Big C

Big C came into our lives in a sad way: his owners (our neighbors) moved a few months into the COVID quarantine. They left Big C behind: 7 days after they left, Big C came to us almost totally emaciated. It was clear that he was totally domesticated and wasn’t adjusting to life on the streets well at all. We couldn’t say no to him and he’s been ours ever since. He’s possibly the most laid-back, goofy, chill, and loving cat in the world. TBH, he is the perfect cat. His favorite thing to do is eat (lol you should see him eat in person), use his scratching post, and play with his friends. This is all he needs to be happy! And he has NO enemies- he loves everyone equally (though you’re special if you give him food!) I’m on a fixed income, as I lost my job a year ago due to COVID (my industry was hit very hard). Big C’s goofiness could make the meanest person on Earth laugh- he’s truly special, and deserves a real chance at having a normal life. Big C is currently at Sam Bass Veterinary Wellness in Round Rock, TX being treated by Dr. Wilson (they are awesome!) He had to have his tail amputated immediately upon intake- it was broken at the sacrum and was pulling the nerves of his bladder. So he was also having trouble peeing- and when he did, it was bloody. Currently we’re trying to sort that out so he can pee without a catheter. The vet told me a few days ago that out of all the cats she’s worked on, Big C is her favorite: he is THE most “amazing, low-maintenance, lovable, [and] remarkable cat.” Obviously, he’s the office favorite. He’s extremely derpy/goofy - If he were a person,he’d be Cheech Marin or Jim Carrey. It’s amazing how chill he is- especially after all he’s experienced in his short life.
Beau
Beau is a 8-year-old Schnorkie in Gulfport, FL, who needs $450 for excision of mass.

Beau first came to me as a medical Foster. His owners passed away and the people who took him in did not care for him properly. I adopted him immediately and began treating his ears that were infected from a botched home cropping failure. He had infection underneath the scar tissue and both of his ears were literally filled with scabs. His eyes were crusted shut because they had not given him the daily eye drops he needed. We have cleared those issues up but he has a three centimeter Mass on his back that needs to be removed and biopsied. I was laid off from my job the day I adopted him and now my car is broken down lol! Hopefully the mass is not cancer. Either way, it is very irritating to him and he wants to pick at it and I have to keep him covered in clothing or a cone 24/7 until it is removed. I am working with PetPal veterinary and they offer a much lower cost. Beau is extremely loving and patient. He had to tolerate the administering of many medications when I first got him. Nothing phases him. He is Mr Mellow and has blossomed and grown strong and healthy under my care. my other dog was not initially all that welcoming to him and he still was very patient with her. As he has grown healthier and stronger he has become more and more outgoing and loves trips to the dog park, going for walks and car rides. He is beginning to play with toys and is very interactive with all other dogs and gentle with cats. Thanks to covid-19 my primary job went out of business and I have been unable to get through to unemployment. I have secured another job but have fallen behind on all of my bills. Beau and his health are my number one priority. This boy had a bad run before I got him and he has blossomed and we are bonded beyond belief. He deserves to be out of pain and be able to run around and play like any other dog without fear of infection or further irritation. Pray with all your might that it is not cancer. I am currently searching for grants and trying to raise the funds along with pet pal veterinary clinic in St Petersburg to have the mass removed and biopsied. Hopefully now that we have cleared up all of his other infections we can safely remove this and it will require a good bit of stitches and some tender care afterward which I can provide. Unfortunately, I just do not have the money at this point. All of my dogs my entire life have been rescued and I have taken the most difficult ones and seen them all blossom into the best dogs ever. Please help and thank you! He is absolutely a talker and I like to think I have him saying I love you! his previous owners must have been very good to him and very involved because he knew several commands and is completely obedient. He smiles at you with his teeth showing and loves to put his front feet on you and do a big stretch. he already has a huge fan club among my friends and neighbors and sleeps in the bed with me every night. He is my dream!
Moses
Moses is an eight-year-old Maltipoo dog in Dallas, TX, who needs $2,000 for cancer surgery.

Moses the Maltipoo needs your help to get the leg surgery he urgently needs. When Pooch Savers rescue saved Moses, he had an ugly, red, evil-looking ulcerated growth on his paw. "It was incredibly painful. He limped all the time," Scott B., from the rescue, tells Waggle. The group rushed Moses over to Mazie's Mission veterinary clinic, and after many tests, biopsies, X-rays, and an ultrasound, they received optimistic and bad news. The bad news: Moses had round cell cancer. It spread from his paw to lymph nodes in his leg. The optimistic news: The cancer appeared to be isolated to his limb. "It was devastating to know, even though we thought it was cancer, to have it confirmed," Scott says. The rescue group's veterinarian consulted with experts, and the best plan was surgery to amputate the dog's leg. "Moses was in so much pain, and knowing we could do the surgery, he could survive the cancer, and we can give him another chance--- we were just over the moon to hear that," Scott adds. Moses is expected to make a full recovery and will be up for adoption when he is healed up. Pooch Savers depends on donations to help save dogs like Moses and all the other pooches they take in. They can only do this with help from amazing animal lovers. "Dogs in need of medical treatment can be saved, and there's a loving home waiting for them. Donations help offset those costs and allow us to keep doing what we do," Scott says. "And Moses is an incredible dog."
Lilo
Lilo is a one-year-old Tabby cat in Edison, NJ, who needs $2,000 for brain surgery.

Super Hero's Animal Hydrocephalus Society has one mission: To help kittens and cats with hydrocephalus, a dangerous condition where fluid builds up in the brain, and medical attention is needed immediately. "We are the only disease-specific rescue in the world that deals specifically with hydrocephalus," Lisa J., president of the rescue, tells Waggle. "Many people think it's a hopeless disorder, and the best thing you can do is euthanize the animal. We have found that is the furthest thing from the truth. Many cats with this disorder can live full lives." The rescue needs help raising money to help their dear, sweet Lilo. She was born to a family that had a litter of kittens. Immediately they could tell Lilo needed medical help. She was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, and the family attempted to keep up her care, even syringe and bottle feeding. When Lilo's medical bills became unaffordable, they surrendered her to the rescue. "She was in severe crisis. The pressure in her head was spiking," Lisa says. Lilo has had many surgeries to help with her condition and, most recently, a procedure to relieve some pressure on her brain at the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. "She's doing great. She's bright. She's eating. She's playing, and there is a sparkle in her eyes," Lisa reports. "She has a zest for life like no animal we've ever seen. She does not give up. She's this kitten-sized cat that doesn't know anything other than to keep fighting." And Lilo is paying it forward. She has "adopted" a new kitten that just came into the rescue who is blind. "Lilo is his caretaker. She guides him. She cleans him. If he's going somewhere he shouldn't, she runs over and guides him," Lisa says. The rescue is struggling financially right now. Donations are down because COVID-19 is having a financial impact on so many people. The group could really use your help! "Our yearly medical expenses top $90,000. I lie awake at night wondering, are we going to survive this?"
Rockford
Rockford is a three-year-old Domestic Longhair cat in Chappell, NE, who needs $1,300 for burn and smoke inhalation treatments.
Chappell, NE • Nebraska Loves Cats
It's a miracle Rockford is alive. He is one of only a few cats who managed to escape a devastating house fire. Rockford and dozens of other cats were all being fostered at a privately-owned home that was also the rescue headquarters for Nebraska Loves Cats. Last month a fire started in a dryer inside the house. While the fire department was on the way, the woman who lived there, and helped run the rescue, started grabbing cats, attempting to race them all outside to safety. She also ran around the house, breaking all the windows so the cats could escape. "She kept trying to bring all the cats out of the house, but they were scared and would run back inside," Lori R., from the rescue, tells Waggle. "Even though the home was on fire, she kept running back in, trying to save them all. Then the police handcuffed her so she could not go back inside because it was so dangerous. The entire situation is so awful." Nearly 50 other cats died in the blaze. "It is just heart-wrenching," Lori says. Even though Rockford was one of the lucky ones who got out, he suffered severe smoke inhalation and had second and third-degree burns on his body, ears, and feet. Rescuers rushed him to the animal hospital. "He was pretty serious. It was touch and go for a while. His whiskers were all singed. He could not put down one of his front feet due to the burns. He needed IV fluids, pain medications, and antibiotics," Lori says. Nebraska Loves Cats desperately needs donations to pay for Rockford's medical bills. The grief-stricken rescue also has to rebuild and find a new home and headquarters. Amazingly, through all of Rockford's treatments and even through hydrotherapy, he has remained loving and calm. "The staff at Westfield Small Animal Clinic love Rockford. He's their favorite," Lori adds. "He would lay there in the water. He'd grip their hands and wanted his belly rubbed through the whole thing." Lori says Rockford is expected to recover and eventually will be up for adoption, but the rescue needs your help to recover from this horrible fire.
Puppy Tumble
Puppy Tumble is a three-month-old Labrador in Austin, TX, who needs $1,500 for Parvo treatment and hospitalization.
Lewisville, IN • Lucky Lab Rescue & Adoption
Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption volunteers are completely and utterly heartbroken: Puppy Tumble came down with Parvo. "She is the sweetest girl," Amy T., with the rescue, tells Waggle. Parvo is a dangerous, highly contagious virus that is completely preventable if a puppy or dog is vaccinated. Sadly, these puppies were born outside after a person who didn't spay or neuter their pets had an unexpected litter. "Not spaying, neutering, or vaccinating your dog or cat can have serious consequences," Amy says. "Now this puppy is suffering because of it. We see this happen all the time, and it's gut-wrenching." The rescue hopes Puppy Tumble, fighting for her life at New Hope Animal Hospital, can win her battle, and her littermates don't contract the virus. Lucky Lab is a nonprofit that isn't afraid to take in dogs with medical issues that might otherwise be euthanized. But they can only do that with the help of organizations like Waggle and generous donors. "Every dog we save is special," Amy adds. "We go out of our way to help treat dogs for medical conditions they have. We are praying for Puppy Tumble."
MURPH
Murph is a two-year-old Brittany Spaniel Mix in Dallas, TX, who needs $1,900 for a blood transfusion and emergency surgery.

When the rescuers at Pooch Savers saw Murph suffering in a South Texas shelter, they bolted into action. The Brittany Spaniel mix's leg was mangled, infected, and sadly needed to be amputated immediately. "The wound was so infected and so bad it exposed the bone," Scott B. with the rescue tells Waggle. "We were petrified." The shelter didn't give Pooch Savers Rescue a lot of information about Murph's injury. The nonprofit group had no idea the extent of medical care the dog would need when they agreed to save him, including a blood transfusion. "The shelter said Murph needed an immediate rescue, or he was at high risk for euthanasia since the shelter doesn’t have the means to take care of a dog like him," Lisa B. with the rescue tells Waggle. "Little Murph stayed strong enough to get out of the shelter and into our rescue, all the while being in excruciating pain, anemic, and he had a lot of fleas that were biting him." The rescue raced him to the Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County West for medical care. The group wasn't banking on taking in a dog with such severe needs and is hoping donations from giving animal lovers will help them cover Murph's veterinary bills. "This was a sudden and unexpected major expense and has precluded us from rescuing other dogs with medical needs," Lisa says. "We need funds to cover the vet bill." Amazingly, though Murph is still in bad shape, he's been so good during all his procedures. "We know that he’s intelligent, happy, adaptable, and a very sweet boy. He loves affection and giving kisses. As soon as you approach him, he rolls over, so you can rub his belly. He wags his tail every time we walk in the room," Lisa adds. The rescue says Murph is special because he is a fighter and is worth every penny.
Hecuba Lovelace
Hecuba Lovelace is a 19-year-old Mix in Vancouver, BC, who needs $1,500 for Dental Extraction.

Hecuba was found on the street and surrendered in September. The SPCA was able to identify her from a faded tattoo. She had been adopted as a kitten 19 years earlier. How could such a sweet natured 19 year old cat find herself utterly alone in the world? Unfortunately, no owners could be located. The SPCA waved their adoption fee. We took her home to live with us and our two other senior cats. It was rough for Hecuba at first. She had spent quite some time on the street and wasn’t used to having other cats in her life. But she has adjusted so quickly. She now has her own toys, her own type of food, two heated blankets and a ton of love. She has discovered bacon and loves nothing more than sitting on a warm lap. She has slept between us every night since she arrived. Our other two cats have had insurance since they were kittens which help waylay vet costs, but there are no insurance companies that will cover a 19 year old adopted street cat. We want to give our golden girl a chance at a pain free retirement. She deserves this chance. Our vet, Dr V at Vancouver Animal Wellness, feels that Hecuba needs to have teeth extracted. Because she is 19 and has other medical issues, she may not survive the anesthetic but at this point, the risk of infection by leaving her teeth in may kill her too. She is in significant pain and is currently taking pain medication so she isn’t too uncomfortable, but it’s not a permanent solution. When we adopted Hecuba, the SPCA told us not to expect her to live too long. She has stage 3 kidney disease, she was hypertensive, she has very bad teeth, and was underweight, and she was already 19! It’s been six months since we brought her home. She’s gained two lbs, is no longer hyper tense, and every morning she insists on tearing through the house chasing after her favourite scrunchy ball.

Alfie is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever in Pawtucket, RI, who needs $2,462 for Radiation Therapy.

Alfie is a golden retriever. He was born on April, 29 2014. He is six years old and weighs 74 lbs. Alfie came into my life when he was four months old. I saw his picture online and fell in love with him immediately. I got him from a breeder in a small Pennsylvania town called Bird In Hand. I drove six hours from RI to PA to get him. Alfie is part of my family. He is incredibly smart, gentle, curious and has a unique personality. He loves unsalted saltine crackers, takes his dinosaur toy everywhere, loves car rides, swimming and ear scratches. He is energetic, playful and continues to show unconditional love, putting a smile to anyone around him. I am currently attending an accelerated dental hygiene program at CCRI and lost my job at T-mobile because I was unable to meet their hours of operation due to my devotion to this program. I am currently looking for a job to cover my living expenses and Alfie's medical bills. Alfie recently had a fibrosarcoma tumor on his neck removed. My brave boy made a smooth recovery. However, two weeks later and he has developed yet another tumor, this time on his nose. The Vet performed a cat scan and a biopsy and determined this nasal tumor beginning to erode the bone. Their recommendation to control this fibrosarcoma is performing 5 sessions of radiation therapy. Alfie is definitely a character, he follows me everywhere I go, he wakes me up in the morning talking to me with his doggy language to take him out and give him some unsalted saltine crackers. When there is thunder, he jumps under my covers next to me and closes his eyes, knowing that I am there to protect him.
