been to 3 vets so far in 7 weeks and have paid a lot to diagnose the problem. Indy is visibly in pain and limping. It breaks my heart to see him try to get up steps and be in constant pain. We are trying to get him the best help Indy went for a walk with my husband and they were attacked by a stray dog and in the tussle, he was tore his ACL in his back leg. We went to one vet to diagnose the problem. Then we were sent to an orthopedic surgeon that charges $4000.00. We did some research and found a surgeon that will perform a less invasive surgery for about $1500.00 at White Oak Vet. Over $1000. so far in visits Indy is a bit of a loner and doesn't much like toys but he loves his bone treats. He is good when his dog friends come over but 5 minutes later he wants to go outside. He has the most beautiful light brown eyes and curly tail and the shar- pei black tongue. When he was young I started to give him a massage at night to get him used to being touched on his legs and paws and he still loves that.
Trinity

One Christmas 6 years ago, Trinity came to me at 6 weeks old, the runt of the litter and unwanted. Our family likes to tell me I saved her, but the reality is she saved me. We have been living together every since that Christmas day, in Fairbanks, Alaska. I fell on hard times and do my best to provide for her, sacrificing sometimes myself in order to make her as comfortable and happy as possible. Trinity is extremely loving with everyone in the household and out in public. She has the most genuinely happy and outgoing personality. She loves to make sure everyone is okay, if you're sitting still for too long she will be sure to come over for some pets and loving. She is my sunshine every day and is always sure to make me smile through play and pets. Recently, my gallbladder exploded. I passed out from the rupture. My life was saved by Trinity, who woke me up in time to call 911. I underwent surgery, and now have bills I can't pay for myself. She saved my life, all I want now is for her life to be what she deserves. For the past few weeks Trinity had been shaking her head. I felt horrible for her but had no money to pay for help. Her ear couldn't take it anymore and expanded to the size of a baseball. Not knowing what could be done, I drove to Chena Veterinary Clinic, where they accepted Trinity for care, knowing they would not receive payment. They preformed emergency surgery on her ear, and follow up care. Trinity's facial expressions are priceless. She uses her eyebrows and smile to tell me what she's thinking. She is so bright, literally she can open doors. Sometimes, she sits and watches the world, appearing very wise and omniscient. Her ways of communicating and living bring such joy to my heart, and to everyone who crosses her path.
Thunder

My name is Thunder. I am 7 years old. My birthday is around August 2013. My cat mom left me behind on the concrete parking lot, exposed to the Daytona Beach sunshine. That's when my human dad, Dusty, found me. I was only a couple days old. My eyes weren't open yet. I weighed 0.5 pounds. My odds of survival were slim. But with 24/7 care and a ton of hard work, my parents gave me a chance at life. I have 4 cat siblings. But let's be real, I only like one and his name is Chomper. I am king of the house so I get special privileges. I only like to get brushed by my mom, never by Dusty. I show love and affection to Dusty, but my world revolves around my mom. I sometimes enjoy my belly rubbed, but also only by my mom. I am smart, as I've learned to sit at the dinner table and eat like a human. I started a new full time job 2 weeks ago after leaving a major Charlotte hospital where I was a covid front line worker in the ER and covid units.I was furloughed from 36 to 24 hours in April 2019 and was at 30 when I left. Dusty lost 10% of his hourly pay about a year ago. Thunder's treatment began 10/2019 for chronic elevated liver enzymes and icterus.He's had 8 vet visits, 4 nights in the hospital, 2 abdominal ultrasounds. We were referred to a vet for internal medicine service.We discovered he now has diabetes due to long term steroid use, but that can go into remission.We need an ultrasound guided needle aspiration of his liver/bile to test infectious diseases. Thunder is friendly and affectionate towards new faces. He loves to cuddle under the blankets. When Thunder was just a couple weeks old, he started laying on my pillow, nestled in my hair. To this day, he still lays on my pillow/head as I sleep. Thunder's favorite hang out spot with me is the bathroom. He gets fresh flowing water from the sink/my hands. Thunder loves to rub his face against mine.
Peaches

Peaches, the comeback cat, needs your help. After facing nearly insurmountable health issues and surviving, she now has a suspicious growth in her mouth that needs to be removed as soon as possible. When One by One Animal Advocates first rescued Peaches this Spring, they were horrified by her condition. She had a massive infection that started around her eye. "We were just stunned. The entire side of her face was infected, and her skin was brown from dried blood. When the veterinarian sedated her to clean it up, he learned a good third of her face was eaten away from the infection," Heather A., with One by One Animal Advocates, tells Waggle. For the next week, just surviving was a challenge for Peaches. She was hospitalized in critical condition. "It was pretty touch and go. She only weighed three pounds. We did not know if she would live. She was so compromised, she was shutting down. Everything she had was going to fight that eye infection," Heather says. Incredibly, Peaches rebounded and fought off the infection. Her skin grew back, and so did her hair. "Now you can't even tell she had anything wrong! She feels better. She is not in pain. Now she is the most loving cat. We were so happy to see her recover," Heather adds. Then the nonprofit group got terrible news: Peaches has a fast-moving oral mass that just appeared. It needs to be surgically removed immediately at the Proctorville Animal Clinic and sent to pathology to determine if it is cancerous. One by One Animal Advocates relies solely on donations to pay for Peaches' medical care and for the care of all the other cats they save. They are hoping Peaches makes another comeback. "Getting the news about the mass in her mouth was really depressing after all she's been through," Heather says. "We rely on the generosity of the community and the Waggle community. If we don't have donations, we can't help. It would be terrible to see a cat suffering and say, 'We can't help.' We work on faith and hope that people will be as compelled to help Peaches as we are. The generosity of others is our lifeline."
Big C

Big C came into our lives in a sad way: his owners (our neighbors) moved a few months into the COVID quarantine. They left Big C behind: 7 days after they left, Big C came to us almost totally emaciated. It was clear that he was totally domesticated and wasn’t adjusting to life on the streets well at all. We couldn’t say no to him and he’s been ours ever since. He’s possibly the most laid-back, goofy, chill, and loving cat in the world. TBH, he is the perfect cat. His favorite thing to do is eat (lol you should see him eat in person), use his scratching post, and play with his friends. This is all he needs to be happy! And he has NO enemies- he loves everyone equally (though you’re special if you give him food!) I’m on a fixed income, as I lost my job a year ago due to COVID (my industry was hit very hard). Big C’s goofiness could make the meanest person on Earth laugh- he’s truly special, and deserves a real chance at having a normal life. Big C is currently at Sam Bass Veterinary Wellness in Round Rock, TX being treated by Dr. Wilson (they are awesome!) He had to have his tail amputated immediately upon intake- it was broken at the sacrum and was pulling the nerves of his bladder. So he was also having trouble peeing- and when he did, it was bloody. Currently we’re trying to sort that out so he can pee without a catheter. The vet told me a few days ago that out of all the cats she’s worked on, Big C is her favorite: he is THE most “amazing, low-maintenance, lovable, [and] remarkable cat.” Obviously, he’s the office favorite. He’s extremely derpy/goofy - If he were a person,he’d be Cheech Marin or Jim Carrey. It’s amazing how chill he is- especially after all he’s experienced in his short life.
