Lucy

I got Lucy when she was 6 weeks old. She has been by my side when I had breast cancer. She has been by my side though a tornado. She wants to play fetch everyday when I come home. She has dental problems and arthritis. The dental has been a major issue and she has impacted teeth she needs removed asap. Plz help Lucy sleeps between me and my husband and she has funny ways about her. When she wants under the cover she rolls her head toward the cover. She loves to play fetch and is the boss over the bulldog. The bulldog is 90lbs and lucy is 14 lbs. When lucy barks he jumps back like u shot him. She is the boss in the house and everyone knows it I had cancer and still trying to pay on that. My husband just had a car accident and we had to get propane heat. She is like my child. She has been by me though my cancer. She is having surgery at rainsville animal clinic in rainsville Alabama. She has impacted teeth that causes her so much pain she can not eat. She has had teeth removed before but this time money is very tight for her and we need a little help to help our furbaby have a pain-free life for as long as she can She will sneeze when she gets bad. We call her temper tail but that makes her more mad. She has tons of toys but one balk is her favorite she has had for 11 years. If its not in her basket she will hunt all over the house til she finds it and u have to play fetch for hours with her if you don't she will bark until you do.
Batman
Batman is an 8-year-old Domestic Shorthair in Hubert, NC, who needs $400 to fix his leg.

Batman literally appeared in my life like a superhero. He showed up on my friends back porch in the middle of the night. She couldn't keep him, so I took him in when he was a little kitten. He's our cat/dog. He follows you around and knows basic commands. He loves potato chips and hot dogs. He's one of a kind. Batman loves every animal he meets. He's never met a stranger either. He's caring and kind. If there is a homeless cat he will literally bring them home with him and share his food/bed. He'll play fetch and sit to beg for food when you are eating. It's the cutest thing. He's our perfect little dog stuck in a cat body. If my family loses Batman to something unnecessary like being unable to pay when he can be fixed will be devastating. My father is retired from the Marine Corps after serving this great country for 22 years. Batman is his buddy. They are always outside together. Batman was hit by a car. His back leg is fractured and his belly was ripped open. He is stable as of right now. The emergency vet thinks it will require surgery to fix. I am concerned for his quality of life after this accident. He's currently residing at Swansboro Emergency Hospital. The team here is great. Batman knows his name. When it's dinner time all we have to do is stick our head out the door and yell for him. You can hear his bell around his neck ring as he runs from his lounging spot outside. He's so beautiful and pure. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body. He gives me hope that there is still good in this world.
Sammy
Sammy is a 4-year-old Mix in Wilmington, DE, who needs $1,000 for heartworm treatment.

We adopted Sammy in early December of 2019 from a pet rescue in PA. She was originally from the south and as soon as I saw her picture, I adored her. My son who was 9, about to turn 10, was so excited to finally have a dog of his very own. Upon first meeting Sammy, she was curious but cautious, as is expected. What wasn’t expected was she approached my son and gave him a gentle lick on his face. Sammy is the biggest cuddlebug! She loves naps and always wants to be near her people. She enjoys the quiet so she can save all her energy for greeting her people at the door. Then she is super excited and wants to get pets right away because she doesn’t like her family to leave the house without her. She is happy to go on a car ride because that means she gets to spend more time with Mommy! Things have been tough for everyone in the last year or so. And we are no exception. We certainly didn’t expect this since we had made sure to get all of her vaccinations on time. But we love her very much and we want her to be around as long as she possibly can. When she was tested by the rescue, she was heartworm negative. She was given preventives and we followed up with our vet as well. But this time, she tested positive and it took us completely by surprise. They said she probably had them when we got her but hadn’t shown up on the test yet. So we are facing tests, x-rays, and treatment to make her well. She is a patient at Windcrest Animal Hospital. She’s not a huge fan of toys (we’ve tried) but she does have a bunny that she will chase if you throw it and it is cute to see how proud she is when she brings it back on the couch and shows it who’s boss. She snores so sweetly but sometimes it gets loud and wakes her up! She’s the sweetest girl and we are lucky to have added her to the family.
Kitten
Kitten is a 1-year-old Mix in Frankford, DE, who needs $1,500 for multiple tests and treatments.

We have tons of stray cats in our neighborhood that each family would help feed. Kitten is about 10 months and we believe she is a dwarf cat mixed since her mother is quite short herself. Kitten is super small for her age and must have felt very cold being outside in the winter. One day she just followed us into our home and hasn’t left since. Kitten was a very loving kitten. She loved snuggling up with our dog and indoor cat. She always craved for any attention she could receive from them. She’s also loved throwing herself down on the floor so they could play with her. Kitten spent a lot of her time wondering around and exploring. She is a big foodie and loves to eat. Since of Covid, two out of the three adults in our household have lost our jobs. We aren’t financially eligible to take her to a vet nor a pet ER. We have tried applying for loans and care credit but to no avail. We would really love for her to be healthy again. Kitten is a stray from outside who wanted to be rescued from the cold. She was healthy while staying outside and a few weeks while being inside. We noticed a lot of hair falling out in clumps, scaling on her skin, and dandruff. She was no longer active and social like she once was. We figured it may be parasites or infections. We would like to have our healthy playful kitten back. Kitten is so special she’s so small, loving and friendly. She does the most silliest things when you don’t notice. She loves to mimic our pets in the house and just follow them around just to be noisy while she can. But she’s also very odd, she’s afraid of toys when we try to play with her. I guess she can live without toys but she can not live without friends and family.
Steve
Steve is a 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair in Clifton, CO, who needs $560 for Amputation.

Steve joined our family in 2019 when a friend at work mentioned that a friend of hers was looking to rehome her cat. When my youngest son and I went to pick him up, we fell in love with him instantly. He was scared, but took to my son, who sat there and cooed to him to help calm him. There were struggles at home, Steve and our dogs weren't on the best of terms, but he knew we were home. Steve loves to sit in the window in the garage where he can watch people and animals. I sometimes think he sits there planning his next adventure for when he gets out again since we was an indoor/outdoor cat. When outside, he would watch from the front yard, in the tall bush, sometimes taking a stroll down the street. Funds are tight for our family, and we've spent close to $700 just trying to get Steve comfortable until know what he needed. Steve is an amazing cat, has so much life in him, and even with a missing leg he would be an amazing cat. but the surgery is more than we can afford. When we had gotten back to the house later one afternoon, he was home, but his leg was just hanging there...broken. We took him to an emergency clinic and was told his back leg was severely broken and would need to be amputated. We wanted to be sure and got a second opinion from Grand View Animal Hospital. A surgery to fix the leg has a high chance of failing and he needs the leg removed. There are times that Steve seems to take on more dog behaviors than cat behaviors. He would join me and the kids on a walk to the mail box at the end of the street, just happily tagging along. He would always greet you too with a perky meow. His favorite is belly rubs, and not the kind were you scratch his belly for a moment and then kicks you away, but rather he will just lie there forever.
Aspen
Aspen is a 3-year-old German Shepherd in Springville, AL, who needs $500 for Heartworm treatment (melarsomine).

My girlfriend and I first met Aspen at a local pet shelter. She caught our eye immediately by her pure beauty. As we got to spend time with her we found that she was a sweetheart but obviously was intimidated by the whole experience. We took her home and she loves spending time beside us. She has already opened up leaps and bounds. Unfortunately, because of her heartworms she is quite lethargic. However, she does have a heart of gold and I can tell she yearns for more energy to roam about. Every night she either sleeps beside my bed or in the bed with me. Since she is still ill and a bit frightened, she doesn’t seem to have much of an appetite. I am a full time college student with a part time job. Even though I work, my paycheck can hardly make ends meet. I am able to afford routine care but an unexpected cost like this is hard to take on alone. I would be very gracious if I could give Aspen the life she deserves Unfortunately, Aspen has heartworms. Although this is a treatable condition, it is quite expensive. I am seeking treatment at Argo Animal Clinic. They provide excellent service and are also one of the most affordable in the area. Most importantly, they care about the well-being of their pups. I truly hope that I will be able to conjure up the funds to get her the treatment that she deserves/needs. One thing that always makes me smile is how particular she is. I can pet her anywhere on her body except her right front paw. For some reason she doesn’t want anyone to touch it. I have checked to see if she has some sort of pain or discomfort in it but all is well. She just wants it all to herself I suppose! Also, I have a stuffed animal (sloth) and she loves to cuddle up to it at night.
Odin
Odin is a 5-year-old German Shephard in Southport, CT, who needs $2,000 for emergency heart surgery.

When Odin didn't make it as a police dog, he ended up as a firefighter's pooch. He came into Robert V.'s life just when he and his wife, Barbara, needed some happiness. "We had a series of tragedies happen," Barbara tells Waggle. Robert's parents died within months of one another. Then their family dog passed away unexpectedly due to an aggressive form of cancer. "There was so much sadness," Barbara says. While all this was taking place, Odin was, well... flunking out of police dog training. When Robert, a firefighter, heard about Odin, he picked him up and brought him home. It was like it was meant to be. "He brought life back to the house. It was such a sad place before we got him," Barbara says. Odin fit in perfectly. He's now five years old, and their family could not be happier. Recently Barbara brought Odin to the vet for a routine appointment and got terrible news: he has a heart murmur and needs surgery to correct it. Without the surgery, Odin could die from cardiac arrest. > "We were horrified. We were terrified," Barbara adds. "He had a very serious condition we would not have known about if he didn't go in for a routine appointment." The medical team at Garden State Veterinary Specialists say Odin is projected to do well with surgery. But right now is a tough time financially for Barbara and Robert. Barbara's business is down due to the pandemic, and they can't afford the operation. "We must save Odin," she says. "We cannot have any more tragedy in our family." Barbara and Robert are hoping Waggle and the organization's generous donors can help. The couple says Odin may not have made it a police dog, but he's the perfect dog for them. He's exactly where he is supposed to be.
Rex
Rex is a 9-year-old Chihuahua Mix in Portland, OR, who needs $478 for Radiographic Digital Image Study, Sedation, and Complete Care Hospitalization.

Rex was adopted by my mom as a therapy dog when he was a pup. When he was 4, I stayed with my parents to take care of my dad, in his final days, and Rex was a huge source of comfort to me. The next year, Rex was having trouble with Mom's other dogs, and I was grieving, and dealing with PTSD. I needed Rex, and he needed away from there, so I adopted Rex, and he's my therapy dog now. My best buddy. Rex is a playful little guy, but also a big fan of cuddles and long naps. I'm his number one go-too for cuddles, but he also enjoys naps with my husband, his "dad," and with each of my children. He always knows when one of us needs comfort, and will come right away for pets and a snuggle to help us feel better. Rex is such a precious, adorable little friend, and we are so lucky to have him! Last year, we were evicted from our apartment. We had nowhere to go but my mom's. We need a place of our own, but I am out of work, on disability, and my husband is working hard to find us one. We are barely scraping by, but we love our dog, and need to get his surgery. I took Rex and my daughters to a park to run and play a couple of days ago. We weren't there for long before he ran a couple hundred yards away, then came back limping- he won't put his right, rear leg on the ground. Today, we took him to see Dr. Becky Marks, at Timberland Clinic, and she discovered Rex has either frayed or ruptured his CCL in his knee. He will likely need surgery to repair this. Rex is super attached to me, his "Momma," and wants to go anywhere I go- including the bathroom! He has a crooked snoot, which is so endearing and goofy, and a darker line of fur under his nose that makes it look like he has a mustache. It's super cute! Rex loves to run and run, and makes such a huge, silly grin whenever he gets a chance to run off-leash. His favorite treat is a cooked egg.
Marvin
Marvin is a 6-month-old Shepherd Mix in Eureka, CA, who needs $2,000 for Dental Extraction for Tooth Embedded in Nasal Cavity.

Marvin came into Sequoia Humane Society in September 2020 in a large group of puppies. All but Marvin have been adopted from that rambunctious group of pups, but not for a lack of sweetness. Marvin has stayed behind in the shelter for a little bit longer so that he can get treatment for a dental issue that would affect him (and possibly worsen as he grows) for the rest of his life. Marvin is a friendly face for all that he comes into contact with! Even when you aren't directly crossing paths with Marvin, he makes sure you know he is there. His big paws and wet nose pop up over the fence and beg to be seen! We know that Marvin will make the perfect companion for the lucky human that adopts him! Sequoia Humane Society is a non-profit, no kill shelter. We ensure all pets are healthy and cleared by our shelter veterinarian before entering their forever home. Getting Marvin the treatment he needs will mean getting started on the rest of his life in a real home. Marvin's tooth is embedded in his nasal cavity, which causes some breathing difficulty. At only six months old, Marvin is still growing, so his problem may worsen as he gets older. If left untreated, Marvin's outcome possibilities could include cyst/abscess development at the site of the tooth, or the tooth may continue to be pushed even further into his nasal cavity as he grows into an adult dog. Marvin is a goofy guy! He makes you laugh with his antics, and it feels like he is trying to get you to smile. It is amazing to watch the incredible dog that Marvin is becoming, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for him and his forever family. He is going to fit into life in a home just great!
